4 Food Addicts from TLC's Freaky Eaters

TLC's show "Freaky Eaters" was a show in TLC hosted by psychotherapist Mike Dow and nutritionist J.J. Virgin which helps food addicts.

Christine (Addicted to Sugar)

Christine is a forty seven year old middle-aged woman yet her diet is like that of a five year old who was given the money to buy whatever she wanted to eat.

She eats a variety of sweets such as candy, chocolate bars, ice cream, cakes, cookies and caramel popcorn.

Even at an early age, Christine liked sugar. Even though she lived in a farm in rural Nebraska, she gorged on Twinkies and Ho Hos instead of fresh livestock and produce.

Christine was married at the early age of twenty and her marriage only lasted five year. The short union produced a son and daughter. The son, Kevin, was featured in this episode but the daughter was not.

The bitter divorce made Christine turn to sugar as a means of comforting her.

This is however dangerous as massive sugar consumption can lead to obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Christine consumes a whopping Six thousand five hundred calories from sugary food and this is four times the amount the average woman should consume.

Kevin was so worried that he reached out to Freaky Eaters experts Dr. Mike Dow, a psychotherapist, and J.J. Virgin, a nutritionist, to try to help Christine cure her addiction.

The two experts bring Christine to a sugary grave made out of seven hundred fifty pounds of sugar. The grave is marked with a tombstone with Christine's name on it.

Kevin also reads a eulogy to his mom as if she had passed away.

The experts and Kevin also try to cure Christine's fear of water and help her conquer it.

They also encourage Christine to cook real home-cooked meals and to socialize more in order for her to stop using sugar as a crutch.

They successfully help Christine conquer her sugar addiction.

Christine (Addicted to Cheesy Potatoes)

Christine is addicted to potatoes with cheese whether they be fries, chips, mashed potatoes or tater tots.

While there is nothing wrong with having these treats occasionally, eating cheesy potatoes on a regular basis is a surefire way to get diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.

Christine has been eating nothing but cheesy potatoes the past thirty years and has an aversion to other kinds of food.

It has become so bad that she does not eat together with her husband Patrick.

Christine has an intake of eight thousand calories and one hundred seventy six grams of fat.

On a yearly basis, she consumes three thousand pounds of potatoes and one thousand five hundred cups of cheese.

Her husband Patrick tries help her by asking help from experts Dr. Mike Dow, a psychotherapist, and J.J. Virgin, a nutritionist.

The two try to help Christine by showing her how much cheesy potatoes she has been eating. They show her nine hundred pounds of potatoes

and one hundred twenty pounds of cheese. This is Christine's four month consumption not her one year consumption.

They also have her touch different vegetables and have her carry ten pounds of potatoes while they walk around the neighborhood.

The two experts gradually have Christine try out other foods in order to expand her diet and also have her sit in front of her husband while they eat roast chicken and salad.

Christine has since quit eating cheesy potatoes and has turned her attention to spinach wraps and salads.
