Ambient Music Single Review: "Summer Fades" by Baying Ridges

Baying Ridges’ Summer Fades is a sonic representation of the change from summer into the season of mists. Soft, breezy flows of warm sound join a gently shifting, extending line of subtly varying synth that moves with a rougher edge through the diffuse clouds of trembling light and the wind’s feathery breath. The track is full of a sense of drifting and the premonition of autumnal decay. The openness and glide of the delicate sounds has a distinct pained emotion to it.

A nuanced, slightly cutting line of sharper sound provides contrast to the mists and floating that surrounds it. The track is distant feeling and tinged by tragic sensations while the cloudy flow extends through the music. As the rougher, twisting through line goes on, another swell of warmer sound starts to rise, sunnier perhaps but still surrounded by air sweeping past while that vaguely gritty line of sound runs on and on, everything washed by the season’s turning and into silence.
