My name is Onyx and I enjoy watching movies. What I enjoy more is talking about the movies I have seen which why I review movies.
I woke up today thinking of Predestination. The movie and the concept generally, then I decided to write about it because I wanted to talk to you guys about it and how it makes me feel lol. In my little years of watching movies, this became a recent obsession that its ranked my best genre of movie. I mean this can change anytime but definitely not soon. I have like 3 movies that did it for me. There are others that I love still, like Flashback with our lovely Dylan O'brien but that's like my number 4 lol. And if you probably know these movies that I am about to talk about then you would agree with me. So let's get right into it.
I am going to reduce spoilers as much as possible incase you haven't seen them. So it's not going to be so detailed, I'll just write them I short paragraphs to excite your curiosity because I wish I everybody in the world could see these movies for real.
If there is a movie representation of messed up, this would be it. And not the kind of messed up of A Serbian Film . No not that kind of messed up lol, please no, not that kind. The kind that will make you just sit down and think and be like "how did anybody even think of this in the first place??". I tell you I have seen this movie like 6 times or so and there are sometimes that I still get confused. Its inevitable lol. The whole concept is so crazy fr but at the same time, in the midst of that chaos in your mind you will find understanding. As crazy as that sounds and that's because this movie was so perfected executed that the idea of Predestination made sense.
Now I know it might seem like I'm blowing the horn of this movie too much but I get very excited just thinking about it. The casting already was so perfect that there wouldn't have had it any other way. That was the first thing that struck to me. The casting and it's performances, it was so surreal like as you progress in the movie you would understand. The whole idea would take form in your head.
I really don't want to give so much information about the movie because I want you guys to watch it with a fresh mind and I might just end up confusing you lol. But just imagine you being your past, present and future. Just YOU. Being in charge of everything aspect of your entire life, even as much falling in love with yourself, getting pregnant, giving birth to YOURSELF and killing YOURSELF lol. You see!! Crazy!!
LIKE I SAID THIS MOVIE IS MESSED UP
BUT THE GOOD KIND OF MESSED UP
So a lot of people have seen this movie because when I talk about on my Twitter sometimes I get more responses on it than Predestination. I enjoyed this movie alot because the idea is so rare like how do people actually think of this stuff. It was not until the end of the movie that I actually understood why it was called Inception. I must say the vfx was so impressive and I had to go back a lot of times to correctly grasp what was happening because it kept going very fast. I am a HUGE fan of Leonardo Dicaprio so this made me more invested in the movie.
If only you were able to go into somebodys find and put an idea far deep into the person's memory that if seemed like its not your idea but the person's. It seems like they thought about it by themselves and not someone else's. Crazy idea for real. You would really need to understand what is being sad in this movie to understand fully, I mean thats how it was for me. I didn't want to miss anything at all.
Some people feel like it's just a sci-fi movie but I like to see it as a psycholoical thriller because it wasn't just high technology and advanced science stuff, it was mind tackling. After you see the movie for the first time or even during the movie, you would have to sit and down and actually think like... How did they or where did they? A lot of questions will suffice especially at the rate they were going. The way the movie was shown was as if we were already expected to know stuff about how the Inception is done. There were not a lot of explanation scenes (if you understand) just pick up the story as we go.
So yes, I loved it. Its one of my favorites.
I know what you are probably saying : another Leonardo Dicaprio movie. Lol its not like that, I promise. Okay maybe a little but I mean there's no way I can talk about Psychological Thrillers and not about Shutter Island. Like come on guys. This movie was the absolute best. I was caught completely off guard. Completely. And I am not trying to brag but that hardly happens. I didn't not expect the end. Nothing preparede for the truth. I did not even want to accept it, I wanted it to be a lie that there were forcing on our protagonist. I didn't not see it coming at all guys and thats the beautiful part of the story. For God's sake, he came on a boat to the island, how is it that he never left?
No spoilers please! Lol. If you haven't seen this movie please do. It's totally worth it I promise you. What I absolutely loved about this movie was the sad ending. The fact that he still chose what he chose knowing the consequences. It was so sad but yet real in a way. Days after I saw this movie, I kept asking myself why. Why did he do that? Was it a conscious decision at this point? Was he just tired of it all? Or he didn't still know what he was doing and the entire thing took over him again?. I'd like to believe it was a conscious effort, he must have known. He must have. Yes, it's a bit emotional. The buildup to the end was beautifully executed. So beautiful.
So yes those are my top 3 Psychological Thrillers. This is my personal opinion of course. What are yours?? I'd like to know. If you movies like this that make you as excited as i am, tell me in the comment section below. Let's talk about them.
That would be all for today. Thank you guys so much for reading. Till next!!
