We Are Chaos
We Are Chaos is musician Marilyn Manson's 11th album in his stunning and sometimes controversial music career. Teaming up with Shooter Jennings, this album has scored number 1 on Billboard's Top Rock Albums along with other spots on the charts.
Shooter Jennings, son of legendary musicians Waylon Jennings and Jessi Coulter, helped write and produce We Are Chaos. Although Shooter has country music in his blood, he says the influence of Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, and Marilyn Manson helped get him into music and made him want to play guitar.
The pair say they have wanted to work together since they recorded music for the television show Sons of Anarchy. So, this album is a big deal. Jennings says Manson's miraculous poetic ability doesn't grow cold like a lot of songwriting does.
Halfway and One Step Forward
I haven't had the chance to listen throughly to each song on the album, however I can tell you the ones I love so far. "Halfway and One Step Forward" is poetically written and his voice is haunting as he sings lyrics like "Ring all the bells you can ring/there's a crack in everything/that's how the sunlight gets in." "Don't Chase the Dead" sounds the most like Manson's earlier work with his voice screaming "don't chase the dead/or they'll end up chasing you." Then there's the song "Paint You with my Love" which whispers lyrics like "It's not a life sentence/but a death dream for you."
Every song on the album is masterfully designed. This album surpasses the expectations of any fan of Marilyn Manson. The musical and lyrical creations that come from Manson teaming up with Shooter Jennings are timeless.
