Charlette is a certified K-drama addict and joined the club last 2019.
I was already late in joining the bandwagon of being addicted to Korean dramas or K-dramas. The K-drama era has started in our country during Lover's in Paris and The Coffee Prince time, but it was only two years ago that I was addicted to it.
By addicted, I meant watching all the episodes of a particular show overnight. If I can't watch the full episode, it's like I will miss half-of-my-life.
It all started when I watched Eun Woo's Gangnam Beauty. After that, I started researching all the best K-dramas to binge-watch on Netflix.
Here is my Top 10 K-drama list to watch. For me, these are the best. I know anybody who already watched would agree.
1. It's Okay To Not Be Okay
A whimsical love story. It addresses mental health and emotional healing and starring two of the most visually good-looking pair in South Korea, Kim Soo-hyun and Seo Yea-ji. The story is about Ko Mon-young (Ye-ji), a famous children's book author, and Moon Gang-tae( Soo-hyun), a caregiver working at a psychiatric ward. Both of them have a traumatic past. They soon find comfort with each other until their emotional wounds heal. A bonus is that the kissing scenes are so hot you don't want to miss them. If you don't believe me, then watch the video clip below.
Starring Nam Joo-hyuk and Bae Suzy. Also a good-looking pair. The drama is about Seo Dal-mi (Bae Suzy), taking over the dream left by her father, which is becoming a successful entrepreneur if only he didn't die. Fate and destiny brought her to Nam Do-san (Joo-hyuk), a math genius, because of the lie Han Ji-pyeong (Kim Seon-ho) made in the past. It's also about coincidences, reaching out for your dreams no matter what happens, and never giving up even if you fail.
3. Crash Landing On You
Who wouldn't want to have this drama on their list, especially now that both Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin already confessed they are a couple? The story revolves around a South Korean heiress and owner of a fashion and beauty company, Yoon Se-ri (Son Ye-jin), who was blown to North Korea by a paragliding accident. There she met Captain Ri Jeong-hyeok (Hyun Bin), stationed along the North Korean portion of the Demilitarized zone where Se-ri landed. Hopeless romantics will love this mostly because the theme is about you and me against the world.
4. Fight For My Way
Fight For My Way is one of my favorite K-dramas because of how cute Kim Ji-won and Park Seo-joon are here. There are four main casts. But I will focus on the characters of Seo-joon and Ji-woon since they are the leads. In the beginning, Choi Ae-ra (Ji-won) and Ko Dong-man (Seo-joon) have a push and pull kind of relationship because they were friends before becoming a couple. Ae-ra works in a department store but dreams of becoming an announcer one, of which she is not qualified and faces a lot of obstacles because of Dong-man's ex-girlfriend. Dong-man is a taekwondo player who later on falls in love with his close friend, Ae-ra. Both of them struggles to succeed in their chosen dreams amidst the many hindrances in their relationship.
5. The World Of The Married
One of the most-talked-about series that you shouldn't miss, and I highly recommend it. Ji Sun-woo (Kim Hee-ae), a family doctor, is married to Lee Joon-young (Jeon Jin-seo), an aspiring director. She thought that she has a perfect family and a blissful life. She has a flourishing career, a dutiful son, and a loyal and loving husband. Or so she thought until she found out that her husband is cheating on her, and not only that. She was also the last one to know. Her co-worker, neighbors, and all the people around her seem to know what her husband is doing except her. The story is about betrayal, how to cope with divorce, and the effects of cheating. Of course, I also love how the heroine plot out her revenge.
6. My Secret Romance
This one also made it to my top 10 list because it's one of the best romantic comedies I've watched. Bang Sung-hoon and Song Ji-eun also make a lovely pair here. My Secret Romance is about Cha Jin-wook (Sung-hoon), a happy-go-lucky second-generation chaebol who had a one-night stand in the past with Lee Yoo-mi (Ji-eun), a nutritionist. Both met again in the future, with Jin-wook itching to take his revenge on Yoo-mi because she deflated his ego by leaving him after spending the night together. Things started to get complicated when he learned that he has a three-year-old son with Yoo-mi, not knowing the boy was Yoo-mi's brother from her mother's second marriage. Watch the drama and find out what happened to their secret romance.
7. Suspicious Partner
For those who love a murder mystery and romantic comedy, this is the drama for you. The series is about Noh Ji-wook (Ji Chang-wook), a prosecutor, and Eun Bong-hee (Nam-Ji-hyun), a legal intern who worked together to solve a murder case involving a psychopath. Bong-hee later becomes a murder suspect after her ex-boyfriend was found dead in her house. She eventually fell in love with Ji-wook after he defended her. This drama is also one of my favorites because aside from, I like the chemistry of Ji Chang-wook and Nam Ji-hyun, I never get bored watching this drama.
8. Strong Woman Do Bong Soon
This K-drama is also hilarious. This series is about a gaming CEO, Ahn Min-hyuk (Park Hyun-sik), whose life has an unknown threat. He hired Do Bong-soon (Park Bo-young) as his bodyguard because she has superpowers. What to watch out: Are emotional lines that Hyun-sik always throws at Bo-young. An example is “To become lovers from friends is simple. One person has to take a step closer. And that one step changes their relationship.”
9. Her Private Life
Her Private Life is about the secret life of Sung Deok-mi (Park Min-young) as a Kpop idol "masternim" and the life of sasaengs. Sasaeng fans are those who are obsessive, and they stalk and invade the privacy of their star. She met Ryan Gold (Kim Jae-wook) in an auction abroad, and a very awkward moment. She never expected Ryan to be his boss and protector one day when she got involved with a rumor.
10. Lie To Me
Lastly, this is also a favorite because it is a romantic comedy. The story plot is about Gong Ah-jung (Yoon Eun-he), a government employee who lied that she was the wife of Hyun Ki-joon (Kang Ji-hwan), a wealthy CEO of a hotel, to get revenge on her close friend and her first love.
There is still a lot I didn't mention, but these 10 are the ones I never get tired of rewatching.
