PanamaTrickster Reviews: Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers (2022)

Being the newest edition to Disney+'s direct-to-stream movies, Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers feels like it had a much higher budget than it may have deserved. While a super fun callback to multiple IPs that’s are not strictly from Disney’s arsenal, this film tries it’s best to make fun of the overdone nature of its own production without exactly being successful.

Plenty of elements feel simply like they will be dated by the end of the year, as trope after trope, and trend after trend are unforgivingly littered throughout the newest film to throw as many IPs as it can at the audience since Ralph Breaks the Internet, Ready Player One and Space Jam: A New Legacy.

However, the voice talents of Andy Samberg and John Mulaney keep this light-hearted flick fun and continue to remind you that it isn’t trying to take itself too seriously. However well done the mix of traditional animation, CGI animation and live action is, the live action counterparts to the Rescue Rangers have made it all too obvious to the audience that they are delivering their lines with nobody to interact with. They feel forced, over the top, and not in tune with the CGI and Traditionally animated elements.

The soundtrack and score are nothing memorable, however you might be treated to a nostalgic musical callback from a very recognizable artist during the credits that is more than worth sticking around for.
