Halloween is that time of the year where we find enjoyment in scaring others and ourselves. Each culture in the world has a different way of providing spooks but regardless of where you are in the world, horror movies are a staple source of jump scares and nightmare fuels.

Specially now that we are all encouraged to stay at home due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, having a list of movies to watch on-line is handy. Of course there are classic horrors like "The Exorcist " and the more recent "Conjuring", but there are many deep cut horror films that are yet to be part of Halloween pop-culture. There are tons of horror movie gems hidden in NETFLIX, AMAZON PRIME, and even YOUTUBE. To save you time, I have listed 15 Scary Movies you should watch on Halloween.

So charge your mobile devices, log-in to your NETFLIX account, grab a pop-corn, and prepare to be scared by these films.

1. The Autopsy of Jane Doe

The dead can keep and reveal many secrets and surely the father and son coroners will know this first hand as they conduct an autopsy on an alleged homicide victim known only as "Jane Doe".

2. Sinister

In this 2012 film, A writer, played by Ethan Hawke, struggles to write his next best-seller. Thinking that a change of residence will remove his writers block, he and his family moved into a home where an infamous murder happened. There he discovers home footages that will lead to unimaginable twists and climax. Will he finally write another best-seller?

3. Hush

Currently streaming on NETFLIX, this is a home invasion movie with a twist that is the main protagonist is mute. We are kept at the edge of our seats as we watch the lead survive an enemy she cannot hear.

4. The Ritual

After the tragic death of their friend, four men went on a hiking trip in northern Sweden. Things take a dark turn when they walked off the path and take a short-cut through the forest. Hidden emotions and mysteries will be revealed as they go deeper into the forest.

5. Veronica

What wrong could happen when school-girls play spirit of the glass while a total solar eclipse is happening? Discover for your self as you watch this movie marketed as being so scary you cannot finish it.

6. Quarantine

Quarantine is a familiar word in this COVID-19 New Normal Society. Watch how our characters survive as they are forced to "stay at home".

7. The Invitation

A man receives from his former wife an invitation to a gathering. Well, it's not the wisest thing to meet up with an ex and her current lover.

8. Cargo

As a zombie virus spreads in the land down-under, a man must find care-takers for his infant daughter before it's too late.

9. It comes at night

This movie is particularly scary because it makes us ask what are we willing to do to survive and protect our loved ones should this COVID-19 Pandemic escalate to a different level of dread.

10. Noroi

A Japanese found footage film currently available on YOUTUBE. The film is a slow-burn but the burn will be worth it.

11. Terrifier

Clowns scare a lot of people. The successful remake of the movie "It" did not help improve the image of clowns and this one will definitely not. Art the Clown will make a footstool out of Penny Wise....

12. Strangers

A home invasion film which garnered a cult following in recent years. The film features a young couple who stayed for the night in an isolated house. Earlier in the night they were going through the emotions from a failed engagement and now they have to survive the attacks of three masked assailants.

13. It follows

This movie gives a new definition to "Safe Sex". A teen flick with a good amount of scares. Be careful.

14. Creep

This movie showcases a different take on the found footage genre. It is a psychological thriller with dashes of comedy and homoeroticism. Who or what is the Creep? Watch to find out.

15. Creep 2

Sequels are often met with disdain and viewed as a trying-hard parody of its predecessor. However, that does not apply to Creep 2. The sequel is so good that it makes the audience beg for a third installment.
