Its occurrence is so basic and almost lifeless that the majority of humans are not even aware of its existence. It’s away from the web of good and bad. Interestingly, it can take different forms such as plants, rainbow, diseases, and everything else imaginable.

People called “Mushishi” conduct research on them to better understand the origin of life. Ginko, one of the “Mushishi” ponders constantly in the forest to discover deep secrets about this simple being. He is even ready to chase rumors associated with “Mushi” to find detailed answers. In the end, who knows he may end up finding the meaning of life itself.

Unlike other 15-year-old boys, whose lives are full of talks and desires related to girls, Takashi Natsume’s life is different. He possesses a disturbing and peculiar secret regarding Youkai (spirits). As long as he can recall, he’s been regularly chased by mysterious spirits. Fortunately, he finds that his late grandmother Reiko had given him a book named “Book of Friends” or “Yujinchou”, which have the details about the spirits she brought under her control. With the book in his possession, Natsume has gained similar powers as his grandmother. That’s the reason why he is always haunted by these enraged spirits, who hope to regain their freedom.

With no parents or a nice place to call home, Natsume is struggling not just with Youkai, but also with the loony solitude. Fortunately, he does have a companion in the form of a feline spirit named Madara, who sticks with him for some reason of his own.

Natsume Yuujinchou follows the story of Natsume and his self-proclaimed bodyguard, Madara. Together, they are trying to free the spirits captivated by Natsume’s grandmother’s contract.

Accompanied by a talking motorcycle named Hermes, Kino is a 15-year old who is traveling the world with no intention to stop anytime soon. As a pair, they wander across different countries and places excited by the unknown. They are the proof that life is a journey worth embarking on without concerning about the uncertainties that follow the path.

Throughout their journey, they learn about various customs both fascinating and bewildering. They also encounter different inserting people who have distinct life purposes. Some of them aim to live for their work, some of them live for others’ happiness, while many others live to see their dreams work.

As a matter of fact, Kino and Hermes don’t have a set pattern to travel to different places, they go where their instincts tell them to. They don’t interfere with the rituals or traditions, rather observe them from a distance as they firmly believe, life is beautiful the way it is.

Infamous for being deadly and mysterious, the “Medicine Seller” is an occultist who is wandering across feudal Japan. A fierce demon boar has destroyed the parts of the Emishi village and is continuing to do so. Ashitaka, a young prince, vows to protect his tribe irrespective of the costs. He manages to shot one beastly animal, but while taking its last breath, he curses the prince’s arm. As a result, Ashitaka is gradually overpowered by demonic powers and his humanity is slipping away.

The village elders advise him to travel to the west to find a cure. He arrives at Tatara, popularly called the Iron Town. However, he is instantly caught in a war between Lady Eboshi of Tatara and Princess San. While Lady Eboshi wants to destroy the forest, Princess San wants to protect the forest spirits and their home from humans.

Ashitaka tries to settle down the matter between them while struggling with his own curse. Mononoke Hime explores the relation of technology with nature and shows how mutual understanding can help us attain the path of harmony.

Kimihiro Watanuki is a special human, who actually detests his special skill. Unlike others, he has the power to see spirits and other supernatural creatures. For him, this is extremely annoying and he wants to get rid of this so-called blessing. However, one day while on his way home, he unexpectedly becomes obliged to enter a peculiar house.

Inside the house, Kimihiro meets Yuko, a mysterious and alluring woman. She offers to help him get rid of his supernatural ability, but for a price. She desires him to work at her “wish-granting store” to help people in need. xxxHOLiC explores the new and unexpected adventure of Kimihiro with mysterious Yuko as they go through a series of weird yet spectacular events. In the end, who knows Kimihiro may end up liking his ability and become a permanent partner of Yuko.

Set in the 24th century, the anime explores the life of humans on the planet Mars, now called Aqua. Neo Venezia is a peace-loving floating city on Aqua. However, it does sound futuristic, the city is still full of old-fashioned regimes. Its main transport method is through water using gondolas. In other words, it’s a humble replication of the city Venice located on the planet Manhome (previously called Earth).

To ensure people living in and visiting Neo Venezia recipe equal courtesy, several companies were established to offer them a guided tour through gondola. These are called Aria Company.

The story revolves around the adventure of Akari Mizunashi, who works for Aria Company and is a free-spirited teenager. She previously lived on Manhome and now works as an Undine (tour guide) on Aqua. Learning about the new world, Akari meets other Undine, city residents, and tourists. Along the way, she also grasps several life-changing lessons and witnesses manmade miracles.

One day when Holo encounters a traveling merchant named Kraft Lawrence, she offers herself as his business partner only if he agrees to take her to her home in Yoitsu. The sharp-witted trader recognizes Holo’s unique ability to analyze a person’s character and thus, accepts her offer. Lucky to have a compelling negotiator by his side, Lawrence is now confident of opening his own shop. However, as he begins to implement his plans, something unexpected obstructs his way.

An unnamed girl is falling from the sky with head downward. A crow tries to pull her through the hem of her robe but fails to do so and then, flies away. Meanwhile, in the village of Old Home, a young Haibane is born from a cocoon. This is the same girl falling from the sky.

She is bright under the care of older Haibane, Reiki. When she wakes up, she can only remember the moment of falling through the sky as if it's a dream. Thus, she is named Rakka (”falling”) as Haibane is named on the basis of their dreams occurring within the cocoon.

Rakka has small gray wings and a halo. She lives with Reiki and many other Haibane. Sadly, she is not allowed to travel outside the village or even go near the outer walls. However, as the story progresses, Rakka finds her calling while suffering from intense agony and then, tries to break through the defined boundaries to explore the world.

Koyomi Araragi is a third-year high school student, who was once saved from a vampire attack by a strange man named Meme Oshino, residing in a desolated building. Though he became human again, he is now stuck with some effects of vampirism such as superhuman healing abilities and exceptional vision.

However, trying to live normal again doesn’t really go well with him. He’s always caught in some unnatural events, where he has to save people from supernatural maladies. This includes his classmates and other people who actually turn out to be unnatural beings themselves, later.

As the story progresses, Araragi once again encounters Oshino and a new plot begins to unfold. An anti-romance, anti-friendship wonderful story of Bakemonogatari, which worth every watch.

Daigo Kagemitsu is a selfish samurai lord who would do anything to keep power in his hands. His land is dying so he plans to abandon Buddhism and make a deal with demons. As a result, 12 demons heed his prayers and grant him the desired powers, but at a price. The price is Kagemitsu’s son, means when he’ll be born, he’ll have no nose, eyes, ears, limbs, nor even skin, but still he’ll live.

Due to the child’s condition, he is thrown into a river and forgotten. Luckily, he is saved by a medical expert, who bestows him with weapons and prosthetics. This lets him survive and stand for himself. Though he is unable to see, hear, or feel, he still lives and grows and is determined to destroy demons who cursed him as a sacrifice.

As he kills demons one by one, he also begins to regain his parts. He goes on demon hunt alone for many years before he finally meets Dororo, an orphan boy and they become friends. Together, they embark on a mission to dethrone the demons’ rule and ensure the survival of humanity.
