Danica Mae McKellar was born in La Jolla, California on January 3, 1975. Her acting career started in 1985 when she was only ten years old. Danica is one smart lady. She earned a bachelor of science degree summa cum laude in mathematics in 1998 from the University of California in Los Angeles.

Danica's first acting role was in The Wonder Years for six seasons on ABC from 1988 to 1993. In interviews, she often tells that her first kiss was with Fred Savage on the series.

Danica McKellar Left Hallmark to Produce on GAC

Danica's last movie on the Hallmark Channel was You, Me, & the Christmas Trees which premiered on October 22, 2021.

According to Deadline, Danica has signed an exclusive deal through 2023 with the GAC Family, formerly known as Great American Country. The agreement is for her to star in and be the executive producer of four new films, starting with the premiere of The Winter Palace in January 2022.

McKellar told the Wall Street Journal she moved over to GAC because she liked working with former Hallmark Channel CEO Bill Abbott. She said after Abbott launched GAC Family and GAC Living, he reached out to her and offered her a multi-picture deal as an actress and executive producer.

McKellar joins other Hallmark actors who have already moved or are moving over to the GAC Family after having been on the Hallmark Channel for a long time. So far, the list includes Cameron Mathison, Chad Michael Murray, Maggie Lawson, Jen Lilley, Cindy Busby, Trevor Donovan, Daniel Lissing, Lori Loughlin, and other Hallmark veteran actors.

Personal Life

McKellar has been married twice. She first married composer Michael "Mike" Verta on March 22, 2009, in La Jolla, California after they dated for eight years. They became parents of a son named Draco in 2010. Two years later, Danica filed for divorce in June 2012, citing irreconcilable differences.

In spite of Danica's career, she homeschools Draco. Many of the themes in her math books were inspired when she was teaching her son.

Danica and attorney Scott Sveslosky became engaged on July 16, 2014. They got married in Kauai, Hawaii just four months later on November 15, 2014. They have no children together, but both of them have sons from previous marriages. Scott's son is six years older than Draco. Danica has been open about wanting children with Scott. When she found out that was not possible, she said they have accepted it, and they are happy with their blended family.
