Songs of Freedom from Stress & Worries
Breaking away from Stress; Into a Carefree World...
"Man was born free, but everywhere he is in chains".... these chains are made of worries, tomorrow, uncertainty, society, rules, norms, goals, job, money, parents, kids, business, home, life, death and so on....
The real freedom one can have is from these invisible bondages... and when that is attained, it is an occasion to celebrate, as these ten songs from Bollywood do ...each in their own style! It does not matter whether it is a housewife or a taxi driver; college student or an underworld assassin, a rural teenage girl or a guy from a metropolitan .... freedom is all that matters.... and it is always a treat to share the joys of one who is free... even if we have not yet had the privilege of experiencing it ourselves !!
These ten great innovative songs are eternal masterpieces. Their musical melody almost gives way to their creative expression of freedom from the cares of this world. If you are gloomy, you need to watch them ... if you are feeling carefree yourself, there is nothing you can identify more with...!
Come... join the celebration of real freedom ... and you will never bother again about something as trivial as politics !!!
I have nothing, nothing do I care about...
"Even if the shop-owner raises the prices, don't worry mate ! ....keep buying till he is ready to give on debt; .....Let whoever be happy and let whoever wants to curse us; ....we will live without care and enjoy our days ..."
One reason why youth can afford to be so carefree even in poverty, is because there is precisely very little to really care for! Life is made of such paradoxes, and you need a creative artist to appreciate and celebrate it in his art. This number, sung by Kishore Kumar & Johny Walker is about four wagabonds, one of whom drives a hired taxi, but has to return it as he hasn't been able to pay its lease rent. Unmindful of what is there to follow, the friends make the best of their last day with the vehicle. Music of this number was composed by S D Burman, lyrics written by Sahir Ludhianwi, and the movie is directed by Chetan Anand.
I broke my shackles... and want to live again..
"From yesterday's darkness, I am looking around rubbing my eyes; There are flowers all around, and I have decided ..... Today I want to live once again.... today I even have the courage to embrace death ..!!"
There are times when our existence can get all tied up in the suffocating bonds of our destiny. This could happen particularly with a young girl trapped in an unpleasant marriage in the traditional Indian society. When and if, she gets an outlet, her freedom would feel nothing less than heaven, as beautifully expressed in this number sung by Lata Mangeshkar, with music composed by S D Burman and lyrics written by Shailendra. This movie, one of the best ever in the history of Bollywood, was directed by Vijay Anand.

- Best Inspirational Songs of Bollywood
The ten greatest inspirational songs of Bollywood, all great musical masterpieces, with an underlying message that is the essence of human life and resilence. With detailed introduction, lyrical extracts and videos.
All is well .....
"Hen has no idea about the fate of the egg; .. whether it will get life or whether it is going to be fried on the fire; ....No one knows what the future holds for us; .. So round your lips, whistle out, and then shout - Hey Brother, All izz Well"
This 21st century song is unforgettable, simply for the disdain with which its addresses the worries of life and the uncertainties of the world. It is one of the most creative responses to the ever increasing complexities of circumstances that characterize life in the new millennium. This number, sung by Sonu Nigam, Swanand Kirkire & Shaan just dismisses all of them. If you can also do the same, you will attain eternal freedom ! The music of this song was composed by Shantanu Moitra, while its lyrics were written by Swanand Kirkire. The primary credit for the song, however, belongs to its director, Rajkumar Hirani.
Shoot the head if it troubles too much !
"Shoot the bullet into the Head, this head is creating a lot of noise; ....If he listens to it, it will be the end of Kallu; ....You would do something, and somebody else will be made to pay the price, Kallu !!"
If you have ever wondered about what the underworld gangsters in Mumbai do to chill out, this number will answer all your queries. It is a fine piece of art and may not be very far from reality. Even those who are a risk to the freedom of people around them, aspire and strive for freedom from worries. This number depicts how these human beings steal a few moments of carefree life even in the middle of violent and vulgar realities of their life. This interesting song is sung by Mano & Chorus. its music composed by Vishal Bharadwaj, while its lyrics are written by Gulzar. It does full justice to the maverick talent of its director, Ram Gopal Verma.

- Best Picturised Songs of Bollywood
The all time best picturised songs from Bollywood movies in its entire history, with introduction, credits and videos. These numbers are a reflection of the great creative genius of those who made them.
Oh Darling ! Don't walk with that swing ...
"My dear, do not walk with such a swing; do not throw your scarf around with such charming style; My dear, do not walk with such a swing"
These words from this number denote a certain degree of intoxication. The number itself is all about upper middle class families in a party, with two gentlemen freaking out with the aid of alcohol and company. In the process, they successfully kill their stresses and tensions away, even if only for a while. Their naughty flirtations are actually enjoyed by their spouses and admired by their friends. This number is all about the party way to relax. It was sung by Bhupinder and Suresh Wadkar, its music composed by R D Burman and its lyrics written by Gulzar. This great movie was directed by Shekhar Kapoor.
My tiny heart...and the small hopes that it harbors...
"I want to blossom today, in the same way as flowers blossom in a garden; I want to wear the clouds as my scarf, and swirl around like a girl gone mad; I want to tie this world in my hairs"
This beautifully conceptualized, choreographed and edited song is like a breath of fresh air that makes everything else look very stale and outdated ! There is nothing like youth, and one who is blessed with it needs nothing more to be merry, as is the case with this village girl enjoying childhood, adolescence and youth, all at the same time. This melodious number was sung by Minmini. Its music was composed by A R Rahman, and lyrics written by P K Mishra. This impressive movie was directed by Mani Ratnam.

- Best Folk Songs of Bollywood
The ten best folk songs from Bollywood movies. These great numbers are not just musical melodies, but also interesting documents of Indian culture, tradition and lives.
O' bird... flying is your destiny...
"Just shrug your wings, there is some dust stuck, and go far off swinging in style; Fly over roads and streets, over towns and hutments, around the corner and in colonies; ...Turn around sharply, fly with style; ...Fulfill all the dreams of your heart; Join the winds and fly with style; ...Phurr phurr; ...You are like pearl and diamond ..."
if you are new to the streets and crowds of old Delhi, the shock of merely being in that chaos can liberate you from all the other cares of the world, as happens with the young man coming here to trace his origins in this number. But the song is actually about the girl, preparing herself to be the next Indian Idol, nurturing her dreams to fly high and far away to the world of success, just like the dove that sits on her shoulders off and on and dances without a care of the world ! This peppy song is sung by Mohit Chauhan. Its music was composed by A R Rahman and lyrics written by Prasoon Joshi. This nice movie was directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, who must get most of the credit for this innovative number, even if this song was not originally planned in the manner it turned out to be.
One who leaves this world smiling will reign destiny...
"This life is not loyal to anybody, and will ditch us one day; ...Death is the real lover that will stand by us in the end; ...The one who shows to the world, the art of living with death ... he will be called the Emperor of destiny ...!"
All limitations are in the mind. Our fears and worries of loss and failure are the real bonds that hold us down, keeping our beings chained. This song rebels against those bonds. It challenges the fear of death, and makes all the rest of fears and phobias fade into the oblivion of triviality. This number can be considered the icon of the angry young man that Amitabh bachchan gave to the Indian masses of the seventies, when the first generation born in independent India was thriving to break free from all shackles. This extremely popular number was sung by Kishore Kumar. Its music was composed by Kalyanji Anandji, and its lyrics written by Anjaan. This movie was directed by Prakash Mehra.

- Best Classical Songs of Bollywood in Raag Darbari Kanada
Raag Darbari Kanada is a great raag for depicting human emotions. These ten classical songs are best examples of this raag, in balancing the audience's tastes with the integrity and preservation of the classical rhythm.
Ahead ... there is light ...
"My flame is fighting with storms; ...My flame now grows like bright torches; ...My name and memories - whether remains or not; This caravan too - whether remains or disappears; ...I have tasted brightness and got illuminated, why should I tolerate suffering any further ..... I am face to face with light; ...face to face...!"
This song has two characters interwoven into one. One is superficial ... denoting the exuberance and enthusiasm of the camaraderie of youth. This is filled with an air of carefree attitude too. But the real character of this song lies at a little abstract depth, where the young group takes inspiration from the story of young Bhagat Singh (an intellectual Indian revolutionary who rebelled against British rule and was hanged), to destroy their fears, and become free ... from all cares. This number is sung by Naresh Iyer and A R Rahman. The music is composed by A R Rahman, and the lyrics written by Prasoon Joshi. This movie was directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra ... another of his masterpieces !
With you ... Only with you ...
"Wherever I go, I always meet with you only;...with you only....with you only...; There is a silence inside all the noise, there is some unconsciousness..... with you only....with you only...."
Nothing liberates a human being like love ! It is a luxury of the priveleged few... those who have still not done away with their innocence. Maybe its an obsession that is not natural .... maybe it is too dangerous and even riskier than death .... yet, when it is there, there is nothing like it. When you are in love, everything else... all the cares of the world... become too trivial to care about... This extremely melodious number is sung by Mohit Chauhan. Its music was composed by Pritam and its lyrics written by Irshad Kamil. This remarkable movie was directed by Imtiaz Ali.
