Hot Farrah Fawcett Pics: Ode to a timeless beauty

What do you think of when you hear the word pinup?

Betty Boop? Betty Paige? Pam Anderson? Marilyn Monroe?

In my mind, I see a poster of Farrah Fawcett in a red bikini. The long curly blond hair. The smile. The white teeth. And pokies. It's the popular one in the 70's that sold over 12 million copies. Now since I was too young at the time, I never had a copy but it was so popular that it comes to mind.

Like most, I first learned of Farah Fawcett in the seventies TV show, Charlie's Angels, as she played Jill Munroe. Although I wasn't a big fan of the show, I used a few of Charlie's Angels posters as book covers. It was the famous image with the three silhouttes of the three Angels. I assumed that Farrah Fawcett was one of them.

Farrah Fawcett: Cancer Tragedy

When I first heard of news with Farrah Fawcett battling cancer, I thought she was receiving treatment for breast cancer. After all, breast cancer seems to be the most common cancer for women, at least from what I hear in the news. Since I thought it was breast cancer, my initial reaction was not that of alarm because many women celebrities had received successful treatment of breast cancer.

It wasn't until circa April-May 2009 when Farrah had been rushed to the hospital under critical conditions that I realized she was suffering from anal cancer. She died on June 25, 2009 at the age of 62.

There's a really a lot to be said about Farrah Fawcett (can you believe that to this day some people still spell her name as Farrah Faucett?). Going just from memory (and this from someone who doesn't know much about her career), I know that she was married to Lee Majors, The Six Million Dollar Man, back in the 70's. At the time, she was billed as Farrah Fawcett-Majors. She ended up divorcing Lee Majors for his best friend, Ryan O'Neal. I think we all know how that ended up.

Does anyone know if Lee still talks to Ryan?

When Logan's Run came out in 1976, there was a big fuzz over Farrah's casting. It was a very small part, but I think it was her movie debut. She had been doing TV and commercials since 1969.

1976 proved to be a remarkable year for Ms. Fawcett. That's the year when Charlie's Angels debuted. That's also the year her famous poster was released.

In March 2006, Farrah Fawcett was named by the Australian mens magazine Zoo Weekly as one of the "Top 50 Hottest Babes Ever". In 2007, GQ acknowledged her famous poster as “the most influential piece of men’s art of the last 50 years.”

Lately, I've been seeing tabloid pictures of Farrah mainly paparazzi pics as part of her bout with cancer. I'm not sure if what I see is all her, but if they are, then she is truly timeless.

More information on Farrah Fawcett on her website and her IMDB bio.

So what did Farrah Fawcett drive?  George Barris, the legendary car customizer for the stars, worked with Farrah in customizing a 1970 Corvette Stingray and turned it into Farrah's Foxy Vette.  The car was sold off on an eBay auction sometime in the early 2000s to an unknown owner.

Rebel-CC, TX. on November 19, 2011:

I am proud to say I went to the same Middle School (Hamlin Jr, High- Rebels) as Farrah and grew up also in Corpus Christi, TX. as did Farrah Fawcett.

I even had the same English teacher Farrah had.

Looking back I find it so cool I walked to the same school and played on the same play ground as Farrah did when we were kids. I am 18 years younger than she was but it is just eerie but cool that I share this with Farrah.

I always wished I could have met her and talked about Corpus and Hamlin and what teachers she had.

I also had that poster of her with the red bathing suit in my room. At the time I didn't know she was from CC, TX.

But news finally leaked she was from my home town, I couldn't believe it.

I always loved Farrah. When we all found she had terminal cancer I got really interested in her again.

So I done a lot of research on her life in CC, TX. at local libraries since then.

I want everyone to know I am very appalled at my home town of Corpus Christi, TX. for never building a memorial in honor of Farrah Fawcett. Recognizing her as being from Corpus Christi, TX. She was the most famous person from this city (born & raised) and this stupid city has not lifted a finger to let the world know Farrah Fawcett grew up here out of respect and honor for her fame.

The singer Selina has a statue on our sea wall and she was not nearly as famous Farrah, not even close.

I will make it my mission to see to it Farrah gets a memorial on our beautiful sea wall.

I will be starting a petition soon to do this and put it before our city council.

No one else seems to be doing anything.

It is the least this city could do for our most famous home town girl.

I urge anyone reading this if you loved Farrah Fawcett to please write our city council letters in Corpus Christi, TX. and request Farrah Fawcett get a Memorial on our Sea Wall. And if you ever come to vacation here you can visit it and feel proud you had a say in this Memorial being erected.

Please, everyone call or write your requests.

Corpus Christi should be ashamed for never doing this on there own.

Farrah Fawcett is an american icon and everyone in the world knows who she is.

Our city council is morons.

Corpus Christi may be a small city but it has had some high profile actors and singers come from here.

Other than Farrah Fawcett there is Eva Longoria another beauty, Selina (tejano singer) Lou Diamond Phillips, Babara Mandrell country singer (her sisters were born here), Don Williams (country singer), Freddy Fender (born in San Benito, TX.) but lived out his life in CC, TX.

There is tons more but these are the one's that come to mind.

Farrah Fawcett is #1, not only for her level of stardom but she was born and raised here.

But yet Corpus does nothing in her honor.

What a shame.

She was a real and big star of all times; we miss Farrah a lot. Her talent and intelligence along with her incredible personality and beauty makes her so special. May she rest in peace. I've been her fan since the very first moment I saw Charlie's Angels and, later, I followed her career through the years.

I watched her on charlies angel and she is a great actor. I pray that God is with her and her family. I believe her coming forward and sharing her experience will help someone. God can do anything but fail. May he keep her and her family

Wow. Talk about memories. I was in Catholic school I remember walking home from school and seeing the famous pic of Farrah in the whole piece bathing suit. We all had it men and woman. Farrah you were my mentor and was so kind and sweet in every interview. I grew up on Charlies Angels. I just want you to know I am also kind and sweet and I owe some of that to you. I am now 12 yrs younger than you and YOU ARE STILL MY MENTOR. Just to let everyone know that Hott is not just exterior Hott is skin deep and from the heart that is real beauty that she possessed. xo and I wish you a "Miracle of Recovery"

I thought that she'd bring back memories for many of you. She did for me.

I was in junior high when that poster of her in the red one-pc swimsuit came out. A boy in my class had a t-shirt with that poster on it. He was banned from wearing it to school. It was way too much for young boys to be seeing a hint of nipples. Boy, how times have changed.

Dink96 from Phoenix, AZ on April 17, 2009:

I think every guy (and young boy) had that poster of Farrah in the red bathing suit in their room back in the day. She was and remains a very classy actress and artist. My thoughts are with her as she battles this same disease that took my husband's mother when he was very young.

This is a great tribute to the beautiful Farrah Fawcett. Just this morning my wife was telling me that Farrah was down to 86 pounds. My heart goes out to her and her family. Hopefully she will get better.
