Alison Ann Sweeney was born on September 19, 1976 in Los Angeles, California. The actress made her television debut in 1981 when she was only five years old in a Kodak advertisement. When she was 16 years old, Alison played the part of Samantha "Sami" Brady in the NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives from January 6, 1993 to October 30, 2014. She reprised her role 24 later on October 13, 2017.

She received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination, four Soap Opera Digest Awards and a Fan Voted Daytime Emmy Award. She won her first Daytime Emmy in 2002 for being “America’s Favorite Villain.”

Sweeney also worked at the ABC soap opera General Hospital but not as an actress. She worked behind the scenes as a director.

Not only is Alison a talented actress, but she is also a reality show host and an author. In 2007, she became the host of The Biggest Loser in its fourth season in 2007 until season sixteen in 2015.

Personal Life

Alison studied Economics at UCLA. She did not graduate. She left college because of her commitment to the soap opera Days of Our Lives.

Sweeney is the author of three books:

  1. The Star Attraction
  2. Scared Scriptless: A Novel
  3. Opportunity Knocks

After dating for nearly three years, Alison and a police officer, David Sanov, married on July 8, 2000. They are the proud parents of two children: a son named Benjamin, born on February 25, 2005, and a daughter named Megan, born on January 12, 2009. The family lives in Los Angeles where Alison was born.
