The Well-Tempered Artist

Michelle Zacharia was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, raised in Mexico City and Davie, Florida, and was voted "Most Talented" in her class of 500 at Western High School. Michelle is a graduate of the State University of New York (S.U.N.Y), Purchase, New York, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Upon graduating, she moved to Omaha, Nebraska to join the art department of the newly created, now highly regarded, Blue Barn Theater, known for daring American theater.

My Sister, Angora the Cat

True Family Entertainment

The voice of Angora the Cat on the television cartoon, "Horseland" (10:30 AM on AOL Kids "Kewlopolis" on CBS Saturday mornings), is my baby sister, Michelle Zacharia. If you've ever watched "Horseland", you know Angora is that precious curmudgeon kitty with the worldly utterings. Trés adorable, n'est pas?

Michelle's handsome companion in the photo is named Panzón, and he used to belong to a neighbor. Mishy fell in love with Panzón and wanted to bring him indoors and her neighbor allowed her to adopt him. The two have appeared in the newspaper in Omaha, Nebraska, where they live and where Panzón is admired for his fashion sense.

In Omaha, Michelle is well-known in the theater community both for her performances as well as for her visionary stage designs, and earlier, for the masterful woodcut posters she created for the Blue Barn Theater, where she is a founding member. Michelle has received awards and critical acclaim for her work.

So it was a natural that when "Horseland" was auditioning in Omaha, Susie Baer Collins and Terri Ware would think of Mishy. Susie Baer Collins is "Horseland's" Voice director and Associate Artistic Director of the Omaha Community Playhouse. The Playhouse's history is fascinating and full of big names: Click "About OCP" and then "History" to learn who they are. Terri Ware and her husband own Ware House Productions, where "Horseland" and many other cartoons have been recorded for DIC Entertainment over the last ten years.

As a family, we were on pins and needles, because who wouldn't want their little sister on CBS Saturday morning television? We can't wait for the world to know how brilliant and talented she is! And yes, she is!!!!

Really Michelle?? I accidentally turn on Horseland on Saturday mornings before my coffee kicks in and in a matter of minutes, I'm completely enthralled in the always heroic plot. Amazing. Congratulations on your very cool career!

Angora is the reason why I watch Horseland. Every Saturday morning I get my Angora fix. Horseland would not be the same without her. ANGORA ROCKS!!!!

Hi,

I'm a friend of Michelle's from Western. I've been quietly stalking/observing her career at the Blue Barn since we saw each other at the 10 year reunion. I am so proud she's continuing in the arts. She was always so amazingly talented. My kids and I watch Horseland and now I'll have to pay attention to who's who and listen to the voice! Tell Michelle I'm so happy for her and I said Hi.
