The Top 10 Best Anime Series of All Time

I love anime and have been watching it for a long time. I enjoy the genres of Slice of life, Romance & Supernatural.

Anime popularity has been rising steadily over the years across the globe. With so many anime debuting every year, the list of top anime is constantly changing.

This list compiles my top ten anime series of all time. The ranking is done based on storyline, animation, dialogue, and various other factors. Also, note that this list only comprises anime with less than 30 episodes in each of its seasons (if any).

1. Your Lie in April


Arima Kousei was an exemplary pianist until he loses the ability to hear the piano's notes after his mother's sudden death. Then he meets Kaori Miyazono, a violinist who changes his perspective on life. Packed with beautiful animation and a captivating storyline, this will leave you with mixed emotions at the end.

2. WorldEnd (Shuumatsu Nani Shitemasu Ka?)


WorldEnd is a heart-touching anime about angels who are trained to be weapons and not feel any pain. We fall in love with the main character, a battle angel named Chtholly, as she sacrifices her life for someone else's happiness. This is a psychological romance anime that will leave you in tears.

3. Violet Evergarden


As the continent of Telesis recovers from a great war, an ex-soldier Violet Evergarden gets a job at a postal company as a ghostwriter to help those who cannot write letters. This is a coming-of-age anime based on a light novel of the same name. Packed with beautiful dialogues, scenery, and emotions, this anime makes a must-watch for every otaku.

4. Piano Forest (Piano No Mori)


The son of a reputed pianist and the son of a prostitute find friendship through their passionate love for music. This anime, filled with beautiful animation and soulful piano pieces, is a must-watch for every classical music fan out there.

5. Iroduku: The World in Colours


Hitomi Tsukishiro lives a monochromatic and emotionless life, devoid of any friends. Her grandmother, the great witch Kohaku send her to the past year of 2018, where she encounters a boy whose drawings show her colours for the very first time. Filled with lush backgrounds and a relaxing setting, I would recommend this original coming-of-age fantasy anime to everyone who wants to experience more.

6. Clannad and Clannad: After Story


Tomoya Okazaki is a student at a local high school who has lost interest in the mundane existence of things, having a drunkard and gambler as a father. There, he meets a curious girl named Nagisa Furukawa, because of whom his life is changed for the better. Clannad and Clannad: After Story (the sequel) is a tragedy and romance anime that will leave the viewer experience a rollercoaster of emotions.

7. One Punch Man


Saitama is a local overpowered superhero who can kill his enemies in one punch. This anime is his story of finding a worthy opponent who can match his strength. It is packed with comedy that is bound to leave everyone who watches squealing with laughter.

8. Death Note


Light Yagami, a high-school student discovers the Death Note, a book that can kill anyone whose name is written in it. Filled with interesting plot twists and a captivating story, this anime holds on to your attention until the very end and is a must-watch for every crime-genre fan.

9. Erased


Satoru Fujinuma is a manga artist with a curious ability: just as tragedy is about to strike, he goes several minutes back in time to before it occurs. This anime follows the story of his mission to bring to light what transpired 18 years ago when one of his classmates in elementary school went missing and was never found. Erased is a psychological mystery anime with an interesting plot and animation that will leave you at the edge of your seats.

10. Beyond the Boundary


This dark fantasy follows the story of two high-schoolers: a boy named Akihito Kanbara who is half Youmu and can heal from his wounds instantly, and a girl named Mirai Kuriyama who is a member of a clan whose members can manipulate their blood to use as weapons. Despite the gloomy sounding overview, this is a heart-touching anime filled with breathtaking visuals and animation.
