An Evening of Elegance With Love Songs, Comedy, Good Food and Dancing
An exquisite evening of soulful sounds, comedy, breathtaking surroundings and luscious food, caused this #Black Tie Affair at The Merion, to be a complete success. The Intruders were the stars of the show, creators of such major hits as #Cowboys to Girls, When We Get Married and Me Tarzan You Jane. Now That's Entertainment and Fyne Artz Recordz, presented this elegant event for the indulgence of their guests. Surrounded by a grand spiral staircase, all marble foyer, and columns, freshwater tanks, and sculptures. #The Merion, is located at 1301 Route 130 South, Cinnaminson, New Jersey.
The evening was escalated with a tantalizing selection of delectable food and outstanding entertainment. Imagine being enveloped by beautiful surroundings, with attentive white-gloved, table-side service, well dressed Christian oriented individuals, who relaxed for an evening of clean comedy by Keith "Rock" Shell and CP Lacey. After minutes of laughter, the very talented Sheila Song performed her major hits such as Shadows and Hard Times. Once we were treated by an abundance of amazing talent, the culmination for the evening was the originators of #Philadelphia soul, the very enchanting Intruders. One fan described them as a group that recorded songs "during a time when men were men and women were women." The Intruders sang about love and things that meant something in our lives.
The Intruders Are Amazing Performers
During an interview after the Black Tie Affair, members of the very talented Intruders, explained who inspired them as performers? Bobby Starr, Glen Montgomery, and Phil Gay expressed how, they idolized such singers as Walter and Scotty, of The Whispers who are legendary for soulful lyrics that captivated listeners. This group was known for "Such songs as I Wanna Know Your Name, where the lyrics were two or three minutes long and was so beautiful. You had to take advantage of every second." Donnie Hathaway also inspired them to sing and had a major influence on the evolution of the Philly sound.
#Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia shared these historical aspects concerning #The Intruders that, "In 1965, when songwriters and record producers #Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff first contemplated leaving the Cameo-Parkway record label to risk launching their own label, the vocalists on which they pinned all their hopes and venture capital were The Intruders. Like many other subsequent acts the duo produced, which included Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes and The O'Jays, The Intruders had already developed a vocal sound that was both theirs and uniquely Philadelphian." These points of history are relevant because "Gamble and Huff's success with The Intruders helped convince Columbia Records to grant them the money to launch #Philadelphia International. Gamble and Huff acknowledged that their work with The Intruders was the foundation of what they called 'The Sound Of Philadelphia.'" It is commendable to discover what a major contribution The Intruders have been to the evolution of so much outstanding music that we have enjoyed over the years.
Current members of The Intruders talked about how each singer within the group can sing lead which is unique. "Usually, you find someone to sing lead and then find background members but each of us can build a harmony." They feel very fortunate to have gotten together as a group. Bobby Starr then asked, "What was the biggest nation?" He went on to explain how it was, "the imagination. Today there is too much profanity in music and the attire of the artists has changed. This also changed the attitudes of people." He went on to remind us about such talented singers as Jackie Wilson and The Drifters, who had a two or three-minute window to sell themselves as performers. Producers such as Berry Gordy knew how to sell his artists because he knew the business. Gordy was a masterful architect within the music industry. Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff are master architects who have created dynamic hits through The Intruders such as When We Get Married, Cowboys to Girls, Save the Children and The Intruders Are Together. Over the years we have been fortunate; to experience such outstanding music which consists of so many beautiful love songs that mirrored our lives.
Elegance At It's Best was the theme for this black-tie event. As the guests settled in for an evening of copacetic ambiance, delectable food, laughter, and blissful music; a feeling was generated of pure comfort and happiness. Matthew 5:9 describes perfectly what events of this stature can accomplish as it states: "Happy are the peaceable since they will be called sons of God." New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures The promoter Rick Coley and his crew worked hard to produce clean entertainment that continues to attract audiences of all ages, races, creeds, and colors. An image in the future where clean and decent entertainment will be the norm with nothing but the unending pleasure which surrounds us. A world without sickness, death, pain or sorrow as well as beautiful music. This is the world that I pray, each of us will experience one day.
