Top 10 Best Reality Shows of India
What are the best reality TV shows in India?
One day a person wanted to be a star. He didn't had any talent to show and get recognized. Then he thought how about participating in a reality show. There is a show name Roadies which didn't wanted any such talent but the desire to do difficult task the most smarter way. He thought why not give it a shot.
But the biggest question remained how to get pass the audition. He decided to fake his identity, said that his mother is dead, and he works in a small hotel cleaning plates just to gain sympathy from the judges and enter the show.
This is the real story of a contestant on MTV Roadies named Nagesh Chinnadore (Yes its the real name of Suraj of Roadies 8). His fantasy was short-lived. Ultimately the truth came out and he was humiliated in one of the episodes and compared to a donkey on the national television. So, moral of the story is if you don't have it in you don't fake it.
On the side, enjoy the list of best reality shows in India ever, according to me. Opinions, criticism, likes, dislikes are wholeheartedly welcome.
10| (Joint) Comedy Circus - Sony TV
The comedy reality show which was first started in 2007 has gone through many different seasons and various smaller mini-seasons. The show started with a bang and found tremendous support from the viewers. Apparently some future seasons were not that great. Some recent shows of comedy circus are like watching the same old jokes without any new innovation in writing or the performance.
The show has brought forward many excellent Indian as well as Pakistani comedy talents. Actors such as Krishna, Paresh and comedians such as Krushna and Kapil have got a certain star status because of their performance.
Still the show is grossing good number of viewers, may be because of the laugh out loud nature of Archana Puran Singh.

10| (Joint) The Great India Laughter Challenge - Star One
The first reality comedy show got the viewers truly in a laughing mode. The first season amassed quite a good number of viewers or should I say ardent followers of the show. It brought forward some of the rare talent and a host of other comedians that the people loved.
The show has so far seen four seasons and all of them are more or less successful. After the first season which Sunil Pal won, the shows popularity just multiplied. It gave many unknown comedians and mimicry artist a place to showcase their art. Rightly so the second season saw a winner from across the border: Rauf Lala. The third and fourth season were in comparison to the first two seasons a bit less on the comedy side but it managed to give some chuckles.
And who will forget the Siddhuism, the sarcasm of Shekhar Suman, and the call for Khamoshi of Shatrughan Sinha.

9| Sach Ka Saamna - Life Ok
The show hosted by Rajeev Khandelwal did the most good for his career and equally bad for the contestants. The show adapted from the American TV show Moment of Truth got good reviews from the general public, critics, and the media.
The contestant are asked some personal questions that they are required to say the Truth. Underling the word truth here because it is corroborated by a polygraph or generally referred to as a lie detector machine. According to research polygraph is not always correct. Though the contestants have beforehand agreed to that condition.
Knowingly or unknowingly the show has been in controversies for the type of questions that are asked and the repercussions on the "contestants life and the society". The first season saw telly stars and some known faces having their moment of truth whereas the second season was opened for public participation on the theme of removing corruption that is rampant in our country.

8| Sa Re Ga Ma Pa - Zee TV
Started as a singing competition is now changed its format and the winner is picked by public voting. Formerly the show's judges used to take the final decision and decide the winner.
One of the oldest show in India was transformed in 2005 and till now had three seasons for seniors and four seasons of juniors known as Sa Re Ga Ma Lil Champs.
Although the show being the first singing competition show on TV, it was a bit late to catch on the popular feeling of realty shows. Nevertheless, it has brought forward some good singers which is the prime objective of the show. Singers such as Raja Hasan and Vaishali Mhade have got opportunities to sing in mainstream Bollywood movies courtesy Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.

7| India's Got Talent - Colors
Again an adaption from foreign show Got Talent. The show has been adapted in more than 35 countries. And the Indian version has seen five seasons from 2009 till 2014.
The concept of the show is different from other shows and it does not concentrate on one aspect; the show has witnessed brilliant solo dancers, group dancers, singers, stuntmen, and even painters and sand artist.
The diversity of the show can also be gauged by its winners, the first season had a dance group named "The Prince Group", the second one had a choir group "Shillong Chamber Choir ", and the third went again to a dance group "Suresh and Vernon Group" and so on.
So then who might be the next winner. Any guesses, if you have one such talent then prepare for the next audition.

6| Indian Idol - Sony TV
The first reality show in India for solo singers in India. Only Channel V had a similar show ( V Popstars) but that was to find a band instead of a singer. Indian idol actually started the trend of bringing foreign adapted versions of show on the Indian television.
Till date the show is famous and remains the first place for youngsters to showcase their singing. The judging panel in all the seasons has been top class.
So far the most famous winner remains Abhijeet Sawant. But Meiyang Chang is not very far. Do you agree?

5| Dance India Dance - Zee TV
The most famous dance reality show in India. The show so far has done five seasons and the judges out there on the panel are the best in the Industry. Judges thoroughly observe and filter out the best from the rest. A selected few are then trained by one of the judges.
The absolute dance dhamaka has Mithunda at its helm but the final voting process is left out for the public to decide. Apart from having versions where solo dancers are selected, the show has successfully completed a version for children, for moms, and for doubles.

4| Jhalak Dikhla Jaa - Sony TV
At the core it is a dance show where celebrities from various fields are invited to take part. Each celebrity is paired with a choreographer and the winner is decided jointly by public votes and the judge's scores.
It has completed seven seasons and is a hugely popular show.

3| MTV Roadies - MTV
The longest running reality show is at the third place on my list. This is one that I personally don't get bored of; best episodes are of the auditions. Raghu, Rajeev, and Rannvijay just tear the contest apart.
There are no fixed standards as to the selection of the contestant, they are selected on the basis of their "realness". I'm no employee of MTV and would like to point out that the judges there want the real you.

2| Bigg Boss - Colors
This can easily be said as the most controversial reality show on Indian television. The format of the show is simple yet challenging. A bunch of celebrities closed in a house without the comfort of watching TV, friends, family, not even a watch. But they are watched round the clock with cameras all around the house.
Some of the contestants like Vindu, Sameer Soni, and Raageshwari have revived their sinking careers by participating in Bigg Boss.

1| Kaun Banega Crorepati - Sony TV
KBC was the first reality show of India and so far remains the best reality show ever in India. The reason for keeping it at the first place is because it gives common people a chance to show their knowledge and earn money.
It feels nice when people from all strata of society are given an equal chance to earn money from their abilities rather than marrying some unknown supposedly TV star.
Agree or disagree with my list let us know in the comments or vote for your best reality show below.

Nothing is bigger and better than KBC. The pioneer, the trailblazers Amitabh Bachchan, the Baal of all.
Just last week, it was no.1 on TRP of reality shows. In 11th season, just imagine.
Of course, Big Boss and Rodies will win in online voting. Coz, small kids and 80 years old ladies couldn’t vote. KBC appeals the entire spectrum.

@Harsh Patel Churanwale ki beti (lol).....Your point on Roadies is just, and the names you mentioned such as Kiri, Bani and others not getting what they deserve is also well argued. But the jury is out if the show is scripted to favor a few.
Harsh Patel on April 28, 2012:
@kannanwrites Thanks bro, I didn't know and I saw first two seasons all comedians were new. But now this show is Roadies ka Baap. In roadies contestants survive to win respect but a deserving person never wins, For example: Take last 2 seasons both seasons got undeserving winner Anwar and Aanchal. And in Comedy Circus they are getting same winner because of Churanwale ki beti Archana Puran Singh. Roadies is best show I don't care who wins. I think Roadies is scripted because deserving winner is always 2nd or 3rd. Roadies 4- Bani( Runner up )season 5- (Nihal Nikam,Runner up) season 6- ( Kiri, Runner up )- Two bald forced him to pick Nauman. Season 7 _ (MOHIT MALIK) (HE was Finalist) - He lost because of his team ( that was unfair) Season 8 ( Suchit ) 3rd place.

@Harsh Patel It started as a sort of reality show but now it is more of a never ending standing "comedy" show.
Thanks for stopping by and expressing your views.
Harsh Patel on March 18, 2012:
I think comedy circus is not reality show ( does not mean i hate. This show is best. I like this show most espicially kapil and krushna- sudesh i watch this show every time) it is not show because they get money but in other shows they don't get money.
