Dylan Jeremy Neal was born in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada on October 8, 1969. He has dual citizenship in both Canada and the United States.

Initially, he wanted to become a professional squash player when he was a student at his prep school, Appleby College. He played for Canada at an international level. After many years of playing squash, he changed his mind about having a professional squash career.

Dylan Neal's Acting Career

His drama teacher at Blakelock High School encouraged Dylan to sign with a Toronto talent agent, and he began auditioning professionally.

His acting career started in 1987. Like many of the other Hallmark actors, Dylan was a soap opera star. He is known for his portrayal in 119 episodes as Dylan Shaw on the soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful from1994-1996.

In 2013, Neal landed the lead role opposite Andie MacDowell in the Hallmark Channel's first scripted TV series, Cedar Cove based on Debbie Macomber's series by the same name. Neal held that role from its premiere on July 20, 2013 until its cancelation in 2015.

In 2014, while he was still starring on Cedar Cove, Neal and his wife, Becky Southwell, wrote and produced their own projects through Southwell Neal Entertainment. Hallmark accepted their Gourmet Detective original films for the newly rebranded Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel.

Not only is Dylan the writer and executive producer, but he also stars as Henry Ross. The series has not been canceled like Cedar Cove and so many other series.

Dylan played Bob Adams, stepfather to Anastasia Steele in all three of the Fifty Shades of Grey movies in 2015, 2017, and 2018.

Dylan Neal's Hallmark Presence

Dylan Neal's list of Hallmark movies is not as long as many other Hallmark actors because he has appeared in more series than in stand-alone movies. Not only that, but while he was acting on Hallmark, he was also in movies on Lifetime and other networks.

Neal's Hallmark experience includes two popular series. He was a regular on Cedar Cove with Andie McDowell. The series is based on international best-selling author Debbie Macomber's series of books with the same name and premiered on the Hallmark Channel from 2013 to 2015.

While still acting on Cedar Cove, Dylan began writing, executive producing, and starring in The Gourmet Detective series for the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel.

Personal Life

Neal married his longtime girlfriend Becky Southwell on September 21, 1996. They have two children: a daughter named Bella and a son named Griff.

Becky is a television writer with her husband. She and Dylan write and produce their own projects through Southwell Neal Entertainment. They write and executive produce the Gourmet Detective original films for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries based on the novels by Peter King. Since May 16, 2015, Neal and Becky have made five movies in the series, and they are expected to make more.
