Donald Trump became the official Republican nominee for President on July 19, 2016, and defeated Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton on November 8, 2016, to become the 45th President of the United States.

Although Donald John Trump lost the popular vote, he defeated former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the general election, winning the Electoral College vote primarily.
