Hallmark Actor: Aaron O'Connell

Margaret Minnicks has been an online writer for many years. She writes about various topics including celebrities and entertainment.

Aaron John O'Connell was born in Dayton, Ohio on April 8, 1986. He is an American model and actor. He began modeling for Ford Models in 2006 while he was still in college. Since then, Aaron has appeared in major publications, such as GQ, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Vogue Paris, Arena Homme +, and VMAN. He has also modeled in apparel for Abercrombie & Fitch, Hanes, Lucky Jeans, Ralph Lauren, Champion, and Jockey.

O'Connell's First Acting Job

Aaron started his acting career at the Actors Studio in Chicago, Illinois. Then he moved to Los Angeles for more opportunities in his modeling and acting dual career. It turned out to be more than he expected.

He was fortunate to be assigned to several commercials. While modeling for Liquid-Plumr, he was seen by Tyler Perry. O'Connell thought it was a joke when he was first contacted by Tyler Perry's Production Company.

Then Perry himself got in touch with him over Skype. Aaron was invited personally by Perry to audition for a role in a new television series he was writing, producing, and directing. Instead of Aaron going to see Tyler, the movie mogul traveled to Los Angeles to meet with Aaron about the role of Wyatt Cryer on The Haves and the Have Nots. He was actually the first one to be discovered and contracted to be a member of the cast. O'Connell appeared in every season from 2013 until the long-running series ended in 2021.

Aaron O'Connell's Acting Career

Aaron's first official acting role was playing the part of Wyatt Cryer in the prime-time television drama The Haves and the Have Nots.

Wyatt was the deeply troubled drug addict son of wealthy parents, Jim and Katheryn Cryer. During the entire time of the long-running show, Wyatt was either in rehab for drug abuse and alcoholism or in the hospital for overdosing. He ended up shooting his own parents because they kept him from spending his large inheritance on drugs.

Even while acting on The Haves and the Have Nots on OWN, O'Connell had roles in movies on other networks.

A Prince for Christmas

On November 29, 2015, A Prince for Christmas premiered on Starz network. In the romantic drama, Aaron O'Connell plays the part of Todd, a car salesman, who has just broken up with Emma, played by Viva Bianca, a single woman who owns a diner.

Blending Christmas

Blending Christmas is a Lifetime movie that premiered on December 12, 2021. Aaron co-starred with Haylie Duff in the role of Emma who learns that the resort where she used to spend Christmases with her family is being redeveloped.

Aaron O'Connell's Hallmark Career

Aaron began a career on the Hallmark Channel in 2015. So far, he has been in only two Hallmark movies.

12 Gifts of Christmas

Aaron's first start with Hallmark was having a leading part in a Christmas movie in 2015. He was cast in the role of Marc Rehnquist, a company executive, who was too busy to do Christmas shopping for his family, friends and employees. With just two weeks before Christmas, he hires a personal shopper and discovers the true meaning of Christmas. He eventually falls in love with Anna Parisi, played by Katrina Law.

With Love, Christmas

In 2017, O'Connell starred in his second Hallmark Channel movie as Donovan Goodwin who works at an advertising agency with Melanie Welsh, played by Emilie Ullerup. Melanie and Donovan must work together on a Christmas ad. The problem is Melanie loves Christmas, but Donovan doesn't. As they work together, the pair discovers they do have some things in common.

As you can see, Aaron O'Connell's roles have been in Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channel as well as on other networks. That is not to say he will do only seasonal movies. Now that he is no longer performing on The Haves and the Have Nots, he might do more Hallmark movies. That's what Hallmark fans are hoping for.

Aaron and fashion model and real estate agent Natalie Ann Pack became engaged in September 2017. They got married less than a year later on July 21, 2018. Tyler Perry and some of The Have and Have Nots family members were at the wedding in Italy.
