My name is Onyx and I enjoy watching movies. What I enjoy more is talking about the movies I have seen which why I review movies.

Tom Cruise is a god.

Tom Cruise is a god.

This was one of the most anticipated movies this year and one of the most watched too. As I am writing this, Top Gun has grossed about $1billion. Phew. It also took down Infinity War as the sixth highest grossing movie in domestic box office. Crazy. I'm not really one to look at charts and all but the movie deserved it. You can just see that Tom Cruise strives for perfection and he achieves it. After I saw the movie i didn't need anybody to tell me that the cast had to go through actual training to be able to pull the kind of stunts that they did. Everything felt so real and so on point. It was perfect. We wouldn't have had it any other way.

Prior to now i hadn't seen the first one that came out in 1986. So I decided to watch that before I watch this. And this is not because I felt like there would be any connection, i just felt like I should for watching sake and to compare and contrast or something. After I saw Top Gun: Maverick, I was so glad i watched the first one right before. It wasn't because of the similarities or the connection, it was because I saw how well the story was told. You can see the recent one without seeing the first one though, it doesn't completely rely on the background story but you wouldn't see the complete picture.

Top Gun : Maverick was so good that it didn't have any forced lines or scenes that connected it to the first one. It was like a jigsaw that fit perfectly for the bigger picture. Even the tiniest detail was executed perfectly that you wouldn't feel that the both movies are years apart. I wanted to shed happy tears because of this masterpiece. We wouldn't have had it any other way.

I felt so good after seeing this movie, that I laid back on my bed and just allowed the euphoria of it to wash all over me as I kept thinking about the movie. It had every necessary ingredients in their right proportion. It was so complete that it made me feel complete after seeing it. The story was so well told, and you would feel every emotion portrayed. It wasn't missing any side and it didn't feel empty. The emotional part gave the movie a very good balance to every thing, so it wasn't just apart jets, bikes and speed or how good the protagonist was. It was also about loyalty, guilt, fear and death.

The soundtrack was so beautiful that it was so essential to the movie. When I saw Lady Gaga, I didn't expect less though. But apart from that, the sound mixing and editing was too good. It was one of the core points for me in the movie.

I honestly thing that the entire cast would have bonded so well during the shooting of this movie because you can literally see it through the movie. They were so much in sync and that was what made it feel so real. It seemed that they were experiencing these events for real and their emotions were very raw and detailed. I was blown away to be very honest. It was too good of a performance. I was gonna call out Tom Cruise and Miles Miller as my favorite characters and how good they were but on a second thought I decided not to because the entire cast blew my mind off. Every single one of them excelled in their roles (same for the first one too). I was so engrossed in the movie because of the cast.

This movie is very high standard with all the jets and engines that were used. Also the fact that the cast had to go through real training from the Air Force. All of these efforts were not in vain because the movie was a bomb. Tom Cruise was really in his element

If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it. My rating is 9/10, it was a really good movie. That's all for today, thanks for reading. Till next time!!
