Famous Celebrities With Bald Heads

Anna is a writer who wears many other hats and has a wealth of experience that she draws from, sometimes funny, sometimes serious.

Yes, Bald Is Beautiful

And that appears to be true, even in Hollywood. The life of a celebrity is all about appearances. What you look like is obviously a key part of that. Your hair, or lack thereof, says a lot about you. Some men choose to grow old gracefully, while others prefer to cling to that last, little shred of youth, as if it were all that's important in life. Pay attention Mr. Trump, with your scary comb-over thing you got going on. I am talking to you! What is that thing, anyway? It looks like a small, dead animal.

Bald really is beautiful!! If you choose to go bald, or genetics have already made that choice for you, you are in great company. If you haven't committed to living a life without hair, or you know you are losing it, but haven't lost it all yet, remember, there are some great looking men out there that are follically-challenged. Let go of your hippie days, and your dreams of reclaiming that long, flowing mane you once had. Shave it off and join these famous men of little hair.

Bald is sexy!!! Just one look at Vin Diesel will tell you that much! Many men are opting for the shaved head, or letting nature take it's course. Don't fight it. Hair growth treatments are expensive. Spend your money on something more worthwhile, like a hat to keep your head warm in the winter or sunscreen to protect it from sunburn.

The suggestions keep pouring in for this one!! I love it! Keep them coming! I will add your suggestions in as I get them, when I have the time to, anyway. I have had a lot of fun with this Hub, and I love all the responses I have received. Thank you all for stopping by and commenting. The only question is, do you dare to go bald?

The Famous Bald Men

Where to start? The list is kind of long, and I guess it doesn't stop at Hollywood, so I had to do a little tweaking on this one. So many great men are bald, or have decided to go bald. Sometimes it's a choice, other times, not so much. If it were up to us, we would all look like models with perfect hair and everything else. Unfortunately, that isn't left up to us. We have to make do with what we have been given.

Anyway, let's get back to the task at hand...all those sexy bald men!! I guess I will start with Hollywood and work my way around. Some of these famous men are known for their chrome dome, while others went bald for a role. Others have lost their hair over the years, and now join the ranks of the follically-challenged.

Movies and television are full of bald men. Yul Brynner was striking in The King and I. Even without hair, he commanded such presence in that role. It's one of my favorite movies. Jerome "Curly" Howard is a classic example, as well. Everyone can recognize Curly from The Three Stooges. Sean Connery wasn't known for being bald, after all, he was Bond, James Bond. I wonder how well the movies would have done if he had been bald. Well, no matter, he is bald now, and still just as amazing as he ever was with hair. Jason Alexander is a wonderful actor, famous for his role of George Costanza on Seinfeld. I loved Seinfeld. In fact, I was just talking about the show the other day, and laughing over some of my favorite episodes. The list goes on and on. Telly Savalas was an iconic bald man in his role on Kojak, and as the supervillain, Ernst Stavro Blofeld, in the film, On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Billy Zane has made a small name for himself, mostly in low budget movies, and Joey Laurence, once adored for his great hair and great looks on Blossom, was spotted a few years ago sporting a shaved head. He has since grown some of that hair back, and can be seen on the show Melissa and Joey on ABC Family.

The sports and music industries are not without their wonderful crop of bald men. Sports figures sporting bald heads include Michael Jordan, George Foreman, Mike Tyson, and Andre Agassi. All of them have proved themselves as fantastic athletes. OK, so there was that ear biting issue with Mike Tyson, but Evander Holyfield (also bald!) seems to have forgiven him for that.

Now on to music. Yes, the music industry has it's own fantastic group of men of the bald persuasion. Michael Stype of REM has been bald as long as I can remember. So has Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins. I love The Smashing Pumpkins, and not just because they come from Chicago! Again, I could go on and on, and if you have any additions, please feel free to add yours in the comments. Popular musicians such as Moby and Chris Daughtry have become famous, and are easily recognized for their bald heads.

As For the Ladies

Don't think I have forgotten about us women!! How many of you have had one bad hair day after another, and just wished you could shave it all off and be done with it? I know I have! I even came close once. Yes, I am being serious!!! I never had the guts to do it, but I do keep my hair short. Sometimes, a bald woman did not choose to be bald. Nature can play the same evil tricks on women that it plays on men. Don't be ashamed to be bald! Look at how great these women look with no hair. Even Britney looked kinda cute, maybe not in that picture...oh, well, bad example.

Whether it was for a film role or a moment (or many, many moments all strung together) of insanity, female celebrities have been seen sporting a bare head on several occasions. Maybe one of these women will inspire you to end your hours of torment in front of the mirror; wielding hot rollers, curling irons, brushes, combs and a million different hair care and styling products. All in an attempt to walk out the door with something resembling a respectable head of hair. Go bald!! Be beautiful!! Who says you have to have hair to be beautiful? And whoever does say that, should be knocked unconscious and shaved completely bald! Yep, I said it!!!

Natalie Portman looks absolutely lovely with no hair, after she shaved her hair for her role in the movie V for Vendetta. Demi rocked in the movie GI Jane, and showed us that a determined woman is a force to be reckoned with, even one without hair.

Disclaimer: I assume no responsibility for any injuries related to my statements. I do not condone violence of any sort. I also will not provide wigs, or money for wigs, due to incidents resulting in loss of hair. I bear no responsibility if you wake up to find that someone has shaved your head.

Going Bald

If you do decide to go bald, and just shave off all of your hair, I have a suggestion for you. Look for a St. Baldrick's Day event in your area, and shave your head for a worthy cause!! The money raised goes to pediatric cancer research! I can't think of a more worthy cause. Also, if your hair is long enough, it can be donated to make wigs for kids with cancer. There are several worthy charities that do this, though I suggest against the most widely known, Locks of Love, as they charge the patients for these wigs. There are numerous other charities that will accept hair donations, such as Angel Hair for Kids or Pantene Beautiful Lengths. There are some restrictions on hair donation, such as length (varies by organization), if it has been colored or permed (some take treated hair, others do not), and if it is grey or not (some will accept grey hair, but will sell it to offset costs).

Another worthy option is to donate your hair to help clean up oil spills. Hair does not break down the way other living tissue does, so it can be stored until it is needed.

informationshelte-- I couldn't agree more!!! Some people/characters just wouldn't be the same if they had hair.

informationshelte on November 11, 2013:

Hi Anna Marie,

Going bald, whether intentional or not, has also helped some very successful actors, like Yul Brynner and Telly Savalas, land top roles in their acting careers.

Bald looks have actually been essential in the building and popularity of legendary characters, like Kojak. In fact, I couldn't imagine of Detective Lieutenant Theo Kojak with hair! It wouldn't be the same character, and having hair would definitely reduce his rough charm.

Anna Marie Bowman (author) from Florida on September 04, 2013:

shiny-- I have had some bad hair days, where I seriously considered shaving off all of my hair, but I don't have the guts to do it.

Bruce Willis and Patrick Stewart, lovely gorgeous men with no hair. I totally agree with you. As a woman, Sinead O'Connor is as beautiful without hair as anyone could be. Even Sean Connery is somewhat "follically challenged" thesedays, but everyone loves him including me.

Great Hub
