Sydney Mikayla says so long to General Hospital
General Hospital fans have been enjoying the growing bond between Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chaves) and Trina Robinson (Sydney MiKayla) as well as the friendship they have with Joslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) and Cameron Webber (Will Lipton). Mikayla, Lipton, and McCoy all began college in the fall of 2021 and went on recurring status on the ABC soap. Now GH executive producer Frank Valentini has announced that Sydney has decided to focus full-time on her studies. The actress has filmed her final scenes and her last airdate will be on March 17, This is shocking news to fans who were hoping the teens would be able to juggle school work with their work on General Hospital. Makayla is to be commended for placing her studies first and perhaps at a later date she might even return to life in Port Charles. The actress gave the following statement to Soap Opera Digest regarding her current situation. “I have loved working on GH,” Mikayla told Digest, “but I feel like this is the right time to dive in and enjoy my college experience to the fullest. Thank you to Frank and the entire team for believing in me and giving me this wonderful opportunity. I will miss working with everyone every day but I am excited to see what is to come for the show.
Trina will be recast
Mikayla grew on the fans who were hoping to see her end up with Spencer once Esme Prince (Kristen Avery Pohl) is dealt with. Viewers understand the desire of the actress regarding her education at Southern California University and will wish her well. In the meantime, Tabyana Ali will be taking over the role. General Hospital just debuted a new Jordan Ashford this week so fans must get used to yet another new face in Port Charles. Briana Henry left the role of the police commissioner and now Tanisha Harper is in the role. There will naturally be some viewers who initially are not willing to give harper or Ali a chance and will compare them to her predecessors but time will tell how the recasts work out. The drama with the teens is heating up in Port Charles as Esme just released the video of Joss and Cam making love at Sonny's cabin. Some spoilers said Trina would be set up to take the fall but a preview for Monday has Joslyn accusing Cameron. She might eventually figure out that Esme is the real culprit but by then the damage will have been done.
Tabyana Ali: Getting to know her
Tabyana Ali is not to be confused with Tatyana Ali who portrayed Ashley Banks on the 1990s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. If the two are related this information has not been confirmed Tabyana's credits include the television shows The New Girl, A Kid Called Mayonaise, The Big Show, and Shimmer and Shine. Her film roles include Empire West, Somebody up Ther Likes Me, Line of Duty, Horror Noir, and the short Confined 6 # Bye bye. The actress will be stepping into big shoes and viewers will be watching to see if she develops chemistry with the other teens on the soap. Trina at this time has several possible front burner storylines as her mom Portia Robinson (Brooke Kerr) is about to move in with Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner). Spoilers have been teasing that Curtis may be Trina's biological dad rather than Marcus Taggert (Real Andrews/ Ashante Jones). It looks like the rift between Joss and Trina might get worse before it gets better but fans have confidence that the friends will eventually find their way back to each other. Joss and Cam's relationship could also take a hit but in time Esme will be found out for the snake she is and even Spencer should see the light. GH fans are hoping that Trina and Spencer will find their way to each other and time will tell if that happens or not. Best of luck to Ali in her new role on General Hospital and all the best to Sydney Mikayla as she pursues her education.
