Round 2 Music & Entertainment’s New Look
Behind every great artist, stands a great label. And if not a label, then certainly, a great team!
When you hear the phrase, "It takes a village" you come to see how true a statement it is when you have decided to launch a singing sensation to go from being a local artist to a nationally, or internationally, known artist. An artist whose music is heard in homes on the radio or stereo system, or on a car radio, and played on a i-Phone or on a laptop, or whose concerts are sold out, you realize it takes a good number of people to coordinate such accomplishments.
This is something Charlie Perez, of Round 2 Music, understood early on when he decided to get into the music industry game and find such an artist who could achieve that level of success. He knew that it would take a village and so he, along with his partners and family, created a record label for their first artist they believe will be very successful in the music industry, Brittany Nicole.
Perez, a business man who comes from the construction industry, and his partner, Monibee Henley, also a successful business woman and a singer herself, came together to form Round 2 Entertainment in 2014, a promotions company initially promoted concerts, and then evolving to include various entertainment events for families in the communities they serve, such as car shows.
Round 2 Entertainment also allowed for local singing talent and musicians the opportunity to showcase their artistry with live performances and let people know about their current and upcoming music or touring projects.
These concert and show events are supported by local media and businesses with the help of their other partner in Round 2 Entertainment, media personality - Angel Rodriguez, known to many as "Angel Baby". Angel came on board with Charlie and Monibee in 2015 and is the VP in charge of events.
Rodriguez, who is widely known throughout Southern California and San Bernadino county, as an on-air personality for “Round 2 Radio” and the “Angel Baby’s Crusin Oldies Show “.
He works tirelessly in the community for various causes and because of his on-air presence, he is able to bring to these events local and national celebrities who have made (or are making) their mark in the music and entertainment industry.
These events that Round 2 Entertainment promote and produce now include family outings, fairs, car shows, block parties, and many times are connected to a neighborhood charity that raises awareness and creates community empowerment over the social ills that effects our neighborhoods.
I caught up with Charlie Perez recently to discuss Round 2 Entertainment and Round 2 Music, and his goals for their break-out artist, Brittany Nicole.

Q&A with Charlie Perez
Charlie, Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to tell our readers more about yourself and Round 2 Music.
RW) When did you start Round 2 Music, and where are you located?
CP) February 20th 2019 the day I signed Brittany is also when we launched Round 2 Music as a label.
RW) What was your vision for starting Round 2 Music? Are you a musician yourself?
CP) I love music and I have been putting on concerts and shows since November 2014. Listen, I can’t sing, play instruments or dance and I want to go to the Grammys and sit in the front so this is the only way I figure I could get there.
RW) What's been some of your biggest challenges since starting Round 2 Records, and why Round 2? How did you come up with that name?
CP) The biggest challenge I’m not sure I have a good team behind me they have all the challenges I just pay the bills.
In 2014 Monibee and I started round 2 entertainment her idea for the name she said it represented a second go at the entertainment business for her and another venture for me so I went with it.
RW) I understand you have a very special artist signed to Round 2 Records, singer and songwriter, Brittany Nicole. Tell us how you came to meet Brittany and is she the only artist right now on your record label? If not, who are some of your other artists?
CP) Now that’s a long and crazy story LOL!
I’ll give you the short version we can talk about the long version at your convenience. I actually saw her on singing on face book after listening for 3 or 4 minutes I said she has something I want to sign her. She is the first and only one for now my Strategy is to make her career first once that happens everyone will want to come and join us. Actually that’s happening now getting so many calls and Texts every day
RW) I know that you have some pretty special ladies involved with the management of your label including Monibee Henley, who is Brittany's manager; I understand your daughter works with you in the business?
CP) Yes my daughter you could say is my left since I’m left handed she handles my construction business and round 2 entertainment business including organizing and coordinating all of our events. Monibee and I met in 2013 working on a surprise concert for my wife’s birthday and we have been working together ever since. I also added Angel Rodriguez AKA Angel Baby radio personality a couple of years ago he is also part of my master plan
RW) Where do you see your label in 5 years? What's your 5 and 10 year out plan for the growth of the label?
CP) I hope to be on tour with Brittany some time next year and hopefully added more artist as we go along but in 5 years near the top in 10 years at the top. I know were nobody right now but I believe dreams do come true I make mine come true !
RW) If I am a independent artist out there and wanted to approach Round 2 Records for consideration to be on the label, are you open to that? Are you looking for other talent?
CP) Yes I will be looking for more talent

CEO, Charlie Perez, and V.P.’s, Monibee Henley and Angel Baby Rodriguez partnered with their new V.P. in charge of music production and artist development, Melanie Andrews.
An award winning multi-platinum songwriter and producer, Melanie is perhaps best known for work on her best friend’s album, Janet Jackson’s ‘Control’ LP, the landmark album for which Melanie sang back-up vocals, and worked on several of the tracks, but also penned one of Janet’s big hits from the LP, “Let’s Wait Awhile”. Not only did the “Control” LP turn Janet Jackson into a super star music artist, it also made Melanie a “go to” songwriter in the business where she would work with artists like Vanessa Williams, Jasmine Guy, and Earth Wind & Fire, to name a few.

Melanie Andrews is the multi-platinum award winning songwriter who first came to fame after penning Janet Jackson’s “Let’s Wait Awhile” and working on the ‘Control’ LP.

Monibee Henley is the Vice President of Round 2 Entertainment which she co-founded in 2014 with Charlie Perez, and is the manager for all of the artists signed to the music label.
A professional recording artist in her own right, Monibee recorded a single in 1982 - a Mariachi song entitled, Prieto Chaparro y Feo. The song did well enough to reach the charts, and that opened doors for her to perform on tour in shows and concerts on the big stages of Mexico and across the United States for many years.
Monibee has opened for such artists as, Vicente Fernandez, Ramon Ayala, Yolanda Del Río, Beatriz Adriana, and Los Tigres Del Norte, to name a few.
Although she still sings at various events and books shows, Monibee's focus right now is on the success of Round 2 Entertainment and Music, and launching the artists onto the professional music scene.
Angel Rodriguez, a.k.a. Angel Baby, is the V.P. for Round 2 Entertainment & Partner in charge of R2 Entertainment events.

His role as VP in Round 2 Entertainment includes overseeing and coordinating the company's various events that now include car shows, and continued concert events.
Priscilla Luna is Charlie Perez’s daughter and the C.O.O. of Round 2 Music and Entertainment.

Priscilla Luna is one of Charlie Perez' daughters who is the Round 2 Office Manager and handles the business affairs of Round 2's accounting, billing and payments, and manages the set up and preparations at Round 2 Music & Entertainment events along with her sister and Charlie’s son-in-laws.

Cynthia handles all of the travel and accommodation schedules and bookings for Round 2 Entertainment and Music. An integral part of the team as the company grows, and Brittany Nicole's demand for show appearances have been increasing since they started in February of 2019.
