Official BTS Platforms That New ARMYs Should Follow

Introduction

There is not one artist that I supported like I supported BTS. Sure, in my younger years, I was just like any fangirl who bought CDs, posters, and magazines of my favorite artists. I can vividly remember my great love for Eminem during my young adolescent years, but I never thought about how I could support him to top the Billboard charts, perform at AMAs, or get nominated for Grammys. I just listened and appreciated his music and watched him whenever I could, but that was it. And I wasn’t really aware about how to support artists until I became a fan of BTS.

Now that I’ve gotten older, I realized how important it is to fully support artists by knowing their official platforms, and not get fooled by accounts who are pretending to be someone else. On most platforms, you can be rest assured that they are legit accounts whenever there is a blue checkmark beside the username, but not everyone is cautious or aware of things like this. In YouTube, some can easily get fooled because there are videos that would say ‘official’ in the description, or channels with the same logo and almost the same name as the official ones. Though there is copyright infringement, with too many videos on YouTube and other viewing platforms, not everyone who upload videos can get monitored for violations unless someone reports it. That makes it unfair for artists. If you want to make sure your favorite artist is getting your full support, make sure you know how and where.

For BTS fans, especially if you’re a new ARMY, I am encouraging you to fully support them by following their official platforms.

Below are BTS official platforms that new ARMYs should follow:

1. VLive

VLive is a live video streaming service for South Korean celebrities that allow them to broadcast live videos, performances, reality shows, and award shows. BTS interact with their fans through video chat sessions, so it is a must to download the VLive app, or you can also sign up through the website. You can also watch all their BTS run episodes, official music videos, comeback special, birthday videos, and so much more! I personally love their impromptu VLive sessions because they make time to read comments or answer questions from ARMYs. Without script, you can expect unintended spoilers, funny stories, or serious moments when they open up and let the world know how they feel or what they’ve been thinking about. They also have a VLive+ Board where you can purchase their world tour concerts, muster or fanmeetings, Bon Voyage shows, as well as the behind cam videos of Bon Voyage, and their concerts.

2. Weverse & Weverse Shop

Weverse is a mobile app and web platform created and owned by Hybe. This works as a social media platform where BTS can share their message and photos. In the media corner, all the behind cuts of BTS Run can be purchased, as well as their movie documentaries like Break the Silence, Bring the Soul, and Burn the Stage. My all-time favorite reality show, BTS in the Soop, can also be viewed on Weverse, as well as all their official music videos, and solo tracks that you can’t find in their albums.

If you want to be a full-pledged ARMY, there is a separate app for Weverse Shop where you can register to officially join the BTS ARMY Fanclub. The membership cost depends on the package you choose. The basic package is the cheapest, and it comes with awesome perks like the opportunity to purchase special membership-only BTS goods, the opportunity to pre-book BTS concerts and participate in raffles, view members-exclusive image, video, and sound content on BTS Weverse, and lots more! All official BTS merchandise are in Weverse Shop, so you can enjoy high quality BTS products through online purchase. You can buy their albums, photo book, themed merch, Learn! Korean with TinyTan and other TinyTan merchandise, and there are also DVDs of their Season’s Greetings, MUSTER, BTS Memories, World Tour, Winter Package, Summer Package, and lots more.

Earlier this year, BTS and Hybe Labels renewed their commitment to ‘LOVE MYSELF’ campaign to support UNICEF in ending violence and neglect, and to promote children and young people’s self-esteem and well-being. BTS and Hybe Labels will donate 1 million US dollars to UNICEF, and proceeds from the sale of LOVE MYSELF merchandise that you should only buy from Weverse, as well as a portion of profit from BTS’ LOVE YOURSELF album sales, will go to UNICEF. This is one of the many reasons why BTS is the only artist I have ever supported like this. Aside from healing troubled and broken souls through their music, they are using their influence for a good cause, as UNICEF’s Goodwill Ambassadors.

3. YouTube

Make sure that when you’re supporting BTS, they’re really getting your support. YouTube is a video platform that is too huge that HYBE and YouTube itself wouldn’t be able to monitor all the violations unless someone reports its. Once BTS releases a music video, or any video content on VLive, Weverse, their official YouTube channels, and other official platforms, you can expect that there will be copies of that everywhere on YouTube. YouTube will take some down, but not all, so make sure that you report it and instead, support BTS through their official platforms.

There are three official YouTube channels that you should subscribe to if you are a true ARMY: BANGTAN TV, HYBE LABELS, and BT21.

BANGTAN TV channel is where BTS Festa is released. It is a celebration of their anniversary, and you don’t want to miss that. Other video contents that you can find on BANGTAN TV channel are solo tracks that aren’t in their albums, dance practices, performances, shooting sketch (the making of their videos), photo shoots, live sessions, and many, many others.

HYBE LABELS is their company, which used to be BigHit Entertainment and has now re-branded itself to HYBE. ALL official music videos of HYBE Labels are on this channel, so it is a must that ARMYs stream BTS music videos only on this channel upon its release, so that the streaming will count towards the song’s ranking on the BillBoard charts.

BT21 is a collaborative project between BTS and Line Friends. It was launched in 2017 and has captured the young hearts of many, including me and my youngest kid. BT21 consists of eight different characters created by BTS themselves. If you love BTS, then you’ll love BT21 too because each character possesses each member’s personality.

4. Spotify

We all know that Spotify is one of the world’s largest music streaming services. Amongst all BTS official platforms, this is what I use the most because I listen to their music while working (which is pretty much almost the entire day), and I can’t ever go in the groceries or run errands without playing BTS music on my Spotify. If you want to conveniently listen to BTS, follow them on Spotify. There are over 300 songs and still counting. Since they have just recently released Butter, which is on the #1 spot on the BillBoard Top 100 during its second week, let’s make sure to keep it that way by listening to it on Spotify since it is one of the most important platforms that is considered for artist, song, and album ranking.

If you’re a true ARMY, you would also be supportive of their individual Spotify account. Yes, five out of seven BTS members have their own Spotify account. They are RM, Agust D, and JHope, also referred to as the BTS rap line, as well as Jin and V who sang the OST to Hwarang entitled, "It's Definitely You." While we are waiting for Jimin and Jungkook to also release their own mixtape album in the future and have their own Spotify account, let’s support RM, Agust D, JHope, Jin, and V by following them, and streaming their songs on Spotify.

5. SoundCloud

SoundCloud is also a large music streaming app and website, and my go-to if I want to listen to BTS unreleased songs. I have a separate HubPage article entitled Amazing BTS Songs That Are Not on Spotify where you can find a list of songs that I’m sure you would love to know about.

6. Social Media

It is also important that we support them through their official social media accounts because their presence and ARMYs’ presence on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, also count towards their popularity. Hence, they are important platforms that will determine fan interactions and social engagement. BTS has won the Billboard Top Social Artist for five consecutive years, and let’s keep it that way for the coming years by trending BTS through BTS hashtags worldwide.
