#1: Read

Reading is unquestionably a great way to stimulate your mind. In my opinion, it's fun and a great way to occupy yourself. In the past few days, in fact, I've finished a few books. There's plenty of genres and topics of books to interest us, and a lot of times when I'm bored I like to read. For example, you're reading this right now! It passes time easily and, for me, is entertaining. It can increase your vocabulary and you can learn a lot from the text, even if you're reading fiction!

#2: Write

Writing - another one of my favorite things to do with my free-time. You can write about all types of things - animals, family, friends, music, literally anything you want. Personally, I enjoy writing journal entries everyday to record what I do each year. I like it because when I'm older, I can read what I wrote in, let's say, third grade! And making a habit of writing can improve your penmanship, grammar, and handwriting. I write and type everyday, (even if it's not on Hubpages,) and because of my dedication, I've improved a lot over the years. Someday, I might have enough confidence and determination to write a book!

#3: Play With Your Pets

As an animal lover, I had to fit this one in. Of course, if you have a pet, I'm sure you take great care of him/her. (I currently have two cats and one dog.) But this is definitely a great way to pass the time and have fun when you don't really want to go anywhere. I spend a lot of time running with my dog and throwing toys in the air for my feisty kittens. Maybe you don't have any pets right now. You could visit a family member or friend's animal, and nowadays we can see cats and dogs in 3D and watch videos about them.

#4: Music

Whether you're listening to your favorite radio station, or playing musical instruments yourself, music can make you feel tons of different things, including confident, happy, upbeat, angry, and even sad. A lot of people like songs with relatable lyrics that they can understand and feel familiar with. Whatever people are feeling, there's music for them to relate to. Some people even prefer music without lyrics - it's called instrumental music. But when you have nothing to do or just have some free-time, listening to or playing music can pass the time and even be a family thing.

#5: Browse the Web

Although a lot of people might want to do more activities that don't include social media, you can use phones and computers to check up on your family members rather than your messages on Facebook, and keep track of the weather and news rather than your followers on YouTube. The internet is actually kind of amazing. The world has developed some pretty incredible technology over the years. Whilst some individuals may prefer soaking up some sunshine outdoors, browsing the web can be a cool experience every once in a while.. But remember that soaking up some sunshine is important, too!
