Introduction...

Attack On Titan Season 3 was by far the best season of Attack On Titan. Well that’s because it was fast paced and had a lot going on. Thus making this review completely subjective, but then again what review of Attack on Titan isn’t subjective? That being said, this review will only cover Part 1 since I wanted to review both parts separately. That being said, let’s get to the summary.

The Summary...

So the season started off with Eren training with Levi to master his titan abilities. While this was happening Hange uncovered a conspiracy to eradicate the Scout Regimen. All because Krista Lens and Eren were among their ranks. Krista was revealed to be princess Historia, as Kenny Ackerman was hired by Historia’s dad, Rod Reiss, to get her to take Eren’s titan powers and assume her place on the throne. This was because Grisha Yeager, Eren’s dad killed Frita and stole his titan power. Historia refused to take Eren’s powers, under the notion that he had the strength to save humanity.
Rod Reiss licked the spilled Titan serum and transformed into a titan collapsing the cave he, Eren, Historia, and Kenny were in. Historia then struck down her dad, after Pixis pulled off a coup to depose the false king. Afterwards Historia was crowned queen, the beast titan met with Reiner and Berthodlt to continue their mission to eradicate humanity. And part 1 of the season ended with Erwin and the scouts preparing to retake Wall Maria.

I don't which is kinkier out of context. Eren being chained up, or the fact that he was going to be eaten alive. Or maybe it's both...

Closing Thoughts...

This season felt better paced than the previous seasons. Despite this is felt far more evenly paced with the mystery behind Kenny Ackerman and Rod Reiss’ motivations. The build up to every action beat makes the action and conflict feel exciting and impactful.

This is why I felt it was the best season so far, as it had for me what the other seasons lacked:”A reason to get invested.”

However I feel the way the characters were handled in the previous seasons along with the pacing of the previous seasons may have hurt this season for new comers. Mainly this season has a lot of drama and character driven moments that might fall flat if a viewer was lost by the execution of the previous seasons.

But this only Part 1. Stay tuned for my review of Part 2.
