About Zankyou no Terror (Terror in Resonance)

A nuclear facility in Japan is shaken by a terrorist attack and all that’s left to lead is the word “VON” written in red. The government is in chaos for their inability to respond and the police are frantically hunting the perpetrators but to no avail. No one including the general public has any clue.

Six months later, a video surfaced on the Internet. There are two unrecognizable teenage boys in the video, who call themselves as “Sphinx”. They give a head-on challenge to the police to catch them while they cause massive mayhem across Tokyo. There’s a mass panic in the city and the police are powerless to stop it. Kenjirou Shibazaki, an elite detective, is caught in this destructive chaos.

The anime, Zankyou no Terror follows the story of these teenage boys named Nine and Twelve. They, in reality, are the results of a secret experiment conducted by the Rising Peace Academy. To hide this tragic truth, they hide between the world of deception and secrets and disclose the atrocious deeds of the organization.

In the world beyond the human realm, shinigami, the god of death, resides. By knowing anyone’s face and name, he can kill the person through a notebook called a Death Note. Ryuk, one of the shinigami, is tired of his lifestyle and for the sake of fun, he drops his Death Note into the human world.

Light Yagami, a high school student with high IQ, stumbles upon the Death Note. Unsure of what it does, he tries the notebook by writing a criminal’s name he saw on TV. As a result, the criminal dies instantly. Impressed by its efficiency, Light vows to exterminate every criminal present on Earth and become the God of the new world.

The sudden death of criminals raises questions within the police department. Unable to determine the source of the death, police appoint the internationally acclaimed detective, L, to handle the case. With his quick-wittedness, L successfully finds out that Light is behind all these mysterious murders, but is unable to figure out how he does it. The story takes a drastic turn when people with undisclosed names begin to die.

Saki Morimi is a cheerful college student, who is traveling to the United States for her graduation trip. When in Washington D.C., she confronts a naked Japanese man outside the White House, who is suffering from amnesia. The man is known by the name of Akira Takizawa, however, his real identity is unknown.

Takizawa learns that his phone has 8.2 billion yen in digital cash and he is a part of an unusual game. The game also includes 11 other members and they are all called Selecao. Each of them is given 10 billion yen to save Japan from terrorist attacks. In case, any of these individuals spend the money for selfish needs, he will be eliminated.

Despite Takizawa’s skepticism, saki befriends him and unknowingly, becomes a part of a life and death game. Higashi no Eden follows these two individuals' journeys who are struggling to find the truth behind the mysterious game and why Takizawa is among the chosen ones.

Psycho-Pass is a futuristic anime set in Japan. The rules and regulations no longer demand people’s involvement, instead, a computerized network called the Sibyl System endlessly evaluates citizens’ mental health. The system judges people on the basis of a cymatic scan and determines who are harnessing criminality potential.

Inspectors of the Ministry of Welfare Public Safety Bureau Department deal with these potential criminals using a computerized gun called the “Dominator”. The dominator activates itself when the Sibyl System judges the person to be a criminal, otherwise, it remains in a locked state. Inspectors and Enforcers, the latent criminals, take the final decision to trigger the dominator or not.

Akane Tsunemori is a rookie inspector and the protagonist of the series. She along with her Enforcer team including the former detective Shinya Kogami has to take down the criminal mastermind, Shogo Makishima. Makishima is a special criminal who is judged as a law-abiding citizen by the Sibyl System despite his continuous crimes.

The world is endowed with advanced technology. Cremona is an archipelagic nation and is overflowing with crimes and assaults. “Killer B” is a serial killer and is majorly responsible for the chaos. He uses a sharp blade and possesses superhuman abilities.

Keith Flick is a renowned detective of the Royal Investigation Service and is given the task to take down this serial killer. The crime in Cremona is on the exponential rise from executions of lawbreakers to strikes on famous figures, it’s soon revealed that there is more than one person involved in the uprising havoc.

As Keith progresses in his investigation, various plots related to secret organizations and the extent of the government’s illicit activities come to light. Moreover, the story of domestic terrorism and human experiments force Keith to question the reliability of his close allies.

Unfortunately, one day he finds himself stuck in a conflict between Britannia and Area 11. For his safety, a mysterious girl named C.C. gives him the power of Geass, also called the “Power of Kings”. The power lets Lelouch hypnotize people and order them to do anything he desires, even if it’s killing themselves.

Lelouch disguises himself under a superhero named Zero, whose main aim is to help the Japanese regain their freedom. However, beneath that mask, Lelouch has its own ulterior motives that can change the Britannnian history once and forever.

Working at the prestigious Eisler Memorial Hospital, Dr. Kenzou Tenma is the most renowned neurosurgeon, who is soon expected to become the director of the hospital. To maintain its name and fame, the current hospital director always prefers his doctors to treat the rich and famous personalities first, putting the lives of poor people at stake. Due to this, a woman loses her husband and accuses Dr. Tenma of being guilty because he had to switch patients at the last moment.

Next time, a similar situation occurs and instead of treating the city’s mayor, Dr. Tenma decides to operate on a young boy named Johan Liebert. His decision to atone for his mistake costs him dearly. He loses his social standing and elite reputation.

A few days later, the hospital director and two other doctors die mysteriously. Dr. Tenma is found suspicious, but due to lack of evidence, his position is restored and he is promoted as the new hospital director. His life takes an upheaval when he learns the murderer is none other than the young boy, Johan Liebert, whom he saved nine years ago.

In Akihabara, Tokyo, Rintarou Okabe is an eccentric scientist, who lives with Mayuri Shiina, his childhood friend, and Hashida Itaru, a hacker. Together, they run “Future Gadget Laboratory” in the apartment rented by Rintarou. They spend their every day tinkering with the machine labeled as “Phone Microwave”. The machine has a strange function of converting bananas into piles of green gel.

“Phone Microwave” is a miracle in itself, but it isn’t considered a groundbreaking invention. Rintarou is desperate to make a scientific breakthrough which lets him discover the unique feature of the machine. He learns that “Phone Microwave” has the feature of sending emails to the past, which can alter the flow of history.

Steins; Gate is an extraordinary anime that leads Rintarou to dive deep into the scientific mysteries and practicality. He also needs to understand what it takes to hold responsibility for the flow of time.

No.6 is one of the luxurious cities formed after the end of the disastrous world war. The remaining mankind has taken shelter in these cities and is apparently living a peaceful and absolutely perfect life.

Shion, an elite resident of the No.6, meets Nezumi, a mysterious outsider boy. Nezumi lives far away from the cities in an isolated wasteland and is labeled as a fugitive. Through Nezumi, Shion is shocked to learn of the outside world. Despite knowing he’s a runaway, Shion gives Nezumi shelter in his home. As a result, Shion and his mother lose the elite status and are forced to leave No.6 city.

Shion's life takes a drastic turn and he starts to learn about the darker side of the city. He once again meets with Nezumi and together, they set out on a journey to learn more about each other’s distant worlds.

The anime takes place is in the futuristic town of Sugomori City. The city people lead normal people, however, least they are aware that the city is nothing but a part of large-scale experiments and is termed as the Kizuna System. The system tests people’s tendencies by artificially connecting them through shared pain and suffering. People connected with the system are called “Kiznaivers”.

Katsuhira Agata is a reserved young boy who barely has any sense of pain or suffering. His friend, Chidori Takashiro, can rarely recall Katsuhira’s personality before the profound change. Katsuhira is a target of a constant bully, but it never affects him as all these emotions are far away from his grasp.

One faithful day, Katsuhira and a few other teenagers are carried off to join the Kizuna System as “Kiznaivers”. Now each of these teenagers' life is made connected with each other such as that if one is in pain, then the others will go through equal suffering. They are forced to become lab rats for a system that is designed with the intention of world peace.

The Grace Field House is an orphanage for 38 orphans who live together as a big family. They are supervised by the caretaker named Isabella, whom they call “Mama”. The children live an ideal life. They are required to take daily tests, then they are free to spend their time in any way they want to, but within the boundaries of the orphanage. They are provided with gourmet food, tidy clothes, games, and plush beds.

Every now and then, one of the orphans is adopted and sent forever to live with a new family, never to be heard from again.

Emma, Ray, and Norman are the three oldest siblings in the orphanage. When Conny, one of the orphans, left them to live with the new family, they notice her stuffed toy bunny left behind. Three of them reach the orphanage gate to give back her toy, but at the door, they are shocked to see Conny’s dead body.

They soon start to realize the shocking truth behind the idyllic life of the orphanage. Set in the year 2045, the anime follows the story of these three orphans and how they help other orphans to escape from the monstrous home.

Conclusion

Similar to Zankyou no Terror, each of the anime focuses on the life of young characters who are struggling to understand the world they live in and how they can improvise their lives for the better.
