As I was watching this snooze fest, I realized that I had already watched it once before and I think I was having more of a hard time trying to remember if I had seen it earlier.
Once again Mother Nature is rebelling and this time, she's bringing a slow death to humanity as we know it.
Dr. Karen Cavanaugh (Leanne Khol Young) arrives at the Barnes farm where Farmer Barnes (Duff Zayonce) shows her the dead sheep scattered around the pen. His daughter Ashley (MJ Almasi) has been playing with some of Karen's instruments and falls over.
Since there's no time to take her to the hospital, Farmer Barnes tells her they're going to take her to Doc Rowe's (Greg Speilman) since its closer.
Doc Rowe is stunned when he diagnoses her with carbon dioxide poisoning. Especially since she was in an open field. While there, they see a breaking new report of San Francisco being hit by a huge tidal wave, caused by an undersea earthquake.
The shock waves made it to the top as they have their own little jerker as helicopter pilot Davis Mackie (Pat MacEachern) and reporter Erin (Anna Barker) crash to the ground. They inform those gathered around that most of the west coast is underwater.
There's another shaker and a huge crack stretches across the road. Karen suggests they evacuate the town, but first, Mayor Wally (Cameron Gordon) is told by science teacher Larry Vogel (Jay Morberg) that it seems like Yellowstone is about to blow and Karen gives it twenty-four hours.
Since there's no lifeline services available, they go to survivalist Amos Cade's (Michael Pare) house and ask to use his ham radio. He points his gun at them telling them to get off his property and Karen jumps in with why they need to use it. And as luck would have it, there's another little shaking going on.
According to Karen, the best place to go is north, into the mountains and they pack up the town just as a bigger earthquake hits and Pleasant Creek is no longer on the map.
With Farmer Barnes dead, Karen begins to care for Ashley (which surprisingly she shows no emotion over his death). After they stop to refuel, Davis leaves the caravan to go see his sister and nephew to make sure that they're safe. We're not really told how far away he has to drive, but he catches up with the others at their first campfire.
The next day they make it to an abandoned hotel, but as they explore it, they find Vince (Scott Roberts) a conspiracy theorist who's been broadcasting his word over the airwaves. He shows them video proof of what's been happening all over the world.
Following another quake, they quickly leave Cade and one of his men. Vince joins up with the two and they start to hike to where they think the good guys are going.
Cade waits until the morning and kidnaps Ashley, with the intention of killing her for food.
Yellowstone blows up and a new life awaits the survivors.
This really is a bad movie since the pace is very slow and I never really caught on as to what type of Doctor Karen is, since she's able to diagnose and treat everything thrown at her, plus she becomes the leader of the survivors.
If you're suffering from insomnia, this movie will definitely put you to sleep.
