Burning Pictures onto a DVD
A DVD Holds a Lot
I started with a CD-R, which my computer complained wasn't big enough to contain my photos.
Is complain the right word? Maybe whine is a better word. At any rate, the computer wasn't having any part of it.
Of course, once I put a DVD in the drive, it started asking me questions. Almost like a new puppy... What do you call it? So, I named it "photos" which I thought was quite clever, all in itself.
It wasn't formatted to its liking, so I waited while it rearranged its data.
Load Windows Vista Premium

The old hp advisor isn't functional. So, I will let it swim for a minute. If it doesn't clear, I will red x the notification.

Since I don't have a ready backup disk I will insert a new DVDR disk that isn't formatted. Of course, I get a new prompt.

Click ok to start backup. The message behind the prompt shows a bar of progress. Preparing to backup, with a stop backup button No. I have nothing better to do.

Ok. It's formatting this disk. The computer fan is going. There's a lot of noises. Clicking and a stronger chunking noise. Then, all is quiet. It is backing up.

Backing up files to E:. E is the name of my disk drive. Copying files to E:/ it's a slow process. Fan is bowing. There are clicking sounds the light on the CD drawer is blinking. Sounds like a car in traffic. Speed up. Hit the brakes. Light flashing
Backing up Files
This backing up of the computer is taking a long time. I started this at about 4:30 am, and it's still working on it and the time is currently 5:52 am
It's about a third of the way done. It seems to buffer. It's my own fault it takes so long. There are thousands of files. The photo file alone is almost 2,000 images.
This compares to eating a slice of pizza. Take a bite. Chew.
Which reminds me of a computer saying. It's sort of a right tightly lefty loosely type quote.
Here it is:
Eight bits, equals 1 byte. Half of a bite is a nibble.
Well. It was important back in the day when you only had so much space to work with. The computer I'm using to do this page fits in my hand. The computer we worked on in that time, filled a room. An operator sat by the computer monitor, and watched for issues.
I could interrupt the backup and get my burning photos show on the road, but, I don't think it is a good idea.
Computers don't get mad, but I'm sure it would protest.
Ugh. 6:08 am and it's still backing up files.
Did I have coffee, or not? Egads, I have been doing this without coffee. My cup would have a bit left in it pooling at the bottom of the cup, but it's dry.
Perhaps I should procure a cup. Yes. Instant. No sugar. Just creamer. I do consume a spoonful of honey before I stir it. Raw, chunky honey. Mmmm.
Back up Failed
All this time, and it failed.
Well, fine. Back to my original putting photos on the disk. It may ask me if I want the pictures on this disk. Probably a good idea to erase this one, but, we will see what computer wants to do.
Select photo files using copy mode. Drag to highlight files. Then, click burn
View on Laptop
That's the beauty of this. I can take the burned DVD and put it in my laptop and view the files, or pictures.
