Being pregnant at an early age or over the age of 40 is risky. Consequences include miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, baby being born hydrocephalic, or has Down Syndrome, caesarian and danger on the health of the mother as well as the fetus.
I'm perusing over the internet articles on how celebrities fare in their late pregnancies because I plan to add another member in the family at this age of mine now (probably around 40-45 age). That is if menopause won't come during these years.
In this hub, I list a few number of famous celebrities who gave birth over the age of 40. Most of these celebrities had opted in-vitro fertilization, which I can't afford to fork out money for that costly process. Some pregnancies of these celebrities were successful at first, or in the end; others are not, which is obvious-- there's the big risk in late pregnancies.
Celine Dion, a five-time Grammy Award winner, gave birth to healthy twin boys via C-section at the age of 42 at St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida, Oct. 24, 2010. Less than a year before this pregnancy, she had a tragic miscarriage. Her twin boys' are named Eddy & Nelson.

She gave birth to her first child, Sunday Rose, at the age of 40 with her husband, Keith Urban. She has adopted children with former husband, Tom Cruise. She had a miscarriage while she was married to Cruise.
She gave birth to her son, Jack at age 42. Three years later, she welcomed another son, Miles, at age 45.
She had undergone seven rounds of in vitro fertilization treatments. After these treatments, she gave birth to her first child, Rowan, at age 37. At the age of 40, she naturally conceived her daughter, Grier, with husband Chris Henchy.
She spent several years trying to have a baby. She opted for in vitro fertilization treatments. Her long-time wish finally came true in 1999 – she and her partner Greg Wise became proud parents of daughter, Gaia.

A star in Desperate Wives, gave birth to fraternal twins, Eden and Savannah, at age 44, with husband, Tom Mahoney, in February 2007
She is already a mother of four at the age of 45. She underwent fertility treatments in her mid-40s after her divorce with former husband. She and her current husband, director James Keach, welcomed twins, Johnny and Kristopher in 1995.
She suffered through nearly three dozen negative pregnancy tests before giving birth to her first child, Nahla, when she was 41 years old then. . She hoped to have another child with her French-Canadian model, boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry
She gave birth to her first child, Valentina Paloma, at age 41, in September 2007 with her then-fiance, French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault. They later married in April 2009.

I am expecting my first child at 48. She (He) will be perfect. My mother always said don't tell God you want to be a Mother; Tell God you want a Perfect Child. She should know right? I had to write this so that others feel that it's part of God's plan for this to be a reality for you at this "Time" of your life then that's the "BEST TIME". TRUST AND RELEASE ALL FEAR and "Do it" already! I love you

I am expecting my second baby and I am 40 (will be almost 41 by due date). It took nine months which was longer than my first pregnancy (conceived first try at age 37). I just think your fertility is down to three factors; lifestyle, luck and genes. My mother had a baby at 43.

Happy - As your username "Happy" suggests, I can sense that you are indeed happy having a successful third pregnancy. I hope all is well until you finally give birth.

I have just found out I am 6 weeks pregnant and I'm 41, will be 42 when I give birth. This is my third child and it took me eight months to conceive which is slightly longer than it took with my first two who I had when I was 35 and 37, and they took two months to conceive. Eight months wasn't such a long time when I didn't think it would even happen at all :-)

bladesofgrass - Thanks for your comment.
My 3rd child was born when I was 37 and my husband and I planned to have one more when my child turns 5 and my age by that time would be 42. So, I researched about getting preggy at age 40+ and posted this hub.

Thank you for this hub...very inspirational for those of us who are still entertaining the idea of conceiving after 40. I constantly get, "OMG! You can't be serious?" "Why would you do that? That's just crazy! You should be traveling and enjoying life?" A lot of critics..but I guess to each their own, right? Yup, my friends think I'm crazy. :)
