Mabel added that she tries to "rise above" the negativity and focus on her "real fans".

She said: "I just try and rise above it and remember that the people who write those comments are not my fans, and they don't represent the majority of people who listen to my music".

"My real fans are the ones who come to my shows and sing my songs back to me, and that's who I make music for."

Mabel's comments come after she hit back at trolls who criticised her for not writing her own songs.

The singer, who is signed to Rita Ora's label Atlantic Records, insisted that she is "proud" of her songwriting credits.

She tweeted: "For anyone wondering, I write ALL of my own songs. I'm proud of that.

"I also co-write with some incredible writers who I learn so much from. There's no shame in that, we all have different processes."
