Best Alternative Music of 1995

The author has been listening to alternative rock music his whole life and took to alternative/grunge music in 1994.

Alternative Rock Music

It can be argued that Nirvana is one of the greatest alternative rock bands of all time. This short lived (grunge) alternative rock band was based in Seattle. New alternative music is impossible to its 90's counterpart.

Alternative Rock

In no particular order at all, these are the best alternative rock tracks of 1995. Billboard ratings, my current taste, and my taste at the time were all taken into consideration. During 1995 I became a teen and music meant a lot to me. Also, there were plenty of significant events that occur during this time such as the Oklahoma City Bombing, OJ Simpsons being found innocent, and the first planet outside our solar system was found. At least these are types of things that go through my head when I think of 1995. I hope this list brings back as many memories for you as it did for me enjoy while putting it together!

Red Hot Chili Peppers My Friends

Coming off the album One Hot Minute, "My Friends" was a Red Hot Chili Peppers smash hit in 1995. It was the only song from One Hot Minute that was included on the greatest hits album. This song became featured on the Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart for four consecutive weeks.

Weezer Say it Ain't So

One of my personal favorites "Say It Ain't So" is a song written by Brian Bell of Weezer. This was released in 1994 and was ranked 72 on Rolling Stones The 100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time. Brian came up with the song by saying "say it ain't so" when he found that his step father beat up his friends mother.

Rob Zombie More Human Than Human

More Human than Human was created by White Zombie and the single from the Astro-Creep: 2000 album. You'll find that the lyrics in this song reference the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick. Another cool reference in the song is the moaning in the intro. It came from a post apocalyptic porn movie Café Flesh directed by Stephen Sayadian. "More Human than Human" quickly became White Zombies' highest rated single of their career. The song earned a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance in 1995 and also named the 68th best hard rock song of all time by VH1.
