2009 Hankook Girls

  • Author:
  • Updated date:

Dohn121 is a freelance writer who currently resides at the foothills of the Shawangunk Mountains of New York's famed Hudson Valley.

After writing a hub article on Falken Tire Show Girls, I decided to write another hub article on arguably their biggest competitors: Hankook Tire USA Umbrella Girls. Another name for them could also be Hankook Spokes Models or simply Hankook Models. Both groups of ladies garner much attention during motor sports events all around the country while promoting their company's most important assets--no, not themselves (ha ha)--their tires! In this business, presentation is certainly everything, especially when it's geared to the male demographic between the ages of 16 and 35. So why are tires so important to motor sports? They can literally mean the difference between victory and defeat and being one of the most reputable tire companies in the world, Hankook Tire USA certainly has a firm place in the industry.

Brought To You By:

A Brief Overview About Hankook Tires

The Hankook Tire group, based in Seoul, South Korea is the seventh largest tire company in the world. Established in 1941 as the Chosun Tire Company, it was renamed Hankook Tire Manufacturing in 1968.

Hankook Tire's worldwide reputation has largely grown due to its radial tire and bias-ply tire production. The company now supplies tires as original equipment to the Toyota Motor Corporation, Ford Motor Company trucks, General Motors trucks, International Truck and Engine Corporation, and others. In addition to producing about 50 million tires annually, the company also sells batteries, alloy wheels, and brake pads.

The Battle of the Umbrellas

If ever you attended a Formula Drift event or the Drift Championships, you'd understand just how important it is for each company to represent their brand as motor sports is a multi-billion dollar industry. Among the tire companies, Hankook, Falken, and Toyo tires are tops. Monster Energy Drinks and NOS Energy Drinks are among the most popular beverage companies at said events that are readily present. Some of the most beautiful models in the industry grace the landscape while promoting their respective companies and some tote their signature umbrellas around like geishas with parasols: Falken Tires and Hankook Tires first come to mind. So yes, the competition is rough, but the fresh and beautiful faces of these ladies are sure to please. I'd like to introduce to you the 2009 Hankook Tire USA Umbrella Girls Helen Fancik, Kathy Gardiner, Janelle Ha, and last but not least Ashley Sarto. Please enjoy!

Formula Drift 2009 Team Hankook Tire USA

Helen Fancik

Hometown: Vista, CA

Helen grew up in a very strict household wherein she learned to speak (aside from English) Slovakian and Hungarian. When she was invited to become a 2009 Hankook Tire USA Umbrella Girl, she was at the time modeling for Monster Energy Drinks. She describes herself as being more of a "good girl" rather than a "bad one" who refuses to be pressured into doing things she's not comfortable doing. She enjoys sunbathing at the beach and pool, attending cars shows, skateboarding, playing with her dogs and drawing and painting. She also collects watches and sunglasses.

Measurements: 33-24-33

Much like fellow Maxim Hometown Hottie Ursula Mayes who's also one-half Korean, Kathy Gardiner was an army brat growing up, having lived in Germany, Korea, and Italy including many different places all throughout the continental United States. Kathy began her modeling career doing model shoots locally in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her modeling agency then suggested that she try submitting her photos to Maxim's Hometown Hotties contest. It's safe to say that she was ecstatic after having found out that she made the Top 100. She would end up placing 5th in 2005. It's also important to note that Kathy, just like Ursula Mayes was also a Deal or No Deal Model as well.

"Life is easy, but I make it complicated. I stand up for what i think is right, and i get beat up for it. I consider myself intelligent, yet i have my moments others consider "slow". I have a very bubbly and outgoing personality. I'm one of those girls who will randomly jump into a lake just because you said i wouldn't do so. Big time shopper, sushi eater, wine drinker, and movie watcher. I prefer to stay home, with a glass of wine and a great movie over going out to the club every night.

"I live in Las Vegas, but San Francisco is my hometown. I am a full time student at UNLV majoring in marketing. After i receive my bachelors, i plan to return for my masters in advertisement. My goal is to work as an advertisement executive in the field of fashion. I work part-time in retail. I'm honestly only working there for my 40% discount.

"Singing is my first love. Followed by dancing, acting, playing the piano, and of course modeling. I graduated from Las Vegas Academy as a vocal major. I am jazz, ballet, and hip hop trained. And I took piano lessons for 6 years. "I was born an entertainer, so let me entertain you."

"I currently hold the title for Miss HIN Seattle 2008. It is very fortunate for me to be an import model because I'm into cars, but mostly bikes. I hope one day to own an audi R8 or a Suzuki GSX-R600.

"I really appreciate all of you who take the time to read this. I hope it has helped you to get to know me better."

Ashley Sarto

DOB: Jan 13, 1988

Hometown: Hampshire/Chicago, IL

Measurements: 32-21-33

Height: 5'8"

Hair/Eye color: Brown/Brown

Education: Arizona State University

Turn-ons: Eyes, smile, gymnast-type arms

Turn-offs: Arrogance, cheaters and guys that only want that one thing.

Favorite Sport: Soccer

Little known things: I'm sarcastic and I snort when I laugh.

Goal: Become a dermatologist

Ashley Sarto began her modeling career at the age of 13. When she turned 15 she became fascinated with cars and car shows a year later. With two years of car show experience, she found herself on the cover of Import Tuner Magazine and hasn't looked back. Ashley considers herself a simple girl who likes sushi, cars, and a pair of nice jeans. She is certainly an up-and-coming import model who is on the fast track to stardom, as she is one of several beautiful faces of Hankook Tire America as one of their Umbrella Girls. Like fellow Hankook Tire America Umbrella Girl Janelle Ha, she claims that the secret to keeping in shape is not working out but rather a very fast metabolism.

Personally I've always loved Asian women, especially Korean girls. In my opinion they are gorgeous. Does anyone else think Korean girls are the best, or do you have another preference? I'm also curious to know which type of Asian woman you think is the best for marriage. I am chatting with some girls online at the moment and trying to find the right Asian partner to make me happy. Wish me luck!
