Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had been married only for a short time when people suspected they were going to become parents soon especially since both of them love children and had expressed a desire to start a family soon.
There were rumors that the Duchess of Sussex was pregnant before it was officially revealed by Kensington Palace. She was not allowed to make an announcement until after three months. However, there was one telltale sign that she was expecting a royal baby before an official announcement was made or before a baby bump was seen.
Meghan Markle's Hair
Meghan's hair always looks gorgeous. It was usually glossy, shiny and straight. The former Suits actress admitted in a 2011 interview that she uses semi-permanent straightening treatments for her hair.
Actually, she talked about her hair because her mother is black and her father is Dutch and Irish. Therefore, her hair texture is very curly and frizzy. She added that she has been getting Brazilian blowouts for a long time, but she would have to stop using them when she got pregnant. Then her hair will look different. The public will probably see her hair up more than flowing down below as in the past.
Brazilian hair straightening treatments can be performed on all types of hair. Its main purpose is to eliminate hair frizz and straighten curls and waves.
Etiquette coach Myka Meier told the Sun that when Meghan stops getting Brazilian blowouts, it could be a very good indication that she is pregnant. The chemicals in those treatments are dangerous for a woman to use when she is expecting and should be avoided, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
One of the requirements that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West stipulated when they were looking for a surrogate for their third child was that the woman must not use those chemicals in her hair.
Meier isn't sure about the chemicals Meghan uses, but she thinks the Duchess of Sussex uses a keratin or a Brazilian treatment to straighten it. Whatever she uses, she had to stop using the products. That meant Meghan would more than likely begin to wear her hair up in a bun most of the time instead of long and loose as she often wears it. That wasn't a problem for her because she seems to like the messy bun anyway.
Dr. Sarah Jarvis, Clinical Director of Patient.info, explained that pregnant women should not use dangerous chemicals on their hair. Nothing is taken internally, but small amounts can be absorbed through the scalp. Besides, fumes can be inhaled. Other doctors also agree that keratin hair treatments should be avoided during pregnancy.
Dr. Jarvis explained that keratin treatments contain formaldehyde that could cause birth defects if much of it enters the body.
Brazilian blowouts usually last about 10-12 weeks and can cost from $150 to $500 for each treatment.
Meghan Markle's First Pregnancy
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex went on a 16-day royal tour to Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand. On the first day of the tour when they arrived in Australia, Kensington Palace made an official announcement that Meghan was in her second trimester of pregnancy. The expectant mother wore her hair up in a messy bun quite a number of times while on the royal tour.
She and Prince Harry became first-time parents of a son named Archie in May 2019, one year after their marriage.
Duchess of Sussex's Post-Pregnancy Hair Styles
After Meghan gave birth, she probably waited longer before she went back to Brazilian blowouts because she was nursing. It would have been safer for the baby after he was born.

Brad, thank you for your comments about the royals. I must admit I like reading and writing about them. I think my fascination lies in the fact that years ago I could only read about the royals in history books and most of them were dead.
Today, I can see what is going on in the royal family as events happen. Each day I find something interesting to write about them. I believe if it is interesting to me, it will also be interesting to others.
To answer your questions, I think Princess Diana was one of a kind, and no one can be exactly like she was.
Brad on December 05, 2018:
I have never understood this fascination with Royalty, and especially during the Feudal System where everyone outside of royalty were slaves to royalty.
Today, in England we are paying homage to the Royalty, Why?
Here is a quote from Princess Diana?
"Princess Diana, who married Queen Elizabeth II's son, Prince Charles, in 1981, and became the Princess of Wales when she was 20 years old, famously said that, "Being a princess isn't all it's cracked up to be."
My wife is glued to the TV series "The Crown".
So,when Meghan has the baby, it is just another mouth for the people of England to feed. imho
Do you really think she is anything like Princess Diana?
Margaret Minnicks (author) from Richmond, VA on August 19, 2018:
Louise, people are already waiting for them to have a baby. They do want to start a family soon, but they have an upcoming tour first.
Louise Powles from Norfolk, England on August 19, 2018:
They certainly will make lovely parents. I've always liked Prince Harry. I had never heard of Meghan Markle before she married him, but I like her. She's a lovely young lady.
