1. Song Joong Ki
Before he became the brave Captain Yoo Si Jin in the K-drama, Descendants of the Sun, Song Joong Ki was once a very cute and pretty boy. When he was small, he doesn't like it when he is called 'pretty'. But now, he likes the term because it is definitely a perfect word to describe him.
Song Joong Ki was born on September 19th, 1985 in Daejeon, South Korea. He is the second among the three siblings. He has an older brother who is very different from him (masculine and muscular) and a seven years younger sister named Song Seul Ki.
At a young age, he developed to be a very athletic boy. He competed at the higher level for short track speed skating. He represented his hometown, the city of Daejeon. He participated in the National Games three times and won awards at other large meets. However, he had to quit speed skating because of his injury during his first year of high school.
After quitting the sport, he focused his attention to his studies, which improved his grades dramatically. He even received the highest grades for all his subjects. Having scored 380 points out of 400 on his national college entrance, he entered the prestigious Sungkyunkwan University and graduated with a degree in Business Administration in 2012. It was reported that he took business economics major because it sounds cool and he would look smart if he told about the major to his girlfriend.
Being incredibly smart, he participated in KBS’s Quiz Korea, which was also his first appearance on TV, and he won 2nd place. He also garnered straight-As from all his classes in his high school days. He even won an award for perfect attendance, and was the student body president.
But he is not a perfect guy with perfect abilities. It was revealed that he has a weakness for singing and dancing and is having a hard time telling funny stories. It can also be concluded from the game-show Running Man that he has a weakness in drawing.
Funny excerpt: Seul Ki, his younger sister, was asked by his friend to get his brother's autograph. Confidently, she answered, “Hey, that’s no big deal. At home he just walks around in his underwear.”
It was revealed that his ideal woman is the one who both looks cute and sexy. He also likes women who have straight, long hair. His ideal women are like Hong Eun Hee and Miranda Kerr. He said he never dated a celebrity before, but he hope might get to date one.
Alcohol and cigarettes are things he doesn’t really do. He said that one of the secrets behind his flawless and beautiful skin is not smoking. When it comes to drinking, he can’t handle up to a bottle of soju. He couldn’t find his way home and cries a lot when he is drunk.
2. Kim Soo Hyun
Kim Soo Hyun is a popular Korean actor known for his incredible talent in acting, singing, and modelling. He is also known to have a brilliant skill in crying, which is reflected in many of his drama roles. He is notable for playing Song Sam Dong in Dream High and Do Min Joon in My Love from the Star.
Born on February 16, 1988, he was a shy, timid, and introverted boy during his middle school days, and no one expected him to enter the entertainment industry.
However, his mother encouraged him to take acting classes before high school to change his introverted personality, and this is where he grew the aspiration to pursue an acting career.
He later admit that acting made him really happy, especially when he first heard the audience applaud, he was so happy he did not want it to end.
Before he became an icon in the entertainment world, he also became a normal high school boy. He then majored in Theater and Film Studies at Chung-Ang University and partook in musicals such as A Midsummer Night's Dream and Grease.
There are some funny excerpt about his school days. His handsome face will definitely melt your heart, but we're not so sure if he writes a love letter. It was revealed that his handwriting, unfortunately, is not comprehensible to everyone. "When I took my midterm, I had to write a report," he said. "I did my best and turned it in, but the next day my professor called me and asked me what I wrote."
Another story was when he was second year high school student. During an interview, he was asked,"If you could go back to your past, when would it be?" In one of his stories, he folded up a paper airplane and then set fire to the front of it. He said that it was so great to see the paper airplane flying and smoldering so he flew over 60 paper airplanes. The fire ignited a high school flower bed. His classroom was located on the fifth floor and he had to go down stairs to the teacher's room, which was located on the first floor, while being hit 300 times by the teacher. He knelt and begged for forgiveness in the classroom.
It was also revealed that his ideal type of woman is a British actress named Kaya Scodelario. Kaya is famous in Korea among viewers of the UK drama SKINS, which she starred in as Effy. Some Korean male celebrities say that Kaya is their ideal type. But only our Kim Soo Hyun is the only one who got the chance to met her in person and worked with her. They were brand models of Jestina. Kaya said that Kim Soo Hyun was kind and gentle.
3. Lee Min Ho
Lee Min Ho was born on June 22, 1987 in Heukseok-dong, Dongjak-gu, Seoul. He is a lovely boy adored by his parents. His mom said that he is especially beautiful. She said that his eyes were bigger than his elder sister and his nose was high as well.
According to his mom, the earliest signs showing his talent of being an actor was during young, due of his eloquence. Although his sister is fluent in her speech, Min Ho had learned to talk much earlier. When he was still in his infancy stage, he could quickly detect moving objects. The very first time he called “mom” was also about 3 to 4 months faster than an average child.
When he was young, he was called by his family as “sudden blink”. His mom said that the main reason was because due to his large eyes, it was very cute when his eyes blink continuously. He also had a very good relationship with his sister. The number of arguments they had were really countable.
During his elementary education, Min Ho developed his athletic skills by learning soccer and started to like mountain climbing and playing around in the fields.
He had hoped to become a professional football player. He was selected for the youth football class of South Korean manager and former player Cha Bum-Kun, but an injury in the 5th grade of elementary school put an end to this aspiration. After this incident, he turned to modelling and acting.
He started becoming popular to girls during his middle school years. Even his sister’s friends called him “Yun Kyung’s ‘pretty boy’ brother”. He began his acting career when he was in his second year in high school. He then started auditioning and landed minor roles in several television dramas. Although his looks is roughly the same as now, but he had pimples popping out as and when during that period.
However, in 2006, his acting career was put on hold for a year following a serious car accident, while riding with Jung Il-woo. He was severely injured and spent several months bedridden.
Upon recovery, he returned to acting and had his breakthrough when he landed the role in Boys Over Flowers. Since then, he is recognized worldwide as a popular Korean actor.
In March 2015, Min Ho and South Korean singer and actress Suzy were confirmed to be in a relationship.
4. Jang Geun Suk
Another pretty boy with a pretty face, Jang Geun Suk was born in Danyang County, Chungcheongbuk Province, South Korea. He is an only child. It was when his parents were selling their home when one of the agents advised his parents that he should work as a model. He started his modelling career when he was six.
In middle school, he heard the work of some Japanese bands (L'Arc-en-Ciel) and was inspired to learn the Japanese language by himself. Then in junior high school, he went to school in New Zealand to learn English. Because of his studies in New Zealand, he can carry out casual conversation in both Japanese and English.
In 2005, his portrayal of the president's son in Korean drama "Lovers In Prague" became a hit. A year after, he debuted in the big screen in the Japanese horror film "One Missed Call Final." His fluency in Japanese helped him communicate well with the staff.
In 2009, he played played the role of Hwang Tae-Kyung in You're Beautiful. He is the leader of rock band A.N.Jell, who falls in love with a fellow band member who is a female pretending to be a guy on behalf of her brother, played by Park Shin Hye. The show, which also starred Lee Hong Ki and Jung Yong Hwa, became really popular. His prickly character became the object of millions of fans fantasy.
Today, he remained good friends with former co-stars Jung Yong-Hwa, Lee Hong-Ki and Park Shin Hye.
5. Kim Bum
Kim Sang-bum was born in Seoul, South Korea on July 7, 1989. His immediate family consists of his mother, father, and a younger sister. Since young, he has been addicted to watching TVs. His mom said that when his eyes would suddenly sparkle especially when singers appeared inside the show, and he would be extremely excited. He would try to imitate, like someone humming along with the song.
It is also revealed that he became popular among girls around his age when young. His mom said that one reason could be attributed to his handsome look, the other was maybe because of his maturity, that didn’t really fit his age. He often played the leadership role among the kids.
At a young age, he is already a movie fanatic. He even mentioned about his future dream, which was to film in a movie. He loved movies so much so that whatever he spoke were lines adapted from the movies he watched. Beginning around 3 to 4 years old, whenever he watched a movie, he could see it for the entire day, with no concept of the time passed. During his kindergarten stage, he could already make comprehensive critiques on the movies he had seen, which is incredibly amazing.
If he hadn't become an actor, his mother revealed that he's probably going to become a soccer player. He is gifted in sports and he especially loved to play soccer. Since his elementary school, he often played the pillar role in his school’s soccer team in several inter-school soccer competitions.
But Kim Bum's road to stardom is not a fairy tale. He participated in several auditions and also attended acting classes. However, after a year of hard work but yielded no results, he began to fret. He then joined the “Survival Star Audition” organized by KBS. He was 17 then,but he was pushed to the top ten. However, he did not proceed further due to his young age, but still retained the 8th position.
He had an emotional moment with his mom when he started his contract with the agency. His mom admitted she was crying uncontrollably then as she was worried for her son, and she felt like her son had been taken away from her. But Kim Bum held his mom's hands and said, “Mom, please believe in me.” From that time on, his mom believed that her son will able to become one of the greatest actor in Korea.
