What matters most in the world of entertainment is the impact it brings to the audience, and the power it holds to spread that impact.
One of the most fascinating Run BTS themes is cooking. Through these cooking episodes, ARMYs learned which BTS members know what they’re doing and which members are awkward in the kitchen! Of course, we all know that when it comes to cooking, we can always count on Suga and Jin, our well-rounded JK who can do anything definitely knows how to cook too, and J-Hope and Jimin are also fairly competent in the kitchen. But what would RM and V, who are both novice in this field, do in these cooking episodes? If you want to re-watch all cooking episodes of Run BTS, this is the perfect guide for you!
1. Run BTS Episode 20: Taste of Korea
This is BTS’ first ever cooking episode on Run BTS! Set in CJ Cooking Studio and with Jin as the MC, the members compete against each other on a cooking match! With three against three, MC Jin decides who will win. Since Jin and Suga are the experts on this field and Jin is an MC on this episode, Suga is the default leader of one team, and everyone suggests that JK has the cooking skills to compete against Suga, so that’s how the cooking leads are decided. To pick their members, Suga and JK play rock-paper-scissors to decide who will first recruit the members to their team. J-Hope and RM fall under JK’s team. They cooked braised chicken and called it ‘cock-a-doodle spicy,’ and JK also cooked glazed potatoes. V and Jimin are under Suga’s team. They made braised seafood that Suga named ‘Jam-won.’ Jimin pan-fried potatoes, and V who loves to decorate used a squirrel bowl for the sauce and called it squirrel locked in garden! The members never fail to goof around!
My favorite moments in this episode are: Yoongi getting disgusted at the squid, not knowing how to clean it up, Jin who’s supposed to be the MC gets bored for not doing anything so he decides to cook potatoes, and who can ever forget the hilarious sauce in squirrel c/o V, as well as JK’s sweet potatoes that got stuck on the plate?!
In the end, Jin picks Suga’s team as the winner, and the penalty for the losing team is to wash the dishes. MC Jin who loves the boys as if they’re his brothers volunteered to help clean up.
2. Run BTS Episode 36: Kimchi Battle 2
BTS makes dishes out of the kimchi they made themselves on episode 35. They learn dishes that are not familiar to them by following recipes assigned to each team and these dishes are meant for them to eat for lunch. This episode is a battle between the cabbage and radish kimchi! Jin, RM, Suga, and V are Team Cabbage and their dishes are japchae and tonkatsu kimchi nabe, while JK, J-Hope, and Jimin are Team Radish and their dishes are stew, fried rice, and they have also added sausage. In the end, Team Cabbage wins and the penalty goes to Team Radish who have to wash the dishes.
I think the most unforgettable moment in this episode was when Jin accidentally poured too much sesame seeds and had to take them out from the dish he was making! Another one was when Suga made a magical broth that tastes like a Japanese dish and even he himself was quite shocked at the outcome of the dish he prepared! RM getting scolded by Jin for dicing the onions was another unforgettable moment.
3. Run BTS Episode 57: BTS Chef Part 1
In this episode, V’s request to cook Italian food was granted! Their guest teacher Park Jun Woo who’s a chef, food columnist, food researcher, 2017-2018 Busan Food Film Festa Commissioner, 2015-2017 Korea Sommelier Competition Judge, and 2015-2016 Seoul International Food Film Commissioner, guides them in making Italian food. The members are divided into three teams to compete against each other. Our BTS rap line, RM, Suga, and J-Hope call themselves Team Ref, JK and Jin chose Boxing as their team name, and Jimin and V call themselves, Team 95s. Team Ref’s choices of dishes are beef sirloin and pesto sauce for the spaghetti, Team 95s choices are pork neck and arrabiata sauce for the orrechiette, and Team Boxing’s choices are beef tenderloin and cream sauce for the fettucine.
There are so many memorable moments here, but I won’t forget Jimin and V’s failed attempt to make meringue because when Jimin put it over his head, it was runny and it messed up his hair! Of course, he was given time to wash himself up and look decent again.
4. Run BTS Episode 58: BTS Chef Part 2
BTS continues being chef for the day by cooking Italian food. Suga, as always, showcased his cooking skills in this episode and his team won with a total of 19.5 score, while the other teams were tied with an average score of 18.5. Through rock-paper-scissors, Team Boxing won against Team 95s, so the best of friends, Jimin and V, were given a penalty to make drinks for the rest of the members. Being the menaces that they are, they wanted to get back at Suga for winning, so they put salt in his cola. Suga instantly noticed that something was wrong with his drink, and JK who took a sip, confirmed that Jimin and V put salt in it!
5. Run BTS Episode 102: King of Avatar Cook Part 1
This was the most challenging cooking activity for the BTS members because of the rules they had to follow. With J-Hope as their MC, the teams are divided into two which were led by Jin and Suga. RM and Jimin are in Suga’s team, while JK and V are in Jin’s team. Jin’s team goes first in this very challenging cooking episode where the cooking lead has to provide instructions to his avatar cooks. JK and V had challenges from the start, but they managed to pull off the cooking match in the end by finishing the dish on time.
6. Run BTS Episode 103: King of Avatar Cook Part 2
This episode is the most chaotic cooking avatar episode! With RM and Jimin getting instructions from Suga who’s making a great deal of effort trying not to lose his patience, RM and Jimin fails to identify sugar vs salt! They have been putting lots of salt in a dish where they were supposed to put sugar! RM also lives up to his name as the “God of Destruction” by hitting things and causing them to fall! In the end, Jin’s team wins. This is the first cooking episode where Suga’s team didn’t win and the penalty isn’t as easy as washing the dishes! They have to climb Mount Achasan!
7. Run BTS Episode 122: Reverse Avatar Cook 1
It’s Jin and Suga’s turn to be avatar cooks! In this episode, they take instructions from the members in cooking a dish without knowing what it is! The members have to watch a video and memorize how the dish is cooked, then provide instructions to Jin and Suga. Jimin and JK gave instructions first and all thanks to Jin and Suga’s expertise in cooking, they were able to figure out what dish they were supposed to make. In the end, they were able to cook two dishes in an hour! The dishes were kimchi-pizza-tangsuyuk and grilled patties.
8. Run BTS Epiosde 123: Reverse Avatar Cook 2
It’s J-Hope and V’s turn to give instructions to Jin and Suga! This episode was more challenging since Jin and Suga were already tired from cooking two dishes within a limited time, so there were more struggles than the first one, but in the end, they were still able to cook quesadilla and sujebi. However, based from hygiene, teamwork, plating, and taste, Jimin and JK won in providing instructions to our cooking masters!
9. Run BTS Episode 125: K-HAM Special
In this episode, the special guest is considered as the godfather of Korean cuisine. His name is Baek Jong-won. This episode is also the very first cooking episode without Yoongi, so the members put Yoongi’s photo on the table to show him how much they miss him!
The boys were divided into two teams: RM, J-Hope, and JK were assigned to make ham and potato stew, and Jin, Jimin, and V were assigned to make ramen, ham, and rice. This was such an adorable episode where Baek was bombarded with questions by the members. They competed against each other with the thought of getting a custom-made knife from Baek when they win, but in the end, it turned out that Baek had seven knives with him, so everyone was a winner, including Yoongi who wasn’t present at the time.
10. Run BTS Episode 142: Perfect Pairing
Because BTS and Baek Jong-won had great chemistry during the K-Ham Special on episode 125, Run BTS brought them together once again to make kimchi from scratch and pair them with the perfect dish! This time, they made kimchi from scratch unlike during the Kimchi Battle episode where the sauce was ready. Divided into Team Fresh Kimchi with Jin, V, and Jk, and Team Green Onion Kimchi with RM, J-Hope, and Jimin, they made kimchi, then cooked sujebi and jjang ramen.
