Lindsey Stirling - "Beyond the Veil"

There are special people in this world we are so lucky to get to know. Jackie finds them to share and enjoy with you.

A Truly Gifted DIY Artist - She Does it Her Way!

The video has gone viral with over a million views and by the time you are reading this, who knows! What a fantastic find I want to share with you. Lindsey Stirling. Such a talent! She really has invented and reinvented herself if you ask me and proves you can be anything you want to be! Especially today with all the venues we have, such as YouTube for one thing! I will share the video now going viral so you will not be the one left out. Come take a look at this 28-year-old "star" and see how a dream can come true.

She says that after “praying, trying and praying again” she met filmmaker and YouTube director Devin Graham, manager Ryan Wyler, and producer Marco G, who helped her get going through YouTube! She says looking back it is very humbling at the sacrifices and chances these people took on her. Personally, just one look at her performance shows me a talent just a bit different than we are used to seeing and isn’t that great?

She is a twenty-eight-year-old real go-getting talent! She has her own YouTube channel, Lindseystomp and this video seems to be getting some real stand up and notice so I present her to you today! The song is one of 12 on her newest album, Shatter Me. Here it is to hear for free!

Lindsey Stirling

"You know, if you really want to fiddle the old-time way, you've got to learn the dance. The contra-dances, hoedowns. It's all in the rhythm of the bow. The great North Carolina fiddle player Tommy Jarrell said, 'If a feller can't bow, he'll never make a fiddler. He might make a violin player, but he'll never make no fiddler."

— Alison Krauss

Original Song - Went Viral

"Music is a great gift, one of the greatest anybody can have, because it's something nobody can take away from you. Money can't buy it. It's a very precious thing, I think, very precious."

— Ernie Carpenter (1909 - 1997)

Who is Lindsey Stirling?

Lindsey Stirling (born September 1986 in Orange County, California) is a violinist, dancer, and composer based in Utah. A former member of the rock band Stomp on Melvin, Stirling began releasing videos on Youtube in 2007 and in 2010 competed on “America’s Got Talent”. Her appearance on “America’s Got Talent” gained the attention of cinematographer Devin Graham, with whom she has collaborated on several videos since 2010. Her YouTube channel has become extremely popular and has received upwards of 100 million views.

What Child is This - So Beautiful!

Never Too Soon

At five, being influenced by her father’s classical music records, Lindsey took on the violin. After taking lessons up to the age sixteen she joined a rock band in her high school with four friends called "Stomp on Melvin". (I'd like to hear that story! Even her new name is a cut of this one.)

Writing music and playing her violin led to winning the state title of Junior Miss in Arizona and to receive the Spirit Award in America’s Junior Miss Finals. She was also a member of another band for about a year. Life goes on and we can all imagine the excitement and downfalls trying to get started especially with something so different! How many obstacles this girl must have overcome!

She says she likes to create music that’s really energetic and uplifting and wants people to feel empowered by it and feel magical! Well, I think her music indeed does that. I love it and if anyone had ever told me I would get so much from the music of a violin. Well, I just would not have believed it! I have been watching her videos off and on for a while now and they are so great! It is not just the song or talent in music but it is acting; drawing you in with the sound while entertaining you with the action videos! Some I have watched many times they were so much fun and that never happens to me with just a music video! She entertains in so many ways and you can see her talent all through her work. It is just amazing the talent and energy this woman has! Please find out for yourself.

As another part of a dream, Lindsey learned to dance and was in the final three of the big contest she entered with a $50,000 prize and one of the judges vowing she was the best! Dance is a part of her entertainment that you will love and I just cannot say enough good things about her but since I know the web is engulfed with her talent and all about her right now I cannot give you everything about her but it is out there to find!

She is so sweet too, I have to say, making cute and ugly faces that you will just fall in love with, all through her videos. I think every age loves Lindsey or will as they get to know her and she is such an inspiration to young people! Her talent is limitless and she has just kept on going when people told her she couldn't. She has made a career for herself and sold herself to the public, who love her. Any young person could use her determination as a guide if they have a talent, as she has turned one talent now that she started with into so many. As she says, “The same reasons I was told I wouldn’t succeed are the reasons people travel hundreds of miles to see me now, because it’s different, because it’s something you haven’t seen before…”

Lindsey is also a Christian girl into a few good works such as helping children appreciate music and water conservation to name a couple. Where does she find the time? Ah, to be twenty-eight again...it has been a couple of years.

What Lindsey Has Been Up To

Born in Santa Ana, California, Lindsey grew up in Arizona and began studying classical violin at the age of five. In her teens, she played in a rock band called Stomp on Melvin and competed in the Junior Miss competition, winning the Arizona Junior Miss title. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she studied therapeutic recreation at Brigham Young University.

Along with taking part in several new collaborations (Jesse J, Pentatonix, Joy Enriquez), Stirling devoted much of 2014 and early 2015 to a massive world tour that took her across North America, through Europe, and into Oceania. In June of 2015, she announced the completion of an autobiography as well as her intention to begin recording her third LP at the end of the summer.

That's one of my favorites as well. The George Harrison cover is good too. I really like the effects in the video that I tried to send the link to. It's good to see young people interested in performing good music.

Randall Guinn from Pinellas Park, Florida on October 20, 2014:

Hi Jackie,

I have subscribed to Lindsey's channel since her debut on AGT. I think that Simon unfairly criticized her, but that's Simon. Beautiful poem and pics as well. I really like the pic with the mermaid. I think that you have to be a poet to appreciate poetry. Have you ever heard of the MonaLisa Twins? They have a beautiful video out now called Nothing is in Vain. You should watch it. I think that you will like it.

Jason R. Manning from Sacramento, California on May 18, 2014:

Hello Jackie, I am a fan of Lindsey and learned of her through Pandora. The first time I heard Crystalize I was shocked at her technical ability to blend with electronica. I am a stereo nerd, so getting her album to listen to was a no brainer. How much more interesting is I did not know her humble beginnings which makes me more proud to be a fan of hers. She did a rendition of Phantom of the Opera which I wish I could get on a HD disk. Great hub, and great person to write about. Cheers.

Jackie Lynnley (author) from the beautiful south on May 06, 2014:

Thanks Deb it really is; I d no idea I would like her type entertainment but I certainly do.

Faith Reaper from southern USA on April 05, 2014:

Hi Jackie, so glad you are enjoying your weekend with your babies! Aw, I bet that was so cute! I will have to send you some pictures of my grands this weekend as they are growing so fast. I am so tired right now, as they have worn "Nanny" out to tell of all we have been doing!

I will send you an email, probably after they return home : )

Hugs

Jackie Lynnley (author) from the beautiful south on April 05, 2014:

Hi Faith. Been playing with my babies off and on all day, as I can; they are so cute. They are not timid like the others were; I can pop in on them any time and they just like say, "Hi! Did you bring anything to eat?" They were roosting today, too, first time I say that, soooo cute. Now tell me about yours...lol

Faith Reaper from southern USA on April 04, 2014:

Hi Jackie,

Trying to catch up here after finally getting the children settled down to sleep. Yes, you do have your babies ...chicks! Well, I do hope you stay for you are an amazing poet and writer and HP just would not be the same without you. I understand how you feel though, but I did see a forum just yesterday where someone was asking whether anyone else had seen a drastic drop in traffic to their hubs and many stated they did. Hopefully, whatever is going on, whether Internet related or what, things will improve. Yes, God will reveal to you where it is best to share your gift of writing.

Hugs and enjoy your girls too and have a lovely weekend,

Faith Reaper

Jackie Lynnley (author) from the beautiful south on April 04, 2014:

Yes I envy you this weekend Faith; but well I have my girls...lol. I don't know what to think anymore about HP. I am sure I am not the first it has happened to and apparently they don't care. Probably the best thing I can do is put it in God's hand and ask Him to deal with it for me. It distresses me occasionally as it would anyone but I know I compare to the 100 scores and deserve it as much as anyone so let justice find its place. After my 100 hubs I plan to not spend my days trying to please HP to no avail. I have wasted too much time here already. Another week should do it.

Have you some great fun this weekend. Hope the weather is nice for you too! Hugs!

Faith Reaper from southern USA on April 04, 2014:

Enjoying my lunch listening and watching these excellent videos here. I love all of your hubs and these last four you have published are exceptionally awesome, but I am bewildered that you have not gone up one point for all of this great work here you have been putting out? I am truly stumped about such. I wonder if your moderator is on Spring break and not able to put a stop to those who may be on here to just vote down for no good reason? After I get home, I will be sure to share your hubs. Enjoy your weekend. I will be busy with the grands up ...a joyful busy : ) Hugs

Jackie Lynnley (author) from the beautiful south on April 04, 2014:

I had seen her before Frank, even used one of her pictures in a hub but I had no idea of her or her talent either. We just need to look around now and then, don't we? Thanks for stopping by!

Frank Atanacio from Shelton on April 03, 2014:

what talent.. and to think Ive never heard of her prior to your hub and visuals :)

Jackie Lynnley (author) from the beautiful south on April 01, 2014:

Thanks you Imoyer92 I had only caught the beginning of that checking out so much of her stuff so I went back as you suggested and yeah, that was great! She really is amazing, just can't stop saying it! lol

What can I say but “wow” what a wonderful talent! I love the videos and the fantasy photos. It is obvious that you have fallen in love with her, and for good reasons. I doubt if she can write poetry like yours while she is playing the violin. Great stuff about Atlantis, and the song by Donovan brought back memories.

I've never heard of her. She's excellent. Thanks for introducing her here, Jackie!

Hummingbird5356 on March 31, 2014:

Beautiful! The tune you call What Child is This, sounds like Greensleeves, a traditional English ballad. I haven't heard this version.

Nevertheless, she is an expert violinist.

Thanks Billy; I am glad I could since you did not already know about her. She just keeps getting bigger and bigger.
