Deadly Halloween Night Attraction

Haunt follows a group of friends on Halloween night looking for something entertaining to do, landing on a maze on the edge of town that claims to feed on their worst fears. But the night becomes deadly when they begin to get killed off one by one in the maze, as they try to survive the night and escape.

Haunt stars Harper (Katie Stevens), Nathan (Will Brittain), Bailey (Lauryn Alisa McClain), Evan as Andrew Caldwell (Andrew Lewis Caldwell), Angela (Shazi Rate), and Mallory (Schuyler Helford).

Haunt was a movie I heard nothing about before watching, except for some good words through some websites. So I had no expectations coming into it and I came out not disappointed. Directed by Eli Roth, who I think is one of the most skilled directors in horror media. If you are looking for an entertaining slasher movie I think Haunt is a great option to fulfill your needs.

The group of friends are the worst flaw when it comes to this movie, most of them have no personality whatsoever. So when they die you don't care much for them. But I think Harper has an entertaining enough backstory coming from an abusive household leading her to find an abusive boyfriend. By the end of the movie, she turns into a badass ending most of the villains by herself and even setting up a deadly Home Alone style booby trap for Clown who shows up at her house.

The villains had cool-looking masks, along with a unique look under their masks. But apart from that, they had no characterization at all, I think Jason Voorhees beats them in likeability in the end. Along with this being said, I think they made a lot of bad decisions being killed in ways that could have been avoided. Also, the shotgun trap that was rigged in the long hallway, does not have that many shots. It should have stopped firing after the second shot. So that part brought me out of it since it was very unrealistic.

In the end, I will recommend anyone to watch this movie at least once. The movie does not hold back when it comes to killing and it is refreshing to see. This movie might spawn some sequels or even a prequel to explain the reasoning behind the villains apart from shere chaos.

Final Score: 7 out of 10 Extreme Haunts
