Booktube Tags: Part One (Tags for Newbies)

Kara Skinner believes in changing the world through the power of books.

If you're a BookTuber, then you probably need ideas now and then for videos. Tags are awesome videos to make because not only are they fun and easy to do, but they also can connect you to other BookTubers who have done the same tags.

There's just one problem: there are so many!

Not only are there so many excellent tags that you probably don't know about, but there doesn't seem to be any place where they are all documented with their questions. Here's the first in a series of articles where I try to document all the tags existing in the book world.

Brenda C.'s BookTube Newbie Tag

BookTube Newbie Tag

This tag was created by Brenda C. It's for people who are new to the BookTube world and is often the first video BookTubers post on their channel. Here are the questions:

  1. Why did you start this channel??
  2. What are some fun and unique things you can bring to BookTube?
  3. What are you most excited for about this new channel?
  4. Why do you love reading?
  5. What book or book series got you into reading?
  6. What questions would you ask your favorite BookTuber?
  7. What challenges do you think starting a BookTube channel will be the hardest to overcome?

Super Pao's BookTube Newbie 2.0 Tag

Booktube Newbie Tag 2.0

This is a tag for BookTubers who are still new to the book world, but usually after the BookTuber has a few videos already under his or her belt. I've seen a few BookTubers save Newbie 2.0 for their one year anniversary as well, which is when you officially stop being a newbie. (I just made that up, but it sounds about right.)

It was originally created by Catalyst Reads, who unfortunately is no longer part of BookTube. However, the tag lives on and is still quite popular.

Here are the questions:

  1. What genres would you like to see talked about more on BookTube?
  2. What do you feel is the best way to make friends on BookTube?
  3. What do you enjoy most about making BookTube videos?
  4. What do you least look forward to when making BookTube videos?
  5. What videos other than tags, reviews, wrap-up, recommendations would you want to see more of?
  6. What are some themes you want to see more of or less of in books?
  7. What are some of your BookTube goals?
  8. What advice would you give to a BookTuber who has just created their channel?
  9. What are some qualities or traits that you look for when watching other BookTubers?
  10. What is a fun fact about you or a hobby besides reading and writing that people on BookTube might now know that you have?

New to Booktube Tag

This is another newbie tag that isn't as popular as the BookTube Newbie tag, but it's still quite popular and fun. This tag is usually done in the first few videos a BookTuber makes. I've also seen BookTubers combine this tag and the BookTube Newbie tag together for their first video.
