What's Up With Urine?
Most of us only think about urine when we're getting a blood test or taking a long road trip and searching for the nearest outhouse. But in this day and age, if you haven't considered drinking your own urine (for the potential health benefits) then you must still be living under a rock.
Many health nutritionists, doctors, and "crazy" people have been known to drink their own urine in the past.
But what makes urine so delicious to the taste? Well, nothing. It's not delicious.
What many of you probably don't know is, urine contains all of the vitamins and nutrients that your body doesn't absorb the first time. Urine contains the excess stuff that your body wasn't able to hold in (literally). For this reason, many individuals (even celebrities) drink their own urine in hopes to salvage the wasted minerals released and absorb them the second time around.
What's In Urine Exactly?
Urine is mainly water. It also contains an array of inorganic salts and organic compounds, including proteins, hormones, and a wide range of metabolites, varying by what is introduced into the body.

Bear Grylls Drinks His Urine

Of course, most people probably wouldn't think of drinking their own urine, but if you're serious about living, you might start thinking about it in the 127 degree weather found in the Sahara desert.
Other Urine Uses
Drinking your own urine is one thing but there are also many other uses for pee that many aren't aware of. Check out these celebrities that use their urine for other purposes.
Baseball player, Moises Alou said in an interview that during regular baseball season, he would urinate on his hands to toughen them up. He claims that his therapeutic ritual helped to harden and alleviate calluses.
Ever think Madonna would use her own pee? Think not? Well think again! Madonna claimed to use her own urine to cure her athlete's foot problem!

Ignorance & small minded inhibition are major setbacks to humanity, always. There is no harm & arguably some benefit in Urophagia, if done sensibly. Most importantly, if you do indulge, it shouldn't be done if you are not properly hydrated or cannot hydrate quickly afterwards.

As a Bear Grylls fan, I've always admired his ability to do whatever it takes to survive. However, I had no idea that people did it for health reasons outside of dehydration. Yikes!
