Reverend Barry & the Funk

There is a music funk buzz around southwest Florida that has made its way to the desk of Artie Fletcher up in Clearwater FL. Artie Fletcher is a synonymous figure within various levels of the entertainment industry. From film and television to commercial, voice overs, stand-up comedy and more.

Recently the Buzz about an 8 piece Funk band which features a 3-piece horn section and 3 Grammy Nominated performers from Sarasota Florida called “Reverend Barry and the Funk” got the attention of Artie through many of his friends that have seen the funk show and contacted Barry Nicholson AKA Reverend Barry the bands leader. Mr Fletcher liked the band so much that he is now personally handling the management and booking of the band. It has also been confirmed that the band is in the process of signing a distribution deal with The Orchard whose parent company is Sony Music Entertainment.

As it states on their web site www.reverendbarryandthefunk.com the band plays originals and covers of horn-oriented funk, soul, R&B and Motown with a mixture of “Earth, Wind & Fire, Tower of Power, Prince, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Tina Turner, Sly & the Family Stone, Rick James and others. With such an array of musically inspired talent of the past it is no surprise that Reverend Barry and the Funk are attracting large crowds and thanks to social media channels their funk style is spreading fast. In fact according to Sirius Radio from Soul Town Programing they are continually getting requests for “Loveshine” which is great for an unsigned band, which normally doesn’t happen. Other stations that are playing the song include KISS FM in Utica NY and Albany. Other I-Heart KISS stations include 103.7, Gainesville FL 100.3, Greensboro, NC 102.7, L.A, 103.7, Wisconsin 97.9 along with a dozen other I-Heart KISS stations with more to be added. On their Facebook page the “LoveShine music video” is burning up with 30, 000 views in three weeks. Other Hot Hit tunes coming out of the Funk Camp include “Sexy Good Love” and “You Better Know”.

According to an interview conducted by Dream Chasers Radio for Q&A answered by Artie Fletcher where he talks about his history in the entertainment business and how he got started. He also stated in order to further spread the word about Reverend Barry & the Funk he has sent “Loveshine” to the following notable entertainers whom have provided the following Quotes: “Reverend Barry & the Funk! Love Shine is a hit they got the funk -“Tower of Power”, “Them boys are the Funk- “Jimmy Hall-Jeff Beck Group-Wet Willie-Hank Williams Jr” Love Shine is a Hit, They are Talented “Eddie Money” and They have that Sly & the Family Stone Sound fun and talented “Mark Farner-Grand Funk Railroad”. With these types of Quotes coming in from across the music spectrum it’s only a matter of time before Reverend Barry & the Funk becomes a national Hit where everyone knows their music and name and it will be well deserved.
