Animation

Animation is the illusion of movement created by a series of pictures. These graphics can be sketched, painted, photographed, 3D model, and so forth. Traditionally, creating a moving picture required filming an object or scene and then playing the film in front of the viewer's eyes.

Keyframes are the basic building blocks of animation. Each keyframe captures the object's attributes at a certain time in the animation, such as the amount of transparency given to a layer or the camera angle. In order to produce an animation that illustrates progression, a track must have two or more keyframes.

Whatever the system of representation selected, whatever the means of acquisition utilized, and whatever the process of visual restoration of the animation, it is important to represent each phase of the movement carried out and recorded picture by picture. The system of representation to be used should reflect clearly and faithfully all the effects produced by physical characteristics (movements of the head, hand, arm, and body) in the performance of any given action (a movement).

History of Animation

Animation predates the film by a very long shot.

One of the earliest forms of animation was the flipbook, which appears to move as you leaf through it.

What is 2D and 3D Animation?

The primary distinction between 2D and 3D is the depth of objects or models in 3D, which is not found in 2D objects. 2D then gives a less realistic effect to the objects represented. 2D art is flat, imagine on a piece of paper, so we have to imagine that the subjects are flat and do not exist in three dimensions.

Animators in 2D and 3D work on animated films, video games, and advertising. A 2D animator begins with a sketch or image and then utilizes software to bring figures to life. In 2D animation, the image is created frame-by-frame; each time a still picture is made and shown in sequence. A 3D animator creates 3D models but does not sketch.

2D Animation

3D Animation

Frame Rate

The standard frequencies are 25 (Pal), 24 (Cinema), or 30 (NTSC) images/second, depending on the types of animation to be represented.

2 or 3 frames per second are plainly insufficient for smooth animation of basic forms, yet such a frequency, required for aesthetic effects, can be termed animation given the whole context of the work.
