12 More Women of Fox News
This article is a sequel to my 12 Women of Fox News article, which has proved to be a major success. Now I want to put the spotlight on a different set of Fox News Women, some of whom my readers felt should have been included in the first article.
- Gretchen Carlson
- Greta Van Susteren
- Jane Skinner
- Kimberly Guilfoyle
- Martha Maccallum
- Ainsley Earhardt
- Laura Ingle
- Catherine Herridge
- Jill Dobson
- Jamie Colby
- Molly Henneberg
- Jenna Lee
1. Gretchen Carlson
Gretchen Carlson was born in 1966 and grew up in the suburbs of Minneapolis/St Paul, Minnesota. Her family has owned an automobile dealership for more than ninety years, making it one of the oldest in the world. Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann was even her nanny once!
Gretchen was the valedictorian of her high school. In 1989, the 5'3" beauty became the first classical violinist to win the Miss America Pageant. She then graduated with honors from Stanford with a Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Behavior, a branch of Sociology. Gretchen also attended Oxford.
She worked in local television news in Richmond, Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Dallas, before getting hired by the CBS Early Show. She worked at Fox News from 2005 to 2016, beginning her stint there as host of Fox & Friends. Carlson has won two Emmy Awards and three Gracie Awards. She lives in Connecticut with her sports agent husband and two children.
2. Greta Van Susteren
Greta Van Susteren was born in 1954, and grew up in Appleton, Wisconsin, where her father was a judge. In fact, she earned her Bachelor's Degree at the University of Wisconsin (with distinction) where she majored in Economics. She has said of the Midwest:
"The Midwest has a certain sense of decency that I just don't feel in other places. I think often the media skips over the Midwest. I try and remind the rest of the country about the Midwest. I try to ask questions I think are relevant to the Midwest."
During most of the 1980s, Greta worked as an attorney, trying cases ranging from divorce to murder, and was a Professor of Law for 16 years at Georgetown University, where she received her Juris Doctor. She moved to CNN in 1990–91, where she worked most famously as a legal analyst on the OJ Simpson case.
Greta won the Presidential Award for Excellence in Journalism from the American Bar Association in 2000. Two years later she joined Fox News, where On the Record with Greta Van Susteren was a network staple until 2016, when she left to start a similar program on Newsmax. She lives in Washington, D.C., with her attorney husband, an advisor to Sarah Palin. They are Scientologists.
Fun facts: Greta has authored a book, owns a restaurant on Long Island, and is part-owner of the Green Bay Packers (she owns one share).
3. Jane Skinner
Jane Skinner was born in Chicago in 1967. Her father, Sam Skinner, served as Secretary of Transportation and White House Chief of Staff under President George H.W. Bush. Jane earned a Masters Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Northwestern University.
Jane first worked in television news in Duluth, Minnesota. She then worked for local stations in Portland (Maine), St. Louis, Milwaukee, and New York City. In 1998, Skinner was hired by Fox News and gained her greatest fame co-hosting "Happening Now" with Jon Scott.
Jane retired from Fox News in 2010 citing a desire to spend more time with her family. She lives in in Westchester, New York, with her husband, Roger Goodell (aka Commissioner of the National Football League) and their twin daughters. Jane has been described as calm, gentle, comfortable, and disarming. She enjoys literature, classical music, baking, and water skiing.
4. Kimberly Guilfoyle
Kimberly Guilfoyle was born in 1969 in San Francisco. Her mother, a special education teacher, died of Leukemia when Kimberly was ten years old, and from then on she was raised by her single father, who was in construction. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, and earned her Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco.
Kimberly has long mingled in high society. During her three-year first marriage to Gavin Newsom, then-mayor of San Francisco, she and her husband were described in Harper's Bazaar as "The New Kennedys." She has been an award winning prosecutor, briefly taught school, and modeled lingerie for Victoria's Secret. In 2005 she was named the Entertainer of the Year by the USO.
Kimberly Guilfoyle joined Fox News in February 2006 as host of the weekend crime show, The Lineup. She appeared as a legal analyst on many programs and was a regular guest on Hannity. Guilfoyle left the network in 2018, around the time she started dating Donald Trump, Jr. The couple were engaged on December 31, 2020.
5. Martha MacCallum
Martha MacCallum was born in 1964 and reared in New Jersey, where her parents were both schoolteachers. She earned a Bachelor's Degree at St. Lawrence University in upstate New York. After briefly working as a waitress, Martha began a career writing business articles for several magazines, including the Wall Street Journal.
She landed her first job in television as a business news reporter at a local station in New York City. She moved up to national news with NBC where she stayed for seven years, appearing on a variety of programs, including some on sister channel, MSNBC.
In 2004, the 5'4" MacCallum was hired by the Fox News Channel, where she served as morning anchor on America's Newsroom, but in 2017 she began hosting The Story with Martha MacCallum. Martha has been happily married since 1992 and has three children.
6. Ainsley Earhardt
Ainsley Earhardt was born in 1980. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from the University of South Carolina. Prior to being hired by Fox News, Ainsley Earhardt worked as a local news anchor, first in her hometown of Columbia, South Carolina, then in San Antonio, Texas.
Ainsley Earhardt joined Fox News in 2007, initially serving as a reporter, and then co-hosting the morning show "Fox & Friends First." She's been hosting "Fox & Friends" in 2016. A men's magazine once said that Earhardt mesmerizes men with her beauty to the point where they no longer hear what she is saying.
Ainsley got married in 2005. She enjoys running, skydiving, and flying.
7. Laura Ingle
Laura Ingle is from Sacramento, California. She worked in radio for a number of years, covering politics and sports. In fact, she won four Golden Mike awards for her radio prowess.
In 2005, the same year she received an Edward R. Murrow Award for broadcast journalism excellence, she went to work for Fox News as a Dallas-based correspondent. She worked in various capacities over the years—reporter, host, etc.—but was laid off from the network in June 2023. In the fall of 2023, Ingle joined the news channel NewsNation.
Ingle was married in 2009. She and her husband have one son.
8. Catherine Herridge
The most important fact to know about Catherine Herridge is that she underwent surgery in 2006 to donate part of her liver to her infant son and the procedure saved his life. Catherine joined Fox News at its inception in 1996 as the London correspondent. She had previously held that same post for ABC News.
Herridge spent several years at Fox News as chief intelligence correspondent, but left the network in November 2019 to join CBS News as senior investigative correspondent. That same year, Cathering was awarded the Tex McCrary Award for Journalism by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society for her enterprise reporting at Fox News.
Catherine Herridge was born in Canada in 1964. She earned her Bachelor's Degree at Harvard, and her Master's in Journalism at Columbia University. She is married and has two sons.
9. Jill Dobson
Jill Dobson was born in 1977 in the little village of Quincy, Michigan. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from Troy University, and a Master's from Michigan State University. She was also crowned Miss Michigan in 2000.
Jill first worked for local television stations in Lansing, Kalamazoo, and Grand Rapids. She then became a reporter for E! News. Jill was then hired as editor-at-large for Star magazine. She came to work for Fox News in 2007 as an entertainment correspondent, but her contract wasn't renewed in 2010.
Since then, Jill has covered entertainment new or the Associated Press and has contributed to CBS's The Early Show and HLN (formerly known as CNN Headline News).
10. Jamie Colby
Jamie Colby was born in 1970 in New York City. She's worked at Fox News from 2003 to 2019, serving as national news correspondent and weekend anchor. She authored a book with her ex-husband, who is Chief of Surgery at Metropolitan Hospital in New York City. Jamie has one child not counting her Yorkie.
Jamie won a Gracie Award in 2000 and an Edward R. Murrow Award in 2002. Prior to coming to Fox, she worked at CNN, CBS, and in local news in New York City. She enrolled at the University of Miami International Business School at the tender age of 14! She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Accounting and her Juris Doctor at age 22.
Jamie practiced law for ten years, coming to broadcast journalism by accident. She was asked to fill in for a local anchorwoman who was going on maternity leave and enjoyed it so much that she pursued it as a career. She once did a story on homeschooling, and she went into a home to see it firsthand. That experience changed her personal thoughts on the subject, later saying:
"After seeing Marianne Bareirro teach four of her kids different lesson plans at the same time and realizing how focused these kids were in the home environment, my whole perception of home schooling changed. Obviously, a picture is worth a thousand words. And these were exceptional kids: well-behaved, interested in learning, and extremely well-rounded. That had been a misconception of mine and I think many others, that homeschooled kids don't socialize with kids in traditional schools and aren't encouraged to play sports, etc."
11. Molly Henneberg
Molly Henneberg was born in 1973 in Falls Church, Virginia. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Vanderbilt with a Bachelor's Degree in English and Elementary Education. Molly intended to be a kindergarten teacher, but on the advice of her father, tried her hand at TV news.
Her first job in television was at a local news station in Hagerstown, Maryland. From there she moved to Traverse City, Michigan, and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pennsylvania. Henneberg joined Fox News in 2002 to cover the Washington, D.C., beat and stayed there through December 2014.
Molly got married in 2008 to a Marine Corps JAG. They are very active in The Falls Church, a congregation that meets in a church dating back to before the founding of the United States. She is also an obsessive Washington Commanders fan.
12. Jenna Lee
Jenna Lee was hired in 2007 for the Fox Business Network, but then appeared as a frequent guest on various Fox News programs for the next decade. She left Fox News in 2017 to launch SmartHER News, a fact-based, nonpartisan digital news platform.
Jenna earned her Bachelor's Degree in English and International Studies at the University of California, and her Master's Degree in Journalism at Columbia University. Her father was a quarterback in the National Football League (Bob Lee), and she played softball in college.
Jenna was born in 1980 in San Francisco. She is a fitness fanatic and very active; she works out, runs, and hikes regularly. Friends describe her as intense and tenacious, although she describes herself as an introvert. In 2011, she married Lieutenant Commander Leif Babin, a former Navy SEAL officer. The couple has three children and live in Texas.

ThemeFam ~ Yes, I certainly agree with you that Harris Faulkner should be prominent on this page. She is a lovely lady and quite a professional broadcaster. I need to update this article. Thank you for visiting!
ThemeFam on January 22, 2020:
Harris Faulkner incredible television presenter https://themefam.com/harris-faulkner/ .
James A Watkins (author) from Chicago on March 11, 2019:
Kathleen Cochran ~ Thank you for taking the time to read my Hub and send me this message. Most of my articles are quite serious. I hoped in this one to show how smart and accomplished these women are, besides beauty and nice legs. Not that I am against those. This is one of my top ten Hubs for traffic. So I am thankful for that.
Kathleen Cochran from Atlanta, Georgia on March 10, 2019:
Only one shot of one of these girls' legs. FOX would take issue with this oversight. James, you used to write about substance.
James A Watkins (author) from Chicago on September 05, 2012:
Bob Bamberg— I know! Right!? It is hard to believe that Meghan Kelly is 42.
You are most welcome, Bob—if I may call you Bob. I think you are right about the whole Desert Storm theme song and all.
Thank you for reading both of my Hubs. I look forward to reading more of your work, which I will do ASAP. And I will update these articles to include the ladies you rightfully recommended.
James
Bob Bamberg on September 04, 2012:
I just checked it out, James, and you included some personalities I forgot about. Great hub...really interesting.
I got a kick out of the comment stream on Faulkner's cleavage. That doesn't bother me, but her chatty interpretation and inflection do...the same with Shep Smith.
I prefer to have the news reported to me as in Britt Hume, Bret Baeir, Chris Wallace, etc. I guess the hip, chatty style is to appeal to the younger viewer, but to me it compromises the integrity of the report. It's not news, it's show biz.
I think that started with Desert Storm, when all of a sudden a war had it's own theme song, logo and graphics.
I still watch Faulkner and Smith, and like them, I just don't like their style of reporting.
Thanks again for such interesting coverage. P.S. I can't believe Megyn Kelly is 42. She'll be carded til she's 80!
James A Watkins (author) from Chicago on September 04, 2012:
Bob Bamberg— Welcome to the HubPages Community!
Thank you for the compliment and the suggestions. I published another article that featured Meghan Kelly. Here is the link to it:
https://discover.hubpages.com/entertainment/Women-...
As for the others, I agree with you that I should update these two Hubs and add them. I love Dana Perino!
I appreciate the visit and your comments. And you are welcome.
Bob Bamberg on September 01, 2012:
Great hub, James. I'm a huge Fox News fan and have always wondered about the story behind the personalities. Thanks for putting it into a neat little package for us. Maybe you could add Meghan Kelly, Dana Perino, Andrea Tantaros, Jeanine Piro, and Patty Ann Brown.
James A Watkins (author) from Chicago on May 30, 2012:
Greg— You are quite welcome. I am glad to be of some service. Thank you for the kind words.
James A Watkins (author) from Chicago on May 30, 2012:
napetv— It is great to hear from you again. Thank you for coming by to visit and read my Hub. I appreciate your thoughtful and insightful comments.
I understand your disappointment about Greta's religious affiliation.
My Father is actually John Travlota's pilot and knows him and his family quite well. He says they are wonderful people. He has flown Mr Travolta to get "audited" in the middle of the night many times (to Clearwater Florida).
Greg on May 23, 2012:
James, Thank you for your comment. You see, I am not a native speaker of English and so writing is not easy. Thanks again.
james napier from Somewhere in Sarasota on May 23, 2012:
James,
I heard that Greta was a Scientology, so I re-read your excellent Hub to verify this rumor. And you confirmed it for me.
What a shame! I always had the utmost respect for her and her many talents. I know this may sound judgmental, but every-time I find out somebody is a follower of this bogus "religion," it dulls my perception of that person. How could an intelligent, educated woman like her fall for that scam?
Ask John Travolta and Kirstie Alley how things are going with the "church."
James A Watkins (author) from Chicago on May 23, 2012:
Greg— I think it can be written either way. Technically, it is not capitalized as it is not a proper name. However, I like to use caps for emphasis, which is allowed. Or should be. :)
Thank you for reading my work. I appreciate the visit and your comments.
Greg on May 21, 2012:
Today, I am doing a research whether or not we write "Bachelor's Degree" or "bachelor's degree". There are different answers on the web, and I am not sure which one is right. But when I came to this site 'Bachelor's Degree' are in caps. Since this post is about FOX Women and their degree, I assumed this is the right way to write what I was looking for.
James A Watkins (author) from Chicago on May 16, 2012:
napetv— I agree with your assessment. Thank you for your kind comments. I appreciate the visit. :)
james napier from Somewhere in Sarasota on May 13, 2012:
Jenna Lee is the cream of the crop. I'm glad she made the cut! Nice Hub.
James A Watkins (author) from Chicago on March 21, 2012:
Sara-- Thank you very much for taking the time to read my article. I appreciate your comments. I suppose show business types have been known to fudge on their ages.
Sara on March 20, 2012:
Love Fox. Ainsley is from my home town & I love her but I was born in 1980 & she was several years ahead of me in school so her birth year isn't accurate.
James A Watkins (author) from Chicago on November 28, 2011:
copywriter31— Megyn Kelly is surely a class act. I agree with you.
Thank you for visiting my Hub. I truly appreciate your insightful remarks.
James Ranka from Port Neches on November 19, 2011:
Fox News Channel hires women who show what they have on a daily basis... and I'm not talking about their reporting acumen. Some days, I think I'm viewing a cleavage contest - pathetic! Makes them all look cheap and throws a bad light on Fox news Channel. Megyn Kelly is the LONE exception - class and BRAINS all the way!
James A Watkins (author) from Chicago on October 04, 2011:
Storytellersrus— See! No wonder. Thank you for your kind comments. I appreciate you reading this little Hub of mine. And you are quite welcome, too. :)
Barbara from Stepping past clutter on October 03, 2011:
I had no idea there were so many beautiful young women working at Fox. No wonder it attracts so many viewers, lol. Interesting article. Thanks.
James A Watkins (author) from Chicago on September 23, 2011:
Nancy Moss— Thank you for saying so. Megyn Kelly and Shannon Bream were profiled in my earlier Hub:
https://discover.hubpages.com/entertainment/Women-...
"Bream the Dream," I call her. :D
All of these women are outstanding in every way. I am glad you enjoyed this article. I appreciate your comments.
Nancy Moss on September 21, 2011:
Loved your hub........enjoyed reading the comments. too. Must have missed Shannon Bream; a star who has risen. A favorite is Catherine Herridge along with Megyn Kelly and...oh my goodness, they're ALL outstanding. How can one pick a favorite?
James A Watkins (author) from Chicago on September 08, 2011:
Nancy Moss— Thank you for visiting my Hub. I have watched a whole lot of the Fox News Channel myself over the years. I find it so much more honest that the Communist News Network and as for MSNBC? Forgetaboutit! Propaganda!
These women are awesome ladies. They are all the things you said they are. I very much appreciate your excellent remarks.
Nancy Moss on September 07, 2011:
Have been a huge fan of ALL these women for years; articulate, intelligent, well educated, credible. When Harris Faulkner first appeared on FOX, she appeared to me to be a rising star...and she is. Catherine Herridge is a favorite; so professional. And they're all beautiful. My late husband and I have always watched only FOX.
James A Watkins (author) from Chicago on September 05, 2011:
Neal Septer— Thank you for taking the time to read my article. I appreciate your outstanding comments. You tell 'em! :D
Neal Septer on September 04, 2011:
To the woman who put down Bush. I would suggest that you check out history a bit more so you can make accurate comments. Hou are a Dumb Ass.
James A Watkins (author) from Chicago on August 15, 2011:
Warren Wilson— I don't blame you there, old codger. Almost 90!? My goodness—congratulations. I hope I live that long. Awesome! Thank you for reading my article. I appreciate your comments.
Warren Wilson on August 13, 2011:
If Martha MacCallum were single, and I were at least 40 years younger (than nearly 90!) I would beg for her hand in marriage.

ooooooooooooo i love fox news and the smart classy gorgeous women just rock it.
James A Watkins (author) from Chicago on March 29, 2011:
Locke Step-- You are surely right. Thank you for the correction. I had collected notes from many sources and I'm not sure where that came from but I will delete that part right now. Good eye! :D
I appreciate the visit and your comments.
Locke Step on March 28, 2011:
I think you have some errors regarding Jamie Colby. She geaduated with her BA in 1980 and JD in 1983. Which means a couple of things. 1)She was born in 1961, because she received her JD in '83 at age 22. 2)She could not have been called Doogie Howser because the show ran from '89-'93. I hope this helps. BTW nice page.
James A Watkins (author) from Chicago on October 17, 2010:
Jimmy Fuentes— My, how I appreciate your support and readership. I agree with you that the beauty and brains of the Fox News Women is without parallel.
Thank you very much for reading my Hubs.
Jimmy Fuentes from Rancho Cucamonga on October 16, 2010:
Hi James ! Nice to see all the backgrounds in one spot. All of the fox ladies are unbelievably intelligent and talented but is it me or is fox the only network where the looks and intellect are both beyond compare?
James A Watkins (author) from Chicago on October 12, 2010:
Amy Becherer— You are welcome. They haven't thanked me yet! But I'll thank you for visiting my Hub and for your kind compliments. Welcome to the Hub Pages Community.
Amy Becherer from St. Louis, MO on October 11, 2010:
You sure do your research. This read is a veritable cornucopia of fascinating material and photos. Fox News Women owe you a hearty thank you for your attention to detail and complimentary piece. Thank you for your superb writing.
James A Watkins (author) from Chicago on August 29, 2010:

Takako Komori from Yokohama, Japan on August 26, 2010:
Interesting, especially because some of these women are from my generation. They are all very beautiful and highly successful in their careers. I haven't watched Fox News yet, but now I'm interested!

Peggy W— I surely agree with you, my dear. These ladies have been successful at every turn. I appreciate this visit from you. It's always nice to hear from you.
Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on August 14, 2010:
What struck me most after reading these bios is that each and every one of them seemed to excel in whatever they did along life's path from their school days and what has since followed. FOX news is lucky to have them! Just some of the reasons for intelligent discourse on that channel...
