There is no doubt that the biggest transformation in the first season of Dragon Ball Super is the Ultra Instinct. Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue cannot even compare to the hype that Ultra Instinct had when it was still unseen. It has blown everyone's mind when it first appeared. However, there are two things that makes this form broken: the execution and the unexplained "heat".
The failed execution of Ultra Instinct
The concept of Ultra Instinct is not bad. By separating the sense of the body and consciousness, the user can dodge any threat and counterattack without even thinking about it. The Ultra Instinct execution for Whis (and Beerus in the manga) are the best examples of Ultra Instinct done well. You can clearly see Whis' technique and movements as well as Beerus in the manga.
What's with Ultra Instinct and heat?
What I hate about Ultra Instinct is that Whis and the others supposed to know everything about it. Just like what Einstein said, if you can't explain it, you don't understand enough of it. Whis' explanation is so lackluster that if you think about it, it doesn't make sense. It is not even explained why Goku was able to emit that huge amount of heat and why the heat is there. Is the heat the latent potential from Goku's body? Why Goku's mastered Ultra Instinct can produce that much heat? Or is the heat the sign that Goku is breaking out of his shell?
Hopefully, we will know more about this in the second season of Dragon Ball Super. And that's only possible if Goku will once again achieve Ultra Instinct. It is more likely that Vegeta will focus on his evolved Super Saiyan Blue instead of Ultra Instinct. Hopefully, we can see the two forms clash in the future.
