Beautiful women of Native American descent.

I have done articles here on the women of Bollywood, almost every country in Asia and some in the Middle East as well.
So let's go back home for this article, back to the USA.
And you can't get any more American than Native American.
Beautiful Native American women have played a big part in our entertainment culture even though you may not have even realized it.
Legendary American actress and singer Pearl Bailey was of Native American descent.
Entertainer and actress and the first African American female to star in a major motion picture, Josephine Baker, was part Apalachee.

Beautiful Native American Women Comments

phillyfreeze on June 24, 2016:

Hi Sabre, I enjoy revisiting your Hubpage "Beautiful Native American Women." Very rich and evergreen content to say the least. Laila's mom was born in 1955 in Louisiana and is of Creole descent which does make her part Native American.

Bill on January 12, 2015:

Without a doubt, the most beautiful woman I ever saw/met was a Cherokee woman, at Myrtle Beach, SC, 23 years old, with a body that would knock your eyes out. She was also the most pleasant cheerful beauty and best dancer I have ever seen. Could have married or done whatever this lady requested for eternity. That was over 50 years ago and I still often remember and think about her.

Nathan Bernardo from California, United States of America on October 14, 2013:

Definitely some of the most gorgeous women around. I've always thought Cher was a knock-out. I know a Native-American woman that I consider possibly the most attractive woman I've ever met. Good stuff, one of my favorite subjects.

Medicinecloud (David) on December 05, 2012:

aquiline..Roman nose etc etc r all compliments 2 this guy..no ethnocentricity in this guy but proud of my Native American heritage..hav gone 2 the States evry summer n sumtimes 2X/summer..Border security always stare hmmm n evn ask "r u full blood'..'which tribe ur frm' (Im Cree) etc etc..very flattering..but dnt want 2 take it that far..I am who Iam..think most of us hav the 'chiselled' sculpted look/features...n curvy (like a bow) lips..n what amazes me is that they use 'us' (copyright infringemt jks...dnt take it serious now..just joking around) on sports teams...Redskins..Braves..Warriors..Chiefs..it does bother sum of my Brs n Sis but hey not this guy..n yes I have 2 agree the 'title' of this topic etc should b "I Bet You Don't Know That A Lot Of Beautiful Female Celebrities Have Native American Blood In Them"..

Nish on June 08, 2012:

This is to CatBar Uk. Her comment "I've always loved Native Americans: their lovely thick black hair, their amazing cheekbones, and their almond eyes and aquiline features"

First of all, why do all the people commenting on Native peoples physical traits have to immediately provide us with a detailed description of their preconceived notion on our appearance: "high cheekbones, almond shaped eyes, and tan!"... seriously? Newsflash: people from all over the globe, including EUROPE, can have those characteristics.

Second, we don't have aquiline noses. That is more of a middle eastern or European trait. Although, all ethnic groups can have people with a aquiline nose. But it is not our common trait. We have small noses. You people have no idea what Natives look like. You can see what real Natives look like here in my album of my family and friends.

Matt Carpenter on April 08, 2012:

I absolutely adore Mickie James!

PhoenixV from USA on February 02, 2012:

I didn't know Carrie Underwood was Native American. I have never seen that picture of Cher before, she is still beautiful. Great hub!

MsCherokee on January 08, 2012:

Back in the ancient days the Native Indians were indeed dark skin, these days they are mix mostly with white and that is why their skin are lighter now but there still dark skins out there. America don't want to mention that the slaves lived and mix marriage with the Indians back in these days, most people don't know their history and Blacks are the superior race because they can be any race even white.

sabrebIade (author) from Pennsylvania on November 17, 2011:

"Beautiful Native American women have played a big part in our entertainment culture even though you may not have realized it."

I suppose to count, you have to be full blooded.

And here I thought that "pure race" thing went out with goose stepping and jack boots in 1945.

Kat on November 17, 2011:

WOW! Im part Cherokee on my mothers side too!!!! Come on dude, show some REAL Native American's NOT someone who has a great great great great great grandpa that was 1/2 cherokee.

ali on October 31, 2011:

micki james is loking prety

sabrebIade (author) from Pennsylvania on October 24, 2011:

PS: Oddly enough though, Wikipedia still says...."Tina Turner (Navajo/Cherokee)" and the HUD.gov page lists her in their list for "Celebrities of Native American Heritage" as a Part of American Indian Heritage Month.

sabrebIade (author) from Pennsylvania on October 24, 2011:

Yeah...I mentioned Tina on my second Hub about this.

jane key on October 24, 2011:

Tina Turner is NOT part Native American. Henry Louis Gates Jr. proved it.

harry on October 09, 2011:

Serene hedin used to be very beautiful

bella mefunny on September 24, 2011:

beauty lovely

James on July 16, 2011:

I know that Angelah Johnson (former Oakland Raider Cheerleader, now actress/comedian) is Native American & Mexican. Which is a pretty common mix. Plus a lot of Mexicans & Central Americans etc, are a mix of Amerindian and European ancestry. Which is why many of them have brown skin and dark hair. There's a facebook page, called Women of the Navajo, that features Native beauties.

Roberto on May 22, 2011:

idriskhan on March 31, 2011:

sabrebIade (author) from Pennsylvania on January 31, 2011:

Wow April...really?

I take it you have never read any of my Hubs.

April on January 30, 2011:

Ok so your trying to show some native women, come on now. Show some real natives please. I'm a native women, I was expecting more of the real deal....stands quiet and not noted over and over. Have you seen any native women.

dan on January 14, 2011:

Everybody and their dog can claim to be part cherokee, working with actual Native Americans I come across hundreds of people from the south and eastern united states that claim to be part cherokee (most of them white)

I'm willing to guess that very few if any of the above list can actually show a certificate showing their degree of their blood. Takes more than tan skin and black hair to convice me your native. FYI real Cherokee's are quite dark. I invite all of you to visit a reservation, talk about this with it's people and see just how loud the laughter gets.

Vanessa Simmons on January 05, 2011:

I really enjoyed seeing that there is beautiful women in the us that have some native american blood in them, but too sad they never grew up on the rez to see how REAL NATIVE WOMEN live life as a Native.

fullmoon on December 07, 2010:

Although these women are probably "proud" to say they are part Native, how many of them know anything about their culture or their elder's culture? Have they even been to the rez of the tribe or clan they claim they are from? Just curious.

sabrebIade (author) from Pennsylvania on October 02, 2010:

Looking back at some of the comments here, I guess I should have titled the Hub "Here Are Some Beautiful Female Entertainers That Have Native American Blood In Them".

But you know... that title is just so long.

I wanted to show entertainers that are popular in American culture that have NA blood in them.

A REAL NativeWmn on September 29, 2010:

Wow, maybe they aren't popular by your standards, but in the Native community there are tons of beautiful women. I am pretty ashamed and dismayed by the list of celebrities who have done nothing to honor the tiny bit of Native they might be. Only dragging out their "Indian-ness" for PC sake.

Disgusted by this thread. You don't honor REAL Native women by posting this, AT ALL

rezzie on August 22, 2010:

Where's Kateri Walker?

CatBar UK on August 17, 2010:

Fascinating and beautiful! I've always loved Native Americans: their lovely thick black hair, their amazing cheekbones, and their almond eyes and aquiline features - plus they usually have fantastic bods too! (S,cuse all the adjectives but couldn't help it!)

Ive thought of some more (yes, ALL beautiful): Shania Twain; Buffy St Marie; the 70s band Redbone; Julie Felix (part Welsh or Irish and Mexican mestizo); Tina Turner; and I believe the model Jerry Hall said she was part NA...

Hope you 'find' some more (males as well, please). Ei Robbie Robertson of The Band; Lou Diamond Phillips, to name two. There must be masses out there somewhere.

Irish Women on July 23, 2010:

I had no idea with Carrie Underwood. Very interesting.

e -special bloody on June 13, 2010:

There are no full-blooded NA in the modern world... only on paper. Many who claim they are full are not, they are are part hispanic, white, or black.

G kid on May 21, 2010:

I was expecting to see full blooded Native American chicks. I was disappointed reading that all of these women either are part Native American, or have Native American ancestry.

sabrebIade (author) from Pennsylvania on May 16, 2010:

Actually the title of this Hub should have been " I Bet You Don't Know That A Lot of Beautiful Female Celebrities Have Native American Blood In Them" but that title would have been too long.

What I wanted to show was that a lot of women that are considered beautiful and talented by our society are at least part NA.

It's hard to find full blooded NA's that are very popular in today's culture.

Although in my second Hub about this I do have one or two.

Monkey migraine on May 15, 2010:

Yeah...this is a nice list, but these are all women who are part Native American. Most are only a fraction. This isn't a very good representation of Native American beauty. If you had tried hard enough, you could have found some Native American women who are all native, not just partial, and also beautiful.

jite from delhi on May 15, 2010:

Lovely Hub-Check out my hub on the Cherokee Rose and the Trail of Tears. I posted my Grandmother's photo and wrote about the family's denial of their Cherokee heritage, something I call the Indian in the Cupboard syndrome.

Sam on March 25, 2010:

So wheres all the Native American beauties? I only see beautiful woman that are part NA. Most likely many don't give two hoots about what's going on with the race and Indian Country
