Skai Jackson is the frontrunner after only one dance on Season 29 of Dancing With the Stars that premiered on Monday, September 14, 2020.
The 18-year-old Disney Channel alum is on ABC's popular dance competition show to win it. She exudes confidence and her first dance proved it when the reality show returned with a new host, new set, and a new judge.
About Skai Jackson
Skai Jackson was born in Staten Island, New York on April 8, 2002. She is not related to Janet Jackson or anyone in that family. Her parent, Jacob Jackson and Kiya Cole are divorced, and she stays with her mother. Skai has a sister and a brother.
At age 18, Skai has accomplished more than some people achieve in a lifetime. She began her career as a baby model when she was only nine months old appearing in commercials and photoshoots. She was a child model and appeared in some national commercials, including Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Old Navy, for Band-Aid bandages. Her real acting began when she appeared in her first film, Liberty King when she was five years old in 2007. Since then, she has starred in Disney Channel series and dozens of other works.
In 2016, she was included in Time’s list of Most Influential Teens. In addition to being a model, an actress, and a YouTuber, she is also an author. Last year, Skai released her first novel, Reach for the Skai: How to Inspire, Empower, and Clapback.
Her book details how she was bullied because she stands only 5 feet, 3 inches tall. She didn't let the bullies get her down when they teased her for being short or even when they made racist remarks about her on Twitter. She used herself as an example to inspire others to believe in themselves and never give up. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Skai's net worth is $500,000.
Skai Jackson on "Dancing With the Stars"
Skai is the youngest contestant on Dancing With the Stars this season. However, she is not the youngest dancer who has ever competed on the reality show.
Actress Willow Shields competed on Season 20 when she was only 14 years old. She and her partner Mark Ballas ended up in seventh place. Laurie Hernandez competed on Season 23 at age 16. She has been the youngest contestant to win the Mirror Ball Trophy. Her partner was Valentin Chmerkovskiy. That means if Skai wins this season, she will not be the youngest winner of all time.
About Skai Jackson's Performance
Skai showed what she could do on the dance floor with her partner Alan Bersten as they danced the tango to Nicki Minaj's Super Bass.
Skai brought a lot of energy and excitement to her first performance. She was so confident that she even did a split. The Disney Channel star and last season's winner tied with One Day at a Time star Justina Machado and pro dancer Sasha Farber with 21 out of 30, the highest score of the night. The lowest score was 11 out of 30. That was earned by the star of Tiger King Carole Baskin and her partner Pasha Pashkov.
About Skai's Dance Partner
Alan is a 26-year-old professional Latin and ballroom dancer. He is the pro dancer closer to Skai's age. Alan was the winner of Season 28 of Dancing With The Stars with his celebrity partner, The Bachelorette star Hannah Brown. Skai hopes Alan keeps his winning streak.
The two young dancers said in an interview how they are glad to be dancing together. Even though they met just two weeks ago, they have already bonded and are having fun together during rehearsals. It is evident that they get a lot done during those long hours. It is evident by what viewers see on the dance floor.
Watch Dancing With the Stars next week to see how well Skai does when she and Alan dance the samba.
Do You Think Skai Might Win This Season?
Even though Skai is tied with the highest score now, things might change as the season continues. Besides, a lot of contestants win based on how many voted they get from the American public.
Remember Bobby Bones shocked viewers when he won Season 27. The radio and television personality who hosts his own country radio show admitted he won "because of my people."

Cheryl, I had never heard of her before. However, I did research and found her to have had an interesting life even though she is only 18 years old.
