The Film

Back to the Future is one of those classic films that people tend to love watching year in year out. I'm one of them! Marty McFly lives at home with his parents. His mother, Lorraine, is an alcoholic and his father, George, is still being bullied by his Supervisor, Biff. Biff, as it happens, was his bully at school too. And to put the icing on the cake so to speak, his teacher thinks he'll turn out a no good loser just like his father. He fails the Battle of the Bands audition too. He's not had much luck in life just lately.

Later on that day, after he fails the auditions, Marty meets his slightly crazy, but good friend, Doc Brown. Doc is a very loveable scientist. Now, Doc has invented this time travelling car, which is powered by plutonium. The only trouble is, this plutonium is stolen from Libyan terrorists. When the terrorists discover this, they are none too pleased about this, so try to shoot Doc dead. Marty gets caught in the crossfire, so he decides to escape in the time travelling car, which he accidentally drives at 88 miles per hour.

So now, here we are in 1955. Marty clearly didn't mean to travel back in time, but he did. The plutonium has been used up, and Marty is unable to return to 1985. He gets to meet young versions of his parents, before they were even dating. The plot of the story is basically he has to try and get them to fall in love, else he won't even exist! Things become difficult and awkward for Marty though as his young mother, clearly not knowing that he is his future song, fancies him. That's quite amusing to watch lol. Can Marty make it back to 1985?!!

My Thoughts

I've seen this film several times over the years, and always enjoy watching it. I think most people would like to time travel somewhere into the past or future. I don't think I'd want to see my parents when they were dating though lol. I mean, the story is a simple one really. He goes back in time where he sees his parents, then he has to figure out how to get back to the future. But what goes on in the movie is what makes it funny. Michael J. Fox wasn't the 1st actor, believe it or not, offered the role of Marty. The role originally when to Eric Stoltz. But he got fired about a month into filming and was replaced with Michael.

Not only does he have to try and get his future mother and father together, which in itself is funny, both him and Doc have the job of trying to get back to 1985. It's a ridiculously funny film, and very well acted too. Biff, the school bully, turns out to be just as bad in 1985 when it turns out he's George McFly's boss. But it's funny in 1955 when we see a scene where he gets his just desserts.

This is a very special movie. Fox took over this role and owned it

John Hansen from Gondwana Land on December 11, 2020:

This movie is a classic, and I can’t imagine anyone else having played Marty McFly other than Michael J Fox. It still seems to pop up on TV every year because it is so popular.
