Hallmark Actress: Holly Robinson Peete

Margaret Minnicks has been an online writer for many years. She writes about various topics including celebrities and entertainment.

Holly Elizabeth Robinson Peete was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 18, 1964. At the time of this writing, she is 57 years old. That means she is one of the oldest Hallmark actresses.

Her career started in 1969 much longer before some of the thirty-something Hallmark actors were born. If you are good at math, you would see that Holly was only five years old when she began acting. Also, you will see that she has been acting for almost 53 years.

Holly graduated from Sarah Lawrence College in New York in 1986 with a degree in Psychology and French. She gave up the idea of working for the U.S. State Department and decided to launch a career in acting instead. She didn't have a problem finding a role on a television series and in two films soon after graduation.

Before Hallmark

Holly made her first television appearance by playing a little girl named Sally on the very first episode of Sesame Street. Her Sesame Street career lasted only two episodes because she played alongside Gordon, her father in real life. She kept saying "Hi, Daddy" instead of "Hi, Gordon." Therefore, her role was changed to her just walking down the street with Big Bird without having to say anything.

At the age of 11, Holly worked for the children's show Kidsworld as a celebrity correspondent where she interviewed many actors and actresses for the program. Little did she know she would grow up to be an actress herself.

Not only did Holly become an actress, but she is also a singer. Holly's official debut role was when she sang the theme songs on Fox's 21 Jump Street and Hangin' with Mr. Cooper in 1987. In 1992, she portrayed Diana Ross in The Jacksons: An American Dream.
