The Best Movie Kisses of All Time
I love everything weird and colorful in this world and I try to live a life that will make the world a little better once I'm gone.
Big Kisses on the Big Screen
Here you will find some of the best movie kisses of all time. I will not be presumptuous enough to put them into some ranked system, because it is far too subjective - the movies are too different, and the kisses are too different. They cannot be properly compared. The movie kisses included are what I believe are the "best of the best".
This is a list which is obviously always growing. If you think of one I have forgotten (or would like to dispute one I have included) visit the guestbook at the bottom of the page.
Kiss Me - Movie Kiss Montage
Song: Kiss Me by Six Pence None The Richer
Ghost
This kiss was actually not effective for me. I have put it on the list by popular demand. I actually laughed through this scene, but to each his own.
The Princess Bride
(1987)
Is this a kissing book?
Well apparently it is!
Lady and the Tramp
(1955)
Often imitated, never duplicated.

It's A Wonderful Life
(1946)
Quite a kiss for a Christmas movie!
Kiss Like a Star: Smooching Secrets from the Silver Screen
Rainman
This kiss is proof that awkwardness contributes to a great kiss. The ultimate in rooting for the underdog - Rainman in the elevator with his brother's girl.
Dirty Dancing
(1987)
The Ultimate PDA (public display of affection)
Finally kissing in public after so much falling in love in private.
What makes it great? - What is it about the kiss?
What is it that makes a kiss in a movie great? Is it the actual kiss or the characters that do the kissing?
What is it that makes a kiss in a movie great? Is it the actual kiss or the characters that do the kissing?
Movie Kiss Montages - Video Montages of Amazing Kisses on Film
Goonies
Hmmm. Another underdog kissing his brother's girl. I love it! This kiss was great. Again, awkward and unexpected. With the sense of emanating danger, the spooky setting, and an absolutely lovable little nerd. How can you not be pleased to watch this first kiss?
Spiderman
The ultimate solution to the question "where do the noses go?"
And, the rain! A kiss in the rain always gets bonus points. Passion supersedes having sense enough to come in out of the rain.
Breakfast at Tiffany's
(1961)
More rain.
What is it about the rain that just makes the kiss work?
Gone With The Wind
(1941)
The definition of a classic.
Some Kind of Wonderful
(1987)
The old "let me teach you" trick, eh?
He does not need any lessons.
And, if you couldn't figure out the end of the movie by this kiss alone then you're in need of some real relationship therapy.
The Wedding Singer
(1998)
Hmm. Apparently, practice kisses were big in the eighties.
Ladies, don't let your man practice the kiss on someone else! They always end up with her in the end.
Casablanca
(1943)
Absolutely timeless.
The Art of Kissing - 2nd Revised Edition
The Empire Strikes Back
To appease the Sci-fi folks who needed an out-of-this-world kiss.
NOTE:
I specifically chose this kiss from the Star Wars trilogy rather than the one when Princess Leia kissed her brother (Luke).
A Mighty Wind
(2003)
Any kiss by Eugene Levy is memorable.
(I just creeped myself out.)
Well, it is memorable.
Watch this kiss from A Mighty Wind
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
(2005)
By far, the best film kiss that ends with a punch in the face.
Titanic
(1997)
Okay, be honest...you we're hoping the wind knocked them down, too, right?
The Notebook
(2005)
Okay, Okay. By popular demand...The Notebook.
Another kiss in the rain. We've already learned that rain helps a kiss. Oh, and this one has him lifting her - that's another biggie. When a man is lifting a woman in a field, it's love!
Watch a video of the kiss from The Notebook.
Where It All Started - The First Kiss on Film
Shrek
(2001)
Hands down, the best ogre-on-ogre kiss on film.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
(2006)
Personally, I saw too much bacteria on the screen for this kiss to work for me, but to each his own.
Daredevil
Daredevil and Electra, without their spandex, kiss in the rain where he can "see" her. Again, the rain factor helps.
Casper - 1995
The first kiss for both of them, and he turned back into a ghost midway through! A beautiful kiss, that is actually appropriate for a 12 year old.
Watch a video of the kiss from Casper
From Here to Eternity
(1953)
"I never knew it could be like this. Nobody ever kissed me the way you do"
In those Hawaiian waves, this is the kiss that every 16 year old girl is just dying for (and we all know she'll be waiting on it for quite some time).
On Golden Pond
(1981)
The love we all dream of having until we are old.
Have I hit all the big ones, or does another movie kiss really do it for you?
Let me know.

Yes did hit the Big ones.
May I ask you how you insert the links,I am trying for some time with no success.:)
Joebeducci on October 25, 2013:
Really interesting lens! I remember reading about the kiss in the Hitchcock classic ''Notorious.'' It was the longest kiss in the history of movies in the time. It was not just one kiss however, but the production code forbade a kiss lasting longer than three seconds, so Bergman and Grant alternate kissing with dialogue and eyeplay, while never leaving one another's arms (http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/great-movie-noto...

@Tous88: Totally agree with you on "Never Been Kissed." Really moving scene and the way Drew Barrymore wraps her arms around Michael Vartan's neck (twice) is sweet and passionate.
SamanthaHaupt on August 13, 2013:
Great list. The Notebook by far has the best movie kiss!! I also agree with Tous88 to add Never Been Kissed to the list!
Tous88 on July 31, 2013:
Wow, great list. I'm surprised you didn't put "Never Been Kissed" or "The Replacements" If you haven't watched them in a while, they both happen in the end. Very worth it! (Replacements has another great kiss prior to the last game which is also great cause it's swept in by some awesome Voice Over work).
anonymous on July 16, 2013:
Ghost!
anonymous on July 15, 2013:
Enjoyed the lens. Thanks, also for stopping by mine and liking it. I appreciate it!
octopen on July 11, 2013:
I suppose it is not really a movie, but in Downton Abbey when Sybil and Branson kissed for the first time. AAAAAAhhhh cutest moment ever!
WhiteIsland on June 21, 2013:
I love the 'forced' kiss between Amy Adams and Matthew Goode in Leap Year (love that whole scene, actually). Maybe not classic (yet), but sweet. ;) Han and Leia also work... the character chemistry and love-hate relationship make it fantastic.
ChristyZ on June 20, 2013:
The Titanic and the Notebook kiss are my all time favorites, both kissing scenes make me cry every time I see them, lol. :)
Elyn MacInnis from Shanghai, China on June 19, 2013:

tanaribel on March 24, 2013:
Excellent collection. Thank you!
anonymous on March 22, 2013:
@anonymous: I thought this was the sexiest kiss I have ever seen. I had to buy the video to just see the kiss over and over. I could feel that kiss and i would agree that it is orgasmi. It was a goodbye kiss and it was a beginning of the end kiss. But it was a kiss that looked worth it. Gere was one sexy kisser but I never saw another of his or anyone else as sexy as this one.
Rosanna Grace on March 21, 2013:
Baz's contemporary take on Romeo and Juliet with Claire Danes and Leo Di Cap. The soundtrack "Kissing You" by Des'ree makes that scene in my humble opinion. :)
anonymous on March 21, 2013:

The Notebook is my favorite, both kiss and movie:)
anonymous on March 14, 2013:
My favorite screen kiss is between Grace Kelly and Jimmy Stewart in Rear Window. He's asleep, and this scary shadow moves over his face, then the camera angle changes and we see her floating towards us like an angel. Then they kiss. Just beautiful
anonymous on March 14, 2013:
@anonymous: Totally agree with this comment. Great kiss.
Did anybody think about that Here to Eternity kiss and the temp of the water? That is a cold Pacific that was washing over them.

There is a beautiful Italian movie called "Cinema Paradiso", if you haven't watched it I strongly recommend it. Besies the beautiful story around the town movie theatre, you see how all kiss scnens where cut out of the movie before it was shown to the public. One of my favorites is from the movie The Luck of the Irish with Tyrone Power. Included in the cast was Jayne Meadows as his girlfriend. When the two of them kissed, it was remarkable considering the movie was from the 40s or 50s. It caused the director to comment "I don't know who was eating who."
anonymous on February 13, 2013:
Thorn Birds mini series, the kiss on the beach!
anonymous on February 10, 2013:
My favorite of all time is from the movie "Catch and Release" and the kiss is between Jennifer Garner and Timothy Olyphant - OMG. Best ever !!!!

I forgot one more...Kevin Coster & Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio in ROBIN HOOD: PRINCE OF THIEVES after he's saved her from evil Alan Rickman, the Sheriff of Nottingham.
anonymous on February 05, 2013:
Oh, you missed quite a few. But, I'll limit my suggestions to five. Can't go wrong with these. How could you not include ONE kissing scene with Cary Grant?!?! The man could teach a semester-long course on memorable kissing scenes! Watch these on YouTube:
1) Jean Arthur & Joel McCrea in THE MORE THE MERRIER - watch all 4.5 minutes, from the walk to the stairs to when she can barely catch her balance to go up to her room; sexy, seductive & hilarious
2) Cary Grant & Grace Kelly in TO CATCH A THIEF - there are two kisses, the one at the door & the one when she seduces him into holding "her diamonds" & fireworks explode behind them
3) Cary Grant & Eva Marie Saint in NORTH BY NORTHWEST - the moving kiss in her train stateroom shot through a somehow transparent wall is electric!
4) Tony Curtis & Marilyn Monroe in SOME LIKE IT HOT - He's impersonating Cary Grant & she steams up his glasses while trying to get a rise out of him. Literally. Because he's claimed to be impotent. Because there's nothing so irresistible to a woman as a guy who is not interested in women. It's intercut w/scenes of Jack Lemmon doing the tango in drag with Joe E. Lewis. It's a great kissing scene precisely because Curtis is trying so hard to *not* be aroused by MM, so she does all the work. Monroe's flawless comic timing is the piece de resistance to this kissing souffle. "So inhale!"
5) Glenn Ford & Rita Hayworth in GILDA - They have a past, she just married his boss, and it's film noir. "I hate you too, Johnny. I hate you so much, I think I'm going to die from it." Ooooooo!
anonymous on February 05, 2013:
Richard Gere and Julia Ormond in "First Knight". The kiss when she "asks" him to as he is leaving here. The way he crosses the room to her and just slams their lips together...oh my!
JimboBimbo on February 04, 2013:
What a fantastic idea for a lens.. OK, admittedly, it's not a kiss scene from a movie (or even a kiss for that matter), but I still laugh every time I watch the episode of Friends with Chandler and Phoebe pretending they want to kiss each other, getting closer and closer to that awesome moment, and finally pulling away in panic before it goes to far!
anonymous on February 04, 2013:
WHat about ROcky and Adrian in Rocky 1????? Awesome and tender!
anonymous on February 03, 2013:
Oh my, you forgot Daniel Day-Lewis and Madeline Stowe in LAST OF THE MOHICANS!!!
alexbricker on February 02, 2013:
I liked the kiss in Groundhog Day. The scene at the end where Bill Murray kisses Andie MacDowell. He finally turns into a good guy and learns his lesson when he begins to help and serve others besides himself.
anonymous on January 31, 2013:
Robert Redford and Barbra Striesand in "The Way We Were"
anonymous on January 30, 2013:
Val kilmer and elizabeth shue in the Saint
Tasha Marie from Mahomet, Illinois on January 29, 2013:
I have a tie! The Notebook kiss and Some Kind of Wonderful! Best Kisses ever! Great lens.....Love it!
