About Mob Psycho 100

Shigeo Kageyama is nothing less than a prodigy. Nicknamed Mob, the eighth-grader has successfully begun to harbor his psychic prowess at a young age. As his skills grow exponentially, he soon realizes its risk and harmful potential. His psychic prowess becomes a liability for him and he decides to suppress them in any way possible. To regulate the usage, he starts using his power to impress his longtime crush, Tsubomi, however, she soon grows tired of the same tricks.

Now to take control of his skills, he decides to take the advice of a con artist named Arataka Reigen. Arataka pretends to be a psychic and begins using the Mob’s powers for his own evil intentions. On a daily basis, Mob works to exorcise evil spirits on Arataka’s command.

Mob Psycho 100 follows the story of a young boy, Mob, who is rising like a tsunami and is attempting to stop himself before his efforts become completely futile. Unbeknownst to all, Mob’s powers have the potential to bring cataclysmic tragedy, if he fails to put a check on his unrestrained emotions and vast potential. This may also turn him into an unrecognizable beast.

Mob’s transformation is unexpectedly frightening. As a matter of fact, he isn’t alone, some more people share a similar fate like him (as discussed below).

Synopsis

Saitama, though looks unimpressive and ordinary, has a peculiar hobby of being a hero. It’s been his childhood dream and still stands strong in his heart. After training for three rigorous years and losing all his hair during the time, he is now extraordinarily powerful. His strength is so immense that not a single enemy can stand a chance with him in the battle. In fact, he only needs to hit with one punch to take down the evildoers.

His powerful punch has given him a weird problem - he has lost the thrill of fighting and has grown tired of it. However, his wearisome is short-lived. A 19-year-old cyborg named Genos arrives in his life, aspiring to his disciple after witnessing his charismatic fighting style. Genos suggests him to join the Hero Association along with him. This will let them become certified heroes, who are praised for their positive contribution to society.

After learning from Genos, Saitama is utterly shocked to know that no one knows about him. He readily accepts his offer and thus begins the story of Once Punch Man. An action-comedy that explores the eccentrics and adventures of Saitama who longs to be a hero and become popular in the process.

Synopsis

Psychic abilities when added to an average human are nothing less than god’s blessings. In the case of Kusuo Saiki, the situation is completely opposite. He is gifted with a wide range of supernatural powers such as telepathy, x-ray vision, and so on. But for him, these are not blessings, but a curse that he has to carry his whole life. He yearns to live the life of an ordinary person. However, his powers are always forcing him into the limelight, from where there’s no escape. Due to which, he believes ignorance is bliss.

Kusuo attempts every measure to hide his powers from his classmates but ends up grabbing the attention of odd characters. These include empty-headed Riki Nendou and the judgmental Shun Kaidou. Dealing with eccentric people and handling his powers alongside, Kusuo has a long way to go before he finally realizes that the life of an ordinary person is a lot more difficult than his expectations.

Both the anime has adults who use innocent characters for their own greedy needs. Filled with a similar sense of humor, Hinamatsuri is a little less exaggerated suggestion for Mob Psycho 100.

Synopsis

Yoshifumi Nitta is a Yakuza member who is extremely boastful of his winning vase added to his collection. While enjoying the moment, he is abruptly interrupted by a large, peculiar capsule that unexpectedly materializes and falls over his head. He opens the capsule and finds a young, blue-haired girl within it. She doesn’t reveal anything besides her name, Hina, and the fact of her being in possession of immense powers.

Not too late, she loses control over herself and causes an explosion as if her powers were not yet used. She is uncontrollable and has no place to call home. So, left with no other option, Yoshifumi eventually becomes her caretaker.

To channelize the use of her powers, Yoshifumi suggests Hina should help him with a construction deal, that expectedly goes smooth. Meanwhile, a rival Yakuza group ambushes his boss and everyone blames him for the incident. Filled with rage, he goes to his rival’s hideout. At the same moment, Hina steps in and destroys every inch of the place. As it turns out, Yoshifumi has found a valuable ally in her who can help him in his Yakuza business to grow even more powerful.

Synopsis

More than 80% of humanity has garnered the supernatural powers called “Quirks” leaving the rest fragile and helpless. The power varies from person to person and has grown exponentially over the years, only the blood relations seem to have similar quirks, otherwise not. Now people can do unimaginable tasks such as manipulation of elements, shapeshifting, and so on.

Izuku Midoriya, the protagonist, is in the minority. He lacks any sort of quirks. Despite his lack of power, he aims to become a hero since childhood. Now, in middle school, he still shares the same dream and regularly admires his favorite heroes and takes notes on them.

Izuku’s all-time favorite is All Might, who has the ability to transfer his quirks to someone else at will. Luck favors Izuku and All Might chooses him as his successor. Boku no Hero Academia follows the story of Izuku and his friends. As he enrolls in a prestigious UA High school, he not only competes with others but also learns the true value of being a hero.

On their first meet, she ends up leaving tire tracks on his back and a weird horn on his head. She helps him get on his feet through CPR and leaves the spot with a genuine apology. However, this is just the beginning of a wave of bizarre events about to come.

FLCL follows the story of Naota who bears a portal on his head that links Earth to another dimensional world. His tragedy doubles when Haruka enters his home as a live-in maid.

Cike Wu Liuqi chronicles the life of Wu Liuqi accompanied by Dai Bo, his feather friend. Together they are on a quest to help Wu regain his lost memories. In the day, he works as a hairdresser and at night, indulges in various illicit occupations just to repay his debt, all for the sake of recalling his lost past.

Synopsis

The anime impressively popularise the line “The hero comes. The hero comes. The hero comes. Chant these words in your mind, and I'll surely come to you…”. This is a motivational mantra for Makoto “Smile” Tsukimoto who repeats it to deal with his stress during the ping pong matches and other life situations. Together with his childhood friend, Yutaka “Peco” Hoshino, he has grown up playing ping pong almost every day.

Peco is confident in becoming the best ping pong player in the world, while, Smile shows hardly any ambition. Despite that, they stick together and share a strong bond with mutual respect for the sport. Their aim is to compete in the inter-high table tennis tournament and gain international stardom.

Synopsis

He spends his life doing odd jobs earning five yen apiece. Tired of his useless antics with no promising future, his weapon partner grows tired and leaves him.

Devastated by the setback, his life takes a turn when a girl named Hiyori Iki saves him from a car accident. However, in the process, Hiyori gets hit by the car and as a result, her soul becomes loose and occasionally moves out of her body. Trapped in a peculiar situation, she has no option but to take Yato’s help and in return, she’ll have to help him find his weapon partner. At the end, who knows this may help Yato fulfill his long-awaited dream.

Synopsis

Inspired by their endeavor, the 12-year-old Gon Freecss is fixated on becoming one of them. He is driven to look for his missing father, who used to be a hunter himself and had abandoned Gon a long time ago. He trains hard, wanders from places to places, and in the process, realizes the level of challenges he has yet to overcome.

On his way to register himself as an official hunter, he befriends several interesting characters. These include Leorio, a doctor-in-training, Kurapika, an avenger, and Killua, an ex-assassin. All four of them are looking forward to their hunter exam to fulfill their individual goals and desires.

Hunter x Hunter follows the perilous journey of Gon and his friends, who have yet to realize the severity of Hunter's exam. The exam is notoriously famous for its low success rate and high death rate. As the commence exam, the protagonist team has to face a plethora of monsters and other horrifying creatures.

The protagonist, Onizuka, shares great similarities with Arataka Reigen. They may appear fraudsters at first, but deep down, they care for their disciple and would protect them from any harm whatsoever. Moreover, both of them possess a charismatic personality and extreme self-confidence.

Synopsis

Eikichi Onizuka is just 22-year-old and he is already a conqueror of Shonan and a former gang leader and on top of that, he is a virgin. At present, he dreams to become the greatest school teacher across the country. However, his ambition is not out of a passion for teaching, but to find a suitable teenage wife, who would look after him when he’s old and gray.

Surprisingly behind his greedy and lascivious demeanor, he has a caring and insightful attitude. He eventually lands a job as a homeroom teacher at the elite Holy Forest Academy. Despite his intense conversation with the Vice Principal, his skills are put to the test as he is given the most infamous class in the entire school.

The class is known for torturing every homeroom teacher. They use psychological warfare to mentally disturb the teachers forcing them to quit at last. Luckily, Onizuka is one of his own kinds, he loves challenges and knows how to beat them with his shrewdness.

Alike Mob, the main character possesses psychic powers. However in Akira, the power is not just limited to one entity, it is widespread. Both the anime shows the ambiguity of how the situation will turn out if the powers are used for malicious purposes.

Synopsis

Bestowed with immense psychic powers, a young boy causes a widespread explosion in the city of Tokyo, which ultimately leads to World War III. To inhibit any further damage, the boy is taken prisoner somewhere, never to be heard from again.

Around 30 years later, the city is restored as Neo-Tokyo, where the government is facing resistance from gang violence and extreme terrorism. Besides this, there is Shoutarou Kaneda, the leader of “The Capsules”, a gang of misfits who is in constant conflict with “The Clowns”. They are known for riding large, custom motorcycles.

Akira explores the life of Shoutarou who, due to undue circumstances, begins to harness psychic abilities. Now, he is chased by the government who is desperate to prevent the city from falling into a similar catastrophe as in 1988.

Both the anime explores the philosophical aspects of life such as the need for violence and non-violence and what’s the real value of human life. Both the protagonists have immense power and have to handle the responsibility of what comes along with it.

Synopsis

With a billion-dollar bounty put on his head, Vash the Stampede is infamously called “The Humanoid Typhoon”. He is known for being a merciless villain, who knocks down everyone that opposes him in any manner possible. He often creates ruins in the entire cities for the sake of entertainment. He is fearless and always leaves behind the prints of death and destruction. Anyone who makes eye contact with him can countless themselves as dead meat.

On the other hand, Vash is actually a huge softie who has never laid even a tiny finger on anyone. He hates violence and claims to never have killed anyone. His only obsession is a doughnut and he is extraordinarily buffoonish. He is constantly followed by two insurance agents who want to minimize his influence on the public.

Trigun follows the comical story of Vash, who is chased by a group of infamous assassins. As the story progresses, Vash’s disturbing past comes into light that questions his morality and principles.

Together they are now on a mission to solve mysteries surrounding the town, Morioh. The town is full of danger at every street corner and is infamous for suspicious occurrences.

Synopsis

The anime is set in the fictional world of Death City. Here, exists the popular Death Weapon Meister Academy regulated by the Lord of Death, Shinigami himself. Its mission is to raise “Death Scythes” which will assist Shinigami in fighting the evil occurrences within their world. These Death Scythes aren’t physical weapons, rather they are made from human hybrids, who have the prowess to transform themselves into Demon Weapons. However, this is possible only if they consume 99 evil souls and one witch’s soul.

The story revolves around Soul Eater Evans, who only cares about humorous things and desires to become a Death Scythe with the help of his meister or straight-laced wielder, Maka Albarn. The incompatible duo has to work with short-tempered Black Star and Shinigami’s own son, Death the Kid, who is a compulsive wielder of twin pistols named Patty and Liz.

Together they embark on a deadly journey of collecting evil souls and protecting their city from massive threats. As they progress in their task, their character development makes the storyline more robust.

Synopsis

After his father’s death, the young Tanjirou Kamado has taken the family responsibility on his shoulder. He works day and night to support his family. Despite living an impoverished life in a faraway mountain, the family never has a dull moment and finds happiness in each other’s support.

One day Tanjioru visits the town to sell some charcoal to make a living. The night befalls on his return and he is forced to take shelter in a strange man’s home. The man warns him about the flesh-savoring demons who appear only at night and lurk in the woods to wait for their prey. However, Tanjirou doesn’t pay much attention to his words.

The next day, he arrives at home only to witness the biggest tragedy of his life. He finds his whole family has been slaughtered and the only person left alive is his younger sister, Nezuko. Unfortunately, Nezuko has lost her humanity and has turned into a blood-thirsty demon. Tanjirou vows to avenge his family and sticks with his only remaining family member. He will do whatever it takes to cure his sister and kill the demon who’s responsible for his family’s death. Unbeknownst to him, the suspected demon is the leader of all other demons and thus, is almost impossible to capture.
